Dear Jan And Shann

Thank you very much for the prompt response to my questions about the use of dashes. All three examples are meant to use dashes. It was my ignorance that has caused the typos.

Thanks, Jan, for patiently and graciously answering my question re punctuation with quotation marks. I've looked and and bookmarked the link you mentioned. Thanks.
I've also discovered, via a little googling, that the US, British and Australian style guidelines are all different! No wonder it gets confusing!
