Oh, poor baby! You describe Betsy so well, I can see the video in my mind. Great writing, Don!

"On the fifth day of Christmas...." Merry Christmastide, everyone! Now, we have to go face the biting cold to head out to daughter Lonnie's for dinner (after the shock, earlier, going out the door to church). But, too cold beats too hot, since we can always add more layers. 8)

Have you met Tammy? I'm sure I've shared her pic before but here she is. It's been almost 12 years since she joined our family. It was between Christmas and New Year when we got her from the RSPCA where she had been dumped after being badly treated for some 5 years.

Tammy is 17 years old this week if we make this her birthday week. She is almost completely deaf and has a little doggy dementia but other than that, she's pretty healthy.

Happy Birthday Tammy

Snoopy refuses to go out some days because I think some snow slid off the roof, either on or near him. He'll hear that sound and start shaking. We have to literally push him outside. He'll go out for my husband, but he's actually snapped at the kids when they've tried to put him out.

Happy New Year, y'all.

I did something that's either the dumbest thing I've even done or the most fun thing I'll ever do! You can guess what John thinks! Omigoodness. :shocked :fingerwag :redface2 :helpwobble :nono2 :pirate2 :seeingstars

I love to play around on Ebay and a couple of weeks ago I was talking to a woman about a blouse she had for sale. One Email led to another and I ended up buying all her designer clothes for $100 plus postage. There were about 70 items in the boxes that arrived. It turned out that only one item fit me! hehehehe And it was a suit but the pants were missing. Can you believe that? :orangeyes

Anyway, I don't care because I'd already thought I wanted to open a store on Ebay to sell stuff. So for 2 days all I did was wash the lady's clothes and inspect them and get them ready to go on Ebay. So far I've only got one listed. (At this rate, I'll have them all up and running on Ebay about September 2023. I won't mention the listing because this is not a proper forum for advertising, but from time to time I'll tell you some good stories (I hope) from my dealings with people. Should be fun! :heehee :joker2

Stay well, be blessed! Maybe Jesus will come for his Bride this new year!
:superhappy :clap

What a sweet little dog, Chrissy! What "denomination" of dog is she? I didn't realize dogs lived so long. She must have had good "parents" for the past twelve years, to make up for her earlier life.

On this sixth day of Christmas, I'm inclined to bake some Julekaga. Then again, I just may be lazy-a-laying, since all six geese are a-laying, too.  :

If we are inclined to sometimes mess up and drop the ball in life…well, it’s okay to do that tonight…especially if one lives in NYC.

Tonight I might stay up as late as 10:00, but I’ll need a good nap this afternoon to be able to do that.

Are you serious?

After consuming the combination of that stuff, the designated driver would need to be the coroner...and it wouldn't be from over-eating!

Death by thick sliced hog jowl consumption??? That sounds awful!!!

It's almost 2014--so hard to believe! Hope each of you has a blessed year.

Our Christmas was blessed with family (especially those sweet grandbabies). I haven't been as much on the computer as usual, but on reviewing the porch "ramblings" I liked seeing how you all spent Christmas and enjoyed meeting your dogs.

Mariane, there isn't much on your shopping list I'd buy--maybe the sweet potatoes and the apples and the cornmeal. I've been in the South since I was 15 (that's a really long time!), but I've never really got into the collards/black-eyed pea adventure--and I like my cornbread sweet. My sweetie will take me out for lunch. A grilled steak or chicken breast and baked potato sound good, and I still have enough sweets left after Christmas to sink a battleship.

Yesterday I spent awhile in the dentist's chair getting ready for a crown to repair the molar I broke with a bite of Christmas dinner.

We've had cold weather at night and moderately cool temperatures in the daytime. Don and Edy, I believe you're going to share your frigid temps with us Friday--but I'd just as soon you didn't.

God bless friends on the porch!

...and oooops! I forgot to wish everyone a happy 7th Day of Christmas! Do you know what dawned on me this morning? Tomorrow is the 8th Day of Christmas as well as New Year's Day, and the number 8 is the number of new beginnings!

Now, how did our calendar manage to reflect that? With God there are no coincidences! He surprises us with little messages wherever we turn. And some question if there is an Almighty. "The fool has said in his heart 'there is no God,' " poor blank eyes!

Time to jump in and go swimming with the Seven Swans (one of my favorite birds) - on second thought, I don't want to be freeze dried for the new year. 8)

Love the dog stories and the photo. Such a sweetie! Our poor little girl is getting just a teeny bit "fluffy". I need to stop giving her so many table scraps. Actually, I have cut back, but Don needs to do his part, too!

Mariane, that sounds like something I would do. Let us know how your store does. It's something I've considered trying.

Is everyone ready for 2014? Guess it doesn't matter if we aren't, it's coming anyway!
HAPPY NEW YEAR friends!
