Our first grandson, Asher, was born today!
We have a prayer request for him. After he was born, both our daughter, Andrea, and he had fever; and Andrea had an elevated white blood cell count. They were a little worried about infection, but the blood work took a long time coming back. Also, they were a little concerned about rapid breathing. By the time the blood work came back, they were concerned that Asher was too cold, and they said that could also be a sign of infection. They put him on 48 hours’ of antibiotics and ordered more blood work. The latest report—after that blood work—is that they are not worried about infection (but he remains on antibiotics). They also did a chest X-ray and eliminated pneumonia. However, his blood sugar and his oxygen are low.
So, bottom line, he is hooked up to an IV (antibiotics and, I think, nutrition), he is hooked up to oxygen, they cannot keep him in the room, Andrea cannot nurse him (because of the low blood sugar), and they cannot hold him (although they can go to the nursery to be with him and touch him).
Andrea and her husband, Joe, don’t think all of this is a “crisis,” but they have asked for everyone’s prayers.

“The chief purpose of life … is to increase according to our capacity our knowledge of God by all the means we have, and to be moved by it to praise and thanks. To do as we say in the Gloria in Excelsis ... We praise you, we call you holy, we worship you, we proclaim your glory, we thank you for the greatness of your splendor.” J.R.R. Tolkien
