Wow! I had no idea. They're all kinda cute, aren't they?

I don't think we have any of them around here. Sometimes I feel like one though.

Don, I know it is sad not to have Carol here for your 50th anniversary, but you did have so many years together with God's blessings. May your memories today be the sweetest ones and warm you through and through. I still think you need to see the doc and not wait three months. If you take your bruised face in there, you won't have to convince them that you fell!

Thank you dear friend, Edy, for that wonderful review on Amazon. I appreciate it.

Thinking about you today, Dear Mariane.

Dear Don,
Even though you and Carol are temporarily out of reach of each other, today is still your special day. So, do have a blessed and happy
GOLDEN anniversary, knowing that both of you are still very much together in Christ Jesus.

I got a new batch of colorful flowers and placed them in the plant stand at Carol's grave this morning. I stayed there for quite a while - alone with my thoughts - until it started to rain, then I came home. Tonight my son and his wife are taking me out to dinner. Thinking about a nap now.

The discoloration on my face has now spread down to my chin. Like I've said before, I can't take hits like that very often. People give me the wierdest looks as if they are thinking I got run over by a truck. It's strange that only one has commented. He said, "Dude, what does the other guy look like?"

Back home again in Indiana....

We thank God for our beautiful little granddaughter, Jayda Rose, born on October 15th, our eleventh grandchild. There is something about holding a precious newborn that brings one into the presence of God.

And thanking God for the "recovery' of dear friends here on the porch.

Don, I wonder if you could wear an inner tube or padding to protect you on the falls...maybe a football helmet with mask, too?

But seriously, I hope you recover quickly and have no more serious "incidents".

Today's chuckles...and more...

...to make your heart merry with joy.

http://www.viralnova.com/awesome-kids/
Little ones give us the heartiest laughs!

p.s. reminds me of a story our pastor Kurt told, yesterday:

A dad was trying to grocery shop with a "terrible twos" cranky toddler. Finally at his wits' end, the dad picked up the boy, held him close, and began making up a song to sing to him, off key and not in any rhyme or rhythm. "You are such a wonderful boy...I love you so much...you make me happy...." etc.

After awhile the boy settled down so dad could finish shopping and check out.

Back at the car, as the dad was fastening his son into his car seat, the little guy said,
"Daddy, sing that song for me, again!"

Which brought tears to my eyes, especially as the pastor explained this as an illustration of prayer (the sermon topic: "Persistent Prayer"). We bring our frustrated turmoil to the Lord, and He comforts us with His Word.

AND, because that message reminded me of a precious account from a missionary letter I read recently. In it, this young gal working in a former Soviet-block country, and enduring so much stress (being searched and interrogated for hours by police, included) wrote:

"...When I was on the metro I just started crying and I was not able to hide it. I was feeling sorry for myself. Why don't people ever think about or understand me? Why don't they try to understand that I don't even have time for myself? What makes people think that I have enough time for everything?

While I was feeling sad in my heart, suddenly heaven opened up and I heard the Heavenly Father singing to me. It was very loud, but very pleasant. I don't understand why other people couldn't hear it because it was so loud. "Zulfia , my Zulfia" (of course it was in my language - only two words "Zulfia, my Zulfia"). He was singing to me and encouraging me by saying, "Even if there is nobody to encourage you, I am your encourager; I am the one who understands you; I am the one who watches over you; I am your teacher and leader; I see you! You are MINE!" WOW, God is singing for me and He knows me by name (Isa 54:4). Was it really God or what? Anyway I was encouraged. The Father knows that what I am doing is only for Him. If there is nobody here for me, He is here for me!

It was the best comforting time, right in front of all the people around me. Unfortunately, these people don't know the living and loving Father! My darkest moments were filled with joy! I didn't share this with anybody here, only with you all; but please don't think that I am more special than other people. No, no! I am just an ordinary and simple girl. Everybody likes to receive hugs and encouragement and I thought I didn't have anybody to hug me or encourage me, but I (we) have an all-knowing Father! He still speaks and sings for His children! He didn't stop singing until I got to my friend's. He loves and cares for us; what a wonderful Father we have! It is good to praise the Lord in every circumstance!...."

AND, believe it or not, here's what I read to Howard as part of our morning devotions, today (from a book--Steadfast In Your Word--of excerpts from Martin Luther's writings):

"...For no one can praise God without first loving Him. No one can love Him unless He makes Himself known to them in the most lovable and intimate fashion. And He can make Himself known only through those words of His which He reveals in us, and which we feel and experience within ourselves. But, where there is this experience, namely, that He is a God who looks upon the lowly and helps only the poor, despised, afflicted, miserable, forsaken, and those who are nothing, there a hearty love for Him is born." [Commentary on "The Magnificat" (Luke 1:46-55) 1521]

Please pray for fire fighters, residents and properties. Fire fighters from interstate and New Zealand have now joined the desperate attempt to control the fires and to save homes, properties and lives.

There are at least 62 fires still burning in NSW, many around Sydney. Smoke is thick in most areas being worse at times with wind changes. No rain in sight and if winds prevail, there is a dangerous possibilities tha some fires will join leaving a 300km plus fire front.

More than 200 homes have been lost. Most schools in the Blue Mountains are closed because of direct fired danger or intense smoke. Hospitals too have been evacuated. This situation has been discribed as the worsed recorded.

Thanks. Chrissy

Chrissy, praying for all harms way In Australian fires.

Edy, what a lovely story. I remember the first time I read that verse in Zephaniah about God singing over me.

Congratulations, Carol. Grandmothering is a wondrous occupation!

Not here. It's a bright sunny day...or at least where there is no smoke.

I had a hearing check this morning, and walked away an owner of the newest, high-tech, computer-programmed hearing aid on the market. My last thorough hearing check was 12-15 years ago, and was told then I had a loss of about 20% in my "good" ear. Since I was gettin' along okay, I decided against a hearing aid at that time.

My "bad" ear is 100% shot, but I already knew that. It has been that way ever since serious illness destroyed it when I was 9-10 years old. Technology is great, but technology cannot make a dead horse pull a plow. That ear is only on my head to balance my facial appearance - if that's even possible.

Today I found out my "good" ear now has a 60% loss - 30% loss of the low tones, and 90% loss of the high tones. I knew I was losing it. It's no wonder I can't stay on key when I sing. Therefore, unless I wanted to take refresher courses in lip reading and ASL, I needed some electronic help.

They initially programmed the new hearing aid to bring the tone losses up to where they should be, and programmed the power to about 80% of normal. I will go back in a week for the final adjustments after I get used to the new device.

I can hear things now that were probably not meant to be heard. After only three hours, I'm finding that hearing my hair grow is a bit annoying. Now I can probably hear my eye lids blink.

There will be no more talking behind my back without me hearing every word. :cop

Here's one for the believe-it-or-not file...

My son and his wife have two dogs and two cats. One of the psychotic cats (aren't they all?) decided it would be good to tear off chunks from a dense foam, rubber-like floor mat and swallow them. They are not chewable, nor are they digestible, and they soon formed a immoveable road block in its intestinal pipeline. Needless to say, the cat was in serious distress.

Well, the cat was quickly ushered to the Vet ER where they took x-rays to locate the blockage. Emergency abdominal surgery was done to remove the many chunks of floor mat. That unplanned visit put a dent in their checkbook to the tune of $2,000.

The cat is back home...the cat is pooping again...the cat is eating and happy...and my son got rid of the floor mat.

Maybe they should trade in their feline critters for a nice goat that will eat anything!
