Uff da!!!

That's why outhouses should also have side doors...and porch lights. :wink:

Here is a link you should bookmark or place into your favorites file. It is a world map pictorially showing world-wide earthquakes happening in real time as well as over the past days or weeks.

Rest your mouse over the circles to find out the magnitude and specific location. Click on your "refresh" button to make the picture come alive with the current activity.

The earth is rockin' and rollin' this morning!!! :?

Yikes!!! It can't be morning already. It's dark outside...and the chickens aren't even up yet!

Whoever came up with the phrase "Early to bed, early to rise - makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise" had it all wrong. The word "tired" is missing.

Have you ever seen a tired or wealthy chicken? No, I didn't think so.

The chickens have it right. They stay snug on their roost until the daybreak says, "Hi". If we were "wise", we would learn from them.

But now that I'm wide awake, I'll go wake up some chickens.

I went to a two-hour Southern Gospel Quartet Concert last night at my church. It was great!

The group is called "Higher Call", and they have been around for about 20 years. I picked up a couple of their CD's.

So, why do I like Southern Gospel quartet music? I enjoy the 4-part close harmony, plus the lyrics carry a biblical message of Truth not often found in today's so-called "religious' music.

I also enjoy hearing 3 and 4 part a cappella from both men's and ladies' groups.

The wind really blew hard around here yesterday.

So, how hard did it blow?

Well, it blew so hard that the leaves were being ripped from the trees and looked like a winter snow storm in the 40+mph wind. They were just hanging on by a thread anyway, so good riddance.

All of my leaves ended up in my north neighbor's yard, but my south neighbor's leaves all got dumped in my yard. Ya can't win. :?

I have drifts of leaves piled high on my deck that I'll need to remove before they get buried from a real snow storm.

The wind on our side of town did its best, but so many of our trees are still green :!: that the leaves weren't willing to budge. I'm afraid we will end up raking leaves off the snow drifts before we can shovel the snow. :lol:

Yesterday, being All Saints' Sunday (with emphasis on prayer for the persecuted church), we opened with this hymn, which always chokes me up. One stanza in particular reminds me of my soldier patients.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqXWR-sdDQc

1 For all the saints who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed,
thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

2 Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might;
thou, Lord, their captain in the well-fought fight;
thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

3 O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle; they in glory shine;
yet all are one in thee, for all are thine.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

4 And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
and hearts are brave again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

5 From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thank you, and a great day it was! Our son and wife came Sunday and took us out to lunch. Any family time is precious! And tomorrow a granddaughter and her baby are coming to visit. There has to be some reason it's good to get old!

Don, I hope you're keeping a journal of your events and remembrances!

I wished you a Happy Birthday on Facebook yesterday so I'm a little late saying it here today Verna. How does it feel to be celebrating your annual 49th birthday? I decided on my last birthday that I am now in the "elderly" category but most of my friends are so much younger than I that I oughta start cultivating more friends in the over-the-hill group. The problem is, so few have computers!

I made a delicious quiche today (with John's considerable help). With a dollop of sour cream on top, it's sure to put some weight on me. I have gained a total of 10 lbs since February so my doctor should be pleased when I go in next week for shots. :clap :clap

Don, I love all kinds of music so Southern Gospel is right there in the mix, too. It kind of reminds me of old camp meetings or something. It's lively, the harmony is great, and the songs about heaven are rousing. I've read that it became popular in the South because the farmers and their wives many years ago worked so hard all week and when Sunday came, they wanted to sing joyous song, full of spirit so it would get their minds off the hard lives they were living and celebrate on Sundays. Kind of like the reasons the slaves loved their music on Sundays and often would spend all day singing and praising. It was a way to forget, and have their spiritual reservoirs renewed at the same time. :superhappy :angel2 :book2 :music2

I think I need a little snooze. See you all later.....
:grouphug3
(singing):
"Cover me, Lord, with Your presence,
Cover me, Lord, with Your righteousness,
Cover me, Lord, with Your holiness,
Lord Jesus, cover me."

Yes I am. I have collected them for years. I have pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages, and pages of them.

The problem is that I don't know what to do with the stuff. I'm much too tired to do anything with them. One day after this old man is gone they will probably get tossed. :cry:

Beautiful hymn, Edy. There are some lovely old Lutheran hymns. One I use when praying for the church is "The Church's One Foundation."

Don, when you get snowed in this winter would be a good time to do some selecting and organizing pages from your journal so they'll be available for posterity!

Mariane, your quiche sounds good. I'm thankful that you put on 10 pounds (and that I didn't!)

The topic for the challenge this week is "if Pigs fly." I bet this crowd could write some good articles on that topic! Nothing has gelled for me yet, but I'm enjoying the idioms as topics.

I made a "heavenly" cake today for our granddaughter's visit. Hope I can stay out of it.

My dog Betsy has a highly accurate, built-in clock, but it is not wired for the fall time change. Her internal clock doesn't get turned back one hour as ours do. The problem is now she thinks her dinner time should be at 4:00pm instead of 5:00pm.

At 4:00 Betsy will lay with her nose pressed against her food dish, and with her eyes focused on my every move. If I walk out of the kitchen she races after me and tries to steer/drag me back toward the direction of her food dish. She can be very assertive and determined.

I tell her "it's not time yet", but then, just like a little kid, she goes into rebellion mode. After some discussion, we (?) agreed to a compromise. Starting at 4:00, I will delay her feeding time by 10 minutes each day for 6 days, then things will be normal again - maybe.

Yesterday when she demanded her dinner at 4:00, I ignored her and went to my computer to check email. All was quiet (too quiet) for 20 minutes, so I went to see what she was doing. I found Betsy sprawled out on the family room couch. She knows she is not allowed there, and hasn't done that for almost 3 years.

Her attempt to "get-even-with-me" was short lived. I chased her off the couch, and delayed her dinner a full hour. I can hardly wait to see what tricks she has up her sleeves for me today.

By the way, Betsy has no problem with the spring time change when her dinner is served an hour earlier. She likes that. :lol:

My off-the-wall thoughts for today...

One day many of us might need bifocals, hearing aides, false teeth, metal knee joints, pins and screws in our hips, new heart valves, and much more. With all of that stuff in our inventory, we could pass as a walking hardware store. Home Depot would be jealous.

* * *

Just imagine! Even if you don't like your ingrown toenails...if you don't like your hemorrhoids...if you don't like your bad knees...and if you don't like your back pain...then, under Obamacare you must keep them!

* * *

Okay, I'm out of here!

Don, I meant to comment on your earlier post about outhouses needing side doors. One day when I was 9 years old and staying at Grandma's farm in Pennsylvania for the summer, I was sitting in the outhouse minding my own business :book2 when I suddenly felt the urge to MAKE a side door in the outhouse. :eyes There in the corner, not far from the only door in the outhouse sat a 140 foot snake, :orangeyes curled up, with his teeth bared :mrgreen: and his tongue flipping out, hissing and spitting at me. I was paralyzed :cry2 with understandable fear :shocked and looked for another exit. :helpwobble (The only one I saw was the other "sitting hole" beside me which wasn't really an option.) :redface2 It was then I decided all outhouses should have a second means of escape and if fear alone could serve as a tool, I had a chainsaw of energy at my disposal. :pirate2

So,
(singing):
"Cover me, Lord, with Your presence,
Cover me, Lord, with Your righteousness,
Cover me, Lord, with Your holiness,
Lord Jesus, cover me."
