"Based on the MN Vikings' less than dismal win/loss record this season, I make a motion that all plans for their new billion $$$$$ stadium be shelved until they prove themselves worthy of said stadium by consistently fielding a winning team."

"Do I hear a second to that motion?"

"I second the motion."

"A motion has been made and seconded. Is there any discussion?"

"Hearing none, all in favor of said motion signify by saying 'Aye'. All opposed say 'Nay'."

"Aye" (A million voices heard in unison)

"Motion carried by unanimous decision."

Oh, we totally need to do that to the Rams here in St. Louis. Actually, let the Cardinals have the money... :D Not only do they actually do well, but many members of the team are known Christians. It's pretty cool, actually. :)

On a totally different note, I just got back from Atlanta for my uncle's funeral. It was a nice ceremony, and I know he's with the Lord, so that's a comfort. I wasn't that close to him, but my mom's the only one left in her immediate family now, so I know it was hard for her. :(

Don, Your loss is our gain! The Panthers are much inclined to "give the game away" in the last five minutes. I'm really glad that didn't happen this time. I wish they'd play all the time like they did yesterday.

Allison, I'm sending a prayer up for your mom. I have three siblings, and I'm at our age much aware of the fragility of life.

And for anyone interested. My second book, Somewhere Beyond the Blue, is available on Amazon now, (also on the Good Read's giveaway list till October 21.) There are fewer poems in this book--so it is $7.99, a dollar cheaper than Don't Frighten the Pansies, (and Amazon has it about 50 cents off that currently.) I'm hopeful this book will be an encouragement for believers and an invitation for nonbelievers, with an occasional smile for everyone. One thing interesting to me is that of the four reviews of my writing on the back of the book, three of them are Faithwriters, including my dear friend, Mariane. The other is from my Bible teacher at church.

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Dear Verna, I checked Amazon, and I'd love it if Mariane and the other two Faithwriters would copy-paste their back cover reviews to post in review of your book at Amazon. I think those reviews are such helpful promotions.

Also, did they give you info on the "search" feature? I think all it would take to bump up sales would be for readers to read a sample of your exquisite poetry.

We're all so proud of you, I dare say! :grouphug3

We should do this with our government, at all levels. Make them earn their pay.

Didn't we choose them to work for us? And, in our best interest? Somehow it didn't work out that way. We have become the slaves while they became overpaid kings and dictators. Me thinks some very bad choices have been made. All of government is corrupt to the core.

Hear, hear!

We need more people like Rudy Boschwitz elected to the federal government. One of the things his opponents used to attack him during campaigns was that "he never authored a single piece of legislation!" Well, what he went to Washington to accomplish was cutting out the old dead wood that gets locked into forever, when the reason for it in the first place no longer applies.

He's quite a guy with a fascinating history ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Boschwitz ) and my kind of legislator.

We have enough red tape bondage already on the books, for sure.

Yep, Rudy was one of the good guys. He always got my vote.

Do you suppose he made his MN Plywood from the DC dead wood? Just a thought...

I just heard from Lisa Mikitarian on Facebook that Verna's husband, Leon, was taken to the hospital this afternoon with numbness on one side. They were doing an MRI to see what is going on with him. I know they both would appreciate our prayers.

God love her. She loves Leon so much and when he hurts, she suffers terribly for him. Leon had had a stroke once before so I'm sure they'll check that first.

I'll post anything else I hear.

Oh my goodness!!! Thanks for posting this news, Mariane.

Didn't Verna say a few days ago that they both had passed their annual physicals with flying colors?

The latest word is that Leon is better and he's home now. Thank You, Lord.

This is not being widely talked about on Facebook so I suppose Verna was keeping it quiet until they knew something. Like she said, "It could have been so much worse!"

My thoughts for today...

I find that growing old is quite alarming in many ways. Just this morning I realized something that has been bothering me for the past several months, but I had never understood exactly why.

You see, when I sit down to breakfast in the morning, it seems that my cereal bowl is closer to my face than it once was. I can't blame it on my glasses, either. It's almost as if someone had sawn an inch or two off the chair legs, but I know that didn't happen.

It's not quite as if my chin was dipping into my milk-soaked Cheerios, but it's getting mighty close to that. Bobbing for Cheerios would be a messy way to eat breakfast.

By the way, no matter where I sit down, I've noticed that all tabletops and desktops seem closer than they once were. Now I think I know why.

I believe the distance from my face down to the part of my anatomy in contact with the chair has been decreasing over time. In other words, my body is shrinking with age.

The only solutions that come to mind are to either use thick chair pads, or shorten all of the table legs, or stop aging.

The stop-aging option doesn’t sound very good. Maybe I'll just sit on some phone books instead.

I don't complain much, but I took a bad hit this morning. It happened while I was blowing the water out of my lawn irrigation system.

Well, klutz that I am, I tripped over the air hose, lost my balance, and went down hard. I fell on top of the air compressor hurting my rib cage. Both wrists were damaged when I tried to break my fall. My knee got banged up, and my head bounced and skidded on the concrete driveway.

I might have cracked a rib - I don't know, but it hurts kinda like previous broken ribs. Both wrists are swollen some, but moveable, so they are probably just sprained. My knee hit the concrete too, but it only hurts a little bit.

My head is a different story. I have a goose egg sized lump just above my right eyebrow. My cheekbone got scraped as did the side of my nose. Now, three hours later, the whole area is turning black and my eye is almost swollen shut.

I was able to get up off the driveway to finish the job and put my equipment away. There has been no dizziness, no blurred vision, and no nausea. Therefore, I don't think there was a concussion. I'm using ice packs to keep the goose egg size lump from growing into an ostrich size egg.

I'm a hurtin' unit and will be for a few days.
