Imagine yourself standing in the shower enjoying the morning wake-up water streaming down your face while singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", or some other favorite tune.

Then, imagine looking down only to catch a glimpse of a 2" long centipede making fast tracks around the shower floor. Yikes!!! That would be a wake-up call!

That was my experience this morning. My shower song quickly changed to an unintelligible version of "Dancing In The Rain". I don't know if those ugly animals bite, but my toes didn't want to find out.

The words "hop in the shower" suddenly took on whole different meaning.

Fortunately, I escaped unharmed, but unfortunately, so did that hairy critter. When I turned the water off, it did a gold metal award-winning swan dive down the drain. Maybe a can of Raid sprayed in the drain would discourage any further attempts to join me in the shower.

What would you have done...besides scream?

That gives me the creeps! I remember a time....

We were joining Campus Crusade staff and had just sold our home and had to rent for a few months while raising support before moving to Headquarters in California at Arrowhead Springs. We just had our second baby and had to bring it home to a house where centipedes also resided. Oh how I hated that!

I understand they will bite but we never experienced that.

It was one of those memories you never forget.

But, thinking about it, I'm not sure which was worse. While in college I was part of a mission trip which went to the West Indies. There I took a shower with a lizard, chameleon, or whatever they're called. Yuck!

GreenLeaves, if it didn't run around, it might have been a gecko. I had one that lived on my ceiling in Vietnam. Sometimes it changed locations, but I never saw it move. They are so cute, and they eat bugs, so s/he was a welcome pet! :P

Don, if I decide to take a bath after dark, I've learned I need to turn on all the lights. One of those skitter critters has startled me more than once when I only had the night light on in the bathroom. It's amazing how even teeny-tiny-brained insects seem to have a will to survive! :(

Here's a wonderful bit of history I'm sure all will appreciate. Howard belongs to the Gideons, and he just forwarded this to me:

My dad was a Gideon also, Edy, and seemed to always be filling the pulpit for some vacationing preacher. But he loved doing it. It was interesting reading about their beginnings.

Things are quiet here on the Eastern Front. Grandsons are with their mother and I'm lazing around and getting ready to watch the new (relatively) movie about Lincoln. Down South he isn't very popular but being a Yankee by birth, I love him!

Have a great weekend!

I just popped a Door county Apple-Pecan dessert in the oven to eat after dinner. I have some Cool Whip topping for it too. Yumm!

There will be no dinner cooking for me tonight, either. I'm going to LeaAnn Chin to bring home some beef/broccoli, or maybe some lemon chicken for dinner - served with their veg. fried rice, and maybe an egg roll.

Oh, did I mention the Apple-Pecan dessert? Yep, I did, but it's worth mentioning again. 8)

I was up and at 'em at 4:30 this morning, and had a day's work done by noon. I'm gettin' hungry.

Speaking of lizards...

We had fun with geckos during one of our trips to Hawaii. We spent a couple of days on Molokai in a remote cabana on the beach. The cabana only had screens on the windows, and after dark with our lights turned on, dozens of geckos would cling to the screens.

I found out they can move faster than greased lightning. When I tossed a rolled-up towel toward the screen, they would disappear - instantly. They would be gone in a split second, but would slowly crawl back onto the screen after a couple of minutes.

I did that over and over again, and since there was no radio or TV, it was fun entertainment.

More critter stories - our pastor posted this on facebook:

A tiny tree frog about the size of a quarter takes up residence each night on the side of our house, right under the motion detector light, which is occasionally tripped by passing cars. The light draws bugs, and -zap- my little buddy gets 'em. I just turned on the regular soffit light right over the llittle guy. Bon appetit!

Smart little frog! A couple days later, Pastor posted an update:

My little froggy-buddy, Ed, didn't show up for work tonight.
I wonder what's bugging him?

Next night:

Whew. I went out to look for Ed in his usual hangout. Not there. On the way back in, I glanced at the window next to our door- and there's Ed and three little buddies, in various shades of brown and green- Ed, Ted, Ned and Charlie.

Next night, with a photo of the cute little buggers silhouetted on the window:
Tonight's tree frog check. Ed, Ted and Fred showed up. Charlie seems indisposed. I suppose he might've croaked. Hope not. In 24 summers here, I've seen tree frogs in the back yard, but never in the front like this.

Please pray for my daughter-in-law, JoJo. Her mother past away this evening after struggling for months with a second round of breast cancer and chemotherapy in two years. The chemo was helping but unfortunately this time the cancer got to her liver and spread rapidly.

Dear Chrissy, you know how my heart goes out to your DIL and family. I'll never forget how you kept vigil with me via these forums the night my niece Lisa was dying. Even though we know they just took an earlier flight to help get those mansions ready for the rest of us, it still leaves an unbearable ache for those of us left to mourn their absence in the flesh.

Thanks for letting us know so we can support JoJo and family in prayer.

I'm so sorry, Chrissy. It has to be incredibly hard. I remember. Even if you think you are prepared for that, it just hurts. In fact, for some reason, today I miss my mommy so much. (And its been 35 years this November)
