No Conference in 2014

Postby mikeedwards » Mon Feb 17, 2014 9:20 am

Hello FaithWriters,

The response to the 2014 conference was not sufficient to move forward. We hope to hold our next conference in 2015.

Blessings to all, Mike

Awwww. That's so sad. I was already looking forward to this. :( I miss my FW family when I can't see them!

I was still up in the air about it, but with our tax return, it was looking more possible. Oh well. C'est la vie. Maybe next year.

For once I thought maybe I could go to one this year but never heard one way or the other until now.

Dear All,

Would it be possible to set up a UK Faithwriters Conference?

Kind regards,

Hi Mark.

That was something we had toyed with years ago, but it was never really logistically possible. Even the Australian one (which I ran) was really too hard to pull together. We did it twice over here (in Sydney), but it was a massive outlay of time and finances for very little return.

The conferences are always great fun and wonderful encouragement, both the US and the Australian ones, but as you can see, they are not always financially possible when the support isn't there to back them up.

Even so, who knows what the future may hold? That's in Mike and Bea's hands.

I was so hoping to attend this year. But maybe it's for the best to wait until 2015. I look forward to meeting face to face with so many wonderful people here at faithwriters. Praying for a good response to our next conference. Any ideas on where it might take place?

I would suggest Memphis, since it is only 2 miles from where I live, but there is very little to see here, other than Elvis Presey's House and Beale Street. Oh, well, maybe near by?

Did I not know, or forget, you were from near Memphis? That's where my hubby is from and my in-laws are there. The Pink Palace is pretty awesome, as is the zoo, the Dixon Art Museum, Memphis Botanical Gardens, the riverboat rides (SO relaxing, I fell asleep on the 2nd half the one time we went), Peabody, and a bunch of other stuff. However, Elvis' Graceland - nope - not a chance. Frank says it's in the worst part of town and he'll never go. He's way sick of Elvis.

Not to mention Tops BBQ (pulled pork sammiches, as my hubby says) and Corky's BBQ (ribs) :drool

I'm all for Memphis :D Free place to stay :D

Lynn, we tried Nashville one year, and that was another cancel. We need to really keep it central to FW home base to have the strongest support. To rebuild it. But until member support is there, it's not going to happen. That will probably only happen if a really strong sense of community builds again.
