Allison, your friends have beautiful harmony-and yes! I think I heard you!

Mariane, Sorry about your eye. I had that a long time ago and don't know what I used --so thanks to Nurse Edy to the rescue!

Barb, Sending a prayer up for you.

Sunday hugs!

I used to get conjunctivitis quite often as a youngster. I used plain salt water, warmed to a comfortable temperature and soaked a clean washcloth in it before putting it on the affected eye. One time I got really bold--or crazy--and put four drops of witch hazel, quickly followed by four drops of water, and I tell you, that worked like a charm! But I don't recommend that now--stick with the warm saline compress.

Well, today marks six months since my hip replacement surgery.... Certainly not something I was expecting to have to do before I turned 30. I've been doing really well. Pretty much NO pain except for the occasional twinge, and I'm walking better than I have in over 2 years. I know there were a lot of thoughts and prayers on my behalf from all of you, and I felt them, for sure! Even the therapists, nurses, doctor, and doctors assistants were amazed at my recovery.

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been six months. Oddly enough it seems both a short and long time ago. Short because I find it hard to believe I’m doing so well in just six months, and long because when I look at all I’ve done since then (recovery, turning 30, my writing conference, the children’s musical, etc.) I can’t believe I’ve done all of that in only six months…. Seems like longer.

One last thing, on a related note. I'd love for you to "pass on" your prayers for my friend Beth and her recovery from her hip surgery. I mentioned her in my last post as her kids were the ones who sang at the Cardinals game. This is her second hip replacement in 10 years. She still can't even put weight on the leg, she'll have to do it all again for the other hip in a few months. :(

Our birthday party for Laurie is going to be a surprise party---because her 1st day of birthday was Sunday, the 11th! So, she won't be expecting it.

Wish I knew what her favorites are. Maybe we should have a watermelon fest.

:birthday to you, Laurie!

So glad, Allison, that your hip is doing so well. My son who had hip replacement surgery last year is doing well also. Praying for your friend.

Beautiful, Edy--or is that Beautiful Edy? :) I sent the link to my grandson who was in his high school band and in his college band for two years. He played the tuba and for us, it could have been a solo performance because our eyes always followed him. I was always amazed at the maneuvers they did, as I was was the ones here.

We've enjoyed this cool week. We look forward to some days at the beach after Labor Day.

Hoping all my friends here are doing well.

They were saying on the news the other day that we're experiencing the coolest summer since 1919. Temps, up until the other day, were in the upper 70s-low 80s, when normally they'd be in the mid to upper 80s. Oh, great, I got a computer with a stiff space key. :x No wonder I have to keep separating words that run together.

For the past dozen or more years, our MN winters have been less servere with warmer than normal temperatures (-20 degrees has been a rare occurance), and no major snow storms (2-3 day blizzard). We have had some hot/humid summer weather, but again, not like previous years.

Not that anyone would remember or even care, I have mentioned a time or two here in the past that I love Southern Gospel music. Southern Gospel quartets are a favorite, and I enjoy hearing several of the artists who do that.

A favorite of mine is coming to the Twin cities area. The Hoppers will be singing a concert, one evening only, in an suburban church (25 miles away) in about three weeks. I bought a ticket to hear them. I got a close-up seat, too!

I'm going all by my little old self to hear them sing. I can hardly wait!

Last week I mentioned that I was scheduled to be guest speaker for my new church's "Thursday Gathering" of 50+ age group people. Well, yesterday was the day, and there were about 30 people attending the event.

I had practiced my speech at home several times, and everything went as planned. I presented "My Woodcarving Story" with related devotional content woven throughout. My talk lasted 40 minutes followed by a 15-20 minute "show and tell" using my carvings that were displayed on a table. There is a story behind most of the carvings, ya know...and they wanted to hear them.

Many questions were asked, and some pictures were even taken...including some of me. When the meeting was finished, all went into the church cafe for a beef stroganoff lunch.

Several weeks ago I had asked the Pastor if I could serve in that way. He said, "Sure, go for it!" I praise the Lord I was allowed to do that in a large church where only a small number of people know me. I met a few more yesterday.

So glad you got a warm reception for your speech, Don.

We had excitement before church started with two fire alarms. --an electrical problem in the system, but we had to leave and return twice. That was not easy to do with 3000 people!

Blessed Sunday wished to all!

Verna, did you say 3,000 people, as in three thousand people? That must be some worship service. I haven't been in a church that large in many years!

Edy that was quite a drill. Imagine the hours that went into practicing! Too bad the Super Bowl can't take lessons from them for their half-time.

Don, I think it's wonderful that you're speaking again. Your work is so good but your testimony is even better.

I bet you'll all love this link:

I'm late getting lunch on the table. I'll check back later today.

Hugs.

My church has about 3,000 people that attend a contempory service in the big tiered auditorium. However, they also have a traditional service with about 400 attending in their Chapel. There are two services of each type, and they pack the house for all four services. I go to the smaller traditional service in the Chapel.

"Breaking News" announced on the Fox News channel just moments ago...

It seems that a group of high school students led by their science teacher made the amazing discovery that the consuming public is being misled.

Using multiple laboratory tests, they examined "Oreo Double Stuff" and found the "stuff" is not double as advertised. The weight of the "stuff" came up short. The volume of the "stuff" was found lacking. The final test measuring thickness of the "stuff" was also found wanting.

Those who believe they have been consuming and enjoying double the "stuff" all along can never savor the rich goodness of the "stuff" in the same way again.

Also, there is just something about a new name of "Oreo Almost-Double Stuff" that would not be quite as appealing as was the original name.

What would we do without your humor,Don? You're such a bright spot in all our lives and in spite of all you've been through, you let your funny seep through and make us die laughing.

You're a national treasure. We should erect a monument in your likeness (with lots of pigeons sitting on your head and shoulders) :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :rolling :hide :hide :hide :hide :hide
