Well, I forgot to ask them to apply PTO to my standby shift on Saturday night and so after I got paid today I calculated the bills and we have a grand total of $4 to last us two weeks until I get paid again.
So of course we needed groceries and they went on the credit card tonight. We need more stuff too like gas and fresh food over the next few weeks, but at least we have stuff to eat for the moment. It was particularly brutal this paycheck because Ryan signed up for two online classes this summer and the payment comes out on June 1st and that's when rent is due and of course we're paying more for rent because it's a nicer place. AND the paycheck was shorted by a lot due to the loss of that shift (12 hours).
At least we'll be back ahead when I get paid again. Thankfully the conference is mostly paid for already.
I'm frustrated, but the reality is we're really blessed. We still have food, transportation, shelter, and very important things like internet access.
There's a zillion other things to watch on Netflix when we finish season six of Doctor Who, which will probably happen in the next week. I have all kinds of recipes I've posted to Pinterest which I haven't had a chance to try, and with the need to use the stuff in our cupboards rather than running out to get takeout, I have the opportunity to try them. We still have 24/7 access to the gym, a Wii with all kinds of games, and sunny weather with beaches and parks to check out anytime. Just because we have to scale back a little these next two weeks doesn't mean we're going to suffer by any means.
I played tonight at the Friday night deal we sometimes go to. It was an acoustic set with just Pastor Dave on guitar/singing and me. Super fun to improvise and play with a good musician.
I thought about going down to the beach and playing for money, too.
I made $35 in an hour in Seattle, in the rain, in a deserted area, before my wedding with a sign begging for change to pay for guest food. Just think of what I could score on a sunny beach in LA!
Glad you had a good 30th, Allison.
Hey Pup, are you going to try to make dairy-free fudge for me? Coconut milk should do it, I would think. I like the plain stuff, nice and chocolatey, no nuts or other contaminants.
I promise I'll share...I'm still on a diet - sometimes.
Okay, time for Pinteresting ideas for the food in my cupboard, which involves a lot of beans, and tomatoes, and pumpkin. Maybe not all in the same dish.
