A Klick

Postby dub » Wed Jun 12, 2013 3:13 pm

So, at prayer breakfast today the discussion turned to "a klick" - note, all in our group are Viet Nam Vets. The Col. said .6 of a mile, Hal said half a mile. I sided with Hal. Jack said he didn't use Klicks on his job in the Navy. Any informed opinions? ... I know what google says, but I want practical experience definitions. Like, one klick to the wire, meant how far you could run while being chased by a dozen angry men ... lol

A "Klick" is slang for a kilometer is it not? That would be 0.621371192 Mile.

All right I admit I cheated and looked it up.

And I couldn't run a klick unless the Good Lord was running it for me! :D
God Bless the beasts and the children
Give them shelter from the storms.
Children are our tomorrow
Keep them daily from the sorrow
Of the beasts in life

Back when I used to fly Search and Rescue (looking for lost hikers and crashed/lost planes) we used a similar term, "tick" to refer to the distance we flew every 60 seconds as a predetermined speed. Not sure if that applies here, but I felt compelled to post it.

I got out of as many running assignments that I could! My strength was in weight lifting.
