I watched something take place in church this morning that brought a smile to my lips and a tear to my eyes. It wasn't funny or sad, but rather, it involved the elderly couple (maybe 70+ or -) immediately in front of me, and it brought back past memories.
You see, the congregation was asked to stand for the singing of hymns. After only 2-3 words of the first hymn were sung, the couple spontaneously reached out to hold each other's hand. As they did that, they looked at each other with a tender smile, and moved closer until their bodies gently touched. They appeared to be truly one in worship of their Lord.
They get it...and they have it. The "it" is a God-centered true-love relationship they share together as one in Him.
My bride, Carol, and I shared that kind of special relationship. It was a God-centered relationship and love affair that continued for almost 50 years until the Lord called her Home in March. I believe few couples today will experience or even understand "it".
About that couple in church today: They get it...and they have it.
