Thanks for reminding us, Don. The days do tend to get away from me!

If you stop by the porch, today, Joanney, I have to tell you what encouraged me more than anything when I faced a biopsy in my twenties. My supervisor from work had left a small vase with a flower in it on the bedside table when I signed in to my hospital room. Along with it she included a note:

"The Great Physician is on the case. All is well!"

What a long life and ministry he has had!

My sister is having back surgery Friday.

Joanney, you are surrounded with prayer.

Carol, I'll be praying for your sister tomorrow and I'm sure the others will, too.

This Email came from Joanney tonight. She asked me to post it on the porch:

Sorry for the delayed update, but I am finally coherent enough to try.

Surgery took longer than expected: closer to 3 hours than the scheduled 2. I guess things were stuck together more than she usual, which happens with endrometriosis. Otherwise it went fine.
I have been sleepy most of the day, but the pain makes it hard to sleep, especially since I like to move around in my sleep and I cannot change positions at all without inviting extreme pain. But I did get a nap in and feel much better because of it. I am finding that even talking affects my stomach muscles and therefore hurts.

During the past 20 hours my back yard has received over a foot of heavy snow. Some areas of MN got over 2' feet of the stuff. Others only received a wimpy 4-6 inches - a mere dusting. It's been crazy like that for weeks - a time when spring should have arrived.

I mean, look at the calendar! We are only a week and a half away from May. This is crazy! We're talking all-time record snowfalls this month. Tonight will break the April record for low temperature for this date. It was predicted a month or two ago that spring flooding would be non-existent. But now, record flooding is expected.

At this time of the year tulips and daffodils should be blooming. The rhubarb should be growing nicely. Leaves on the trees should be popping out. The lilacs should be getting ready to bloom. The geese and robins should be nesting. The lawn mowers should be tuned up and ready. Spring should be busting out all over.

The lake ice should have melted 2-3 weeks ago, but is still about 2' thick. Our state fishing opener is only a couple of weeks away. Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Well, that's not likely to happen this year. At least a couple of spring fishing contests have been cancelled.

We're likely to hear the sound of the big plows clearing the streets of snow in July and August. Minnesota residents should prepare now for year-'round snow shoveling action.

I think I will move out. They say Hawaii is a nice place.

Don, I fear we're going to miss Spring this year. We'll jump from winter one day (30 degrees) to summer (88 degrees) the next day. Strangest weather, isn't it?

I hope we hear something from Joanney today, Pam. Anyone who hears from her, please post, ok?

The tragedy in Boston gets worse by the minute. I keep watching because I can't stay away from it.
My sister who lives there said things are so tense everywhere in the surrounding towns, too.

I hope everyone on the porch is well.

Our weather has been just as weird. We started the week off in the 80's, with lows in the 70's, and tonight we are going to have a frost and temps are back down in the thirties. No snow, but still....

We should have already had the first crops in from the farmers, but there was hardly anybody at the farmers market last week, no produce to sell.

The weather reminds me of this verse:

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease." --Genesis 8:22

Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

I am doing much better today. Yesterday it seemed as if the pain and weakness in the muscles around the inciision would never subside enough for me to go home tomorrow. Today, I have been able to sit up in a chair for a few hours, take a walk down the hall, "eat" (still on liquid diet) and get the catheter out. They also now have me on oral painkillers -- one of the listed requirements for going home. Looks much more possible and probable than it did last night. Amazing what a good night's sleep can make in the recovery.

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns.

I'm so glad to hear from you, Joanney, and hope you'll soon be able to go home. I know you're glad this is behind you. I pray you don't pick up any infections in the hospital. My sister ended up staying in the hospital 2 months last year, instead of the 1 week it took for her recover from minor surgery. The MRSA infection was especially troublesome because it's now in her system and she has to be checked all the time. I'll pray a wall of protection around you to prevent even a minor infection from setting in.
I know the boys will be glad to see you back home.

Love you all.

So the brother of one of my classmates lives in Watertown and the gun battle last night was pretty much in their yard. One bullet went through their living room and knocked the TV off of the wall and another hit their SUV. He and his wife and the dog were huddled together in their bathtub.  I was actually really good friends with his brother in elementary school, and their dad was a pastor at a local church. CRAZY!

Allison - I'm sure that is the same fellow I heard interviewed on tv, today. He had a great opportunity to give his testimony and glory to God. I was even impressed at the news commentator (CBS, I think it was) that didn't cut him off, as often happens when a Christian gets to speak. Small world!
