Okay, BeachGrandma, you did it - now you have to post that Victoria Secret story, here, for our edification.

Please don't leave us dangling, wondering what was so funny ....

My computer is messin' with my head again. It's playin' brain-twisting jokes on me that aren't very funny at all.

For example...this morning when I opened the door to the cyber world, a big window popped up saying, "YOU ENTERED 'FRIDAY ZONE' WHEN YOU AWOKE TODAY. DO NOT BE AFRAID...IT WILL ONLY LAST 24 HOURS."

Well, the computer is wrong! What does a box of wires know anyway? There's even a mouse hiding in the box, too.

It can't be Friday. I haven't stepped away from Wednesday yet. In fact, I'm still hangin' onto much of Tuesday.

A mind-numbing virus must have slipped in when I wasn't lookin'. I hope there is a fix for that. :?

We have had so many sub-zero temperature days this winter that placing a minus sign in front of any numbers I write has become a habit.

For example:

How old am I? -73
How many kids do I have? -2
What is my bank balance? -$34.18

Okay...you get the idea. A spring thaw is needed real bad around here. Maybe that will happen in -8 weeks.

The sun is shining brightly. That's a good sign!

Perhaps it will shrink the snow stacks, drawing the invisible h2o molecules up to the clouds, thus reducing the size of anticipated spring puddles. :P

But...what goes up must come down.

Little has been said about spring flooding forecasts for MN. With our above normal snowfall and cold weather this winter, plus normal spring rains, I suspect that serious flooding might be a definite possibility.

Don, your response was a case of a glass being half empty whereas Edy's was of a glass being half full. ROFL :superhappy :rolling :rolling :rolling I love teasing you guys.

Edy, in the interest of space, I Emailed the newspaper article about Victoria's Secret to you. If anyone else wants to read it, let me know and I'll dash an Email off to you. I still have a hard time believing the manager felt the article was damaging to their Wilmington store and threatened to sue unless the paper retracted it. Anyone could tell it was half made-up, for Pet's sake.

It's raining so there goes the boys plans to see the Lego movie at the theater. Besides, it is sold out so we got tickets online for tomorrow afternoon's matinee showing. They're so excited at the prospect. Right now they're begging me to bake cookies for their immediate enjoyment. :-)

See you all later.

We've gotten a couple showers here in bone-dry SoCal, but we're still about 6" short of normal rainfall. And January and February are normally our wettest months. Not good.

I baked some Toll House Chocolate Chip cookies this morning. I just noticed there are five left.

(Let's see...thinking out loud here)

12 cookies baked...minus 5 cookies left = 7

Oops...that means I must have eaten 7 (60%) of them!!!

Memo to self:
Next time bake more of them so the number left after a couple of hours will be more. That way I won't feel like a pig.

Wow! That's bad! Lawn grass must be crunchy when you walk on it. (You do have grass lawns in SoCal, dontcha?)

Is there concern over possible fire danger this spring?

I remember seeing my uncle fix up his yard after moving into a new house there. His idea of a lawn was lots of gravel, rocks, and cactus.

Yes, Don, grass lawns are still the norm here. I still see lots of green lawns around here, but the lawn out back of the church is dry and crunchy for two reasons--one, it was part of our daycare and preschool, which God directed us to close down a couple years ago, and two, we have a leak in our water line somewhere, but don't have the funds to get it fixed. This plays hob with the water pressure, especially in the outside restrooms, which also used to be part of our preschool and daycare.

Personally, if I were to have my own place, I would prefer a nice flower bed out front. Grass is such a waste--you pour water, fertilizer, weedkiller, etc. on it, and have to mow it at least once a month, but it's all green. Why not have beautiful, colorful flowers, especially if you choose the low-maintenance types? To me that makes more sense.

You are such a thoughtful sweet-pie, BeachGrandma. Unfortunately, while I can enlarge the photo, my computer doesn't have a focus ability, so about all I can make out is the one all-caps paragraph. I was hoping you might have posted it on your FW member page, so all we'd need is a link to find it.

Don't go to more work to get the newspaper article to me. It sounds delightful just hearing about it and the reactions it generated. 8)

My computer has been in the shop since Wednesday morning. The geek squad said they were really backed up, and it would take 3 or 4 days to fix it. So today being day 4, I called. They told me it had crashed big time. Hmmm. I took it in for getting cleaned up and adding one program. I should have kept it! They told me they would have a an expert look at it this afternoon and call me. . . waiting . . .

Meanwhile I'm trying to stay in touch with the world via my husband's laptop. --Not liking it.

Y'all have posted some very interesting stuff he last few days. I hope you're surviving the snows. They're whispering the snow/sleet word around here for next Tuesday.

Hope you all have a blessed Sabbath.

I thought I posted something here yesterday, but I don't see it. Anyone else having trouble with messages disappearing or not showing up? I know I didn't just preview it; I rarely do that. I figure if there are typos, you all will just love me anyway, or at least tolerate me temporarily. Oh well, I didn't have anything important to say, anyway.

Did enjoy the fishing stories. Mariane, I would like to read your article. Sounds like a hoot. Victoria's Secret makes a cameo appearance in my latest book.

We are having some pretty strange weather. Was 70 yesterday, and today it's having a hard time getting above freezing. Normally in February, we start having more nice weather than bad.

Is anyone watching the Olympics, or have I asked that? With messages disappearing, I don't remember. I am enjoying them. Speaking of the Olympics, I'm gonna get off here and go watch them. Y'all behave.

Well, today is a first. This hasn't ever happened in 25 years. I got no mail delivery today. Nothing...nada...zip...not a bill, not a check, not a letter, not an advertisement, not a catalog, not a magazine...not even a junk flyer. I am totally shocked!

The mail guy did hit my street, but left me nothing. The neighbors got mail 'cause I saw two of them collect theirs.

Actually I hate sorting through my mail, but today I got upset when I found my mail box empty. I made three trips out there late this afternoon in zero degree temps to check for it. Don't they think I live here anymore?

I better receive a double load tomorrow, or there will be trouble! :x

Caught up on few pages and post to see how you all are getting along.

I feel much better tonight with no coughing fits (touch wood) since lunch. Dr gave me a 2nd course of antibiotics of the chest infection and another blood test to see how my thyroid is holding up with new meds. When I return for a follow up later in the week the doctor will either send me for new allergy tests or straight to a specialist. I'm having far to many sinus infections that goes directly to the chest, throat, voice box or somewhere and then antibiotics is the only way to get rid of it. Now if I could take penicillin, one shot would probably send it packing but such is the problem with allergies.

Hubby twisted his ankle last week and has had not much improvement so he's back to the doctor for a probable ultrasound to make sure no major damage was caused.

My dad had a 24 hour stomach on Saturday that left him flat on his back in bed until Monday night. He slept almost 12 hours straight after his last trot to the bathroom. After upping his fluids he slept another 9 hours which is amazing after all the fluids he drank, He's fine now and here's hoping hubby and I missed the bug as it passed by.

I'm so tired though. I wish I could sleep a few days straight. It might do me good.

Well, I'm off to bed and pray the night coughing fits have ceased.

I'll try and get back to you all in a day or two.

Chrissy
