Let's see...if you travel from NC to here by snowshoe, then, I wouldn't expect you to arrive until sometime in June or July. Today's batch of ribs will probably be long gone by then.

What an absolutely beautiful singer, Mariane! Thanks for the reminder. Such a dreary world today here, but I've sunshine in my heart and the lights on in the house!
Don, we may put our wings on to get to your house before the snow is gone!
Edy, I figured everybody recognized me--about the only one left in black!--but I picked a color easy to find and remember where it was.
I'm just sitting here waiting for that call to travel to Winston Salem and be there to welcome Great grandson Titus!

I'll pick number 13, since it's 2013. I normally pick my age in things like this, but that won't work for this one. :D

Remember Rob Bell, the Mars Hill pastor who came out for universalism (the theology that promises that everyone will go to heaven, regardless of their faith)? He is part of the emergent church which has evangelical Christians standing on their heads in dismay.

Rob has gone a step further now by endorsing gay marriages. "And in the end, even the elect shall be deceived."

Any comment?

On the authority of God's Word, it is certain that unless Bell falls on his face before Almighty God in true repentance, the gates of hell will be swinging wide open for him and his like-minded followers.

Mariane, I feel like those who have known the truth and pollute it have a great responsibility for those they lead away from the teaching in God's word.

Anybody on the porch have snow? We just have rain--cold, dreary, 40 degrees and rain!

The world is full of people who have heard the Truth, they might have a head knowledge of scripture, they attempt to live what they perceive as a good Christian life, and of course, they claim the label of Christianity.

But, a great many of them are living a lie because they don't truly know Him. They have never been convicted of their lost sinful condition, nor have they ever by repentant faith alone submitted their life to Him as their Savior and Lord. They might have lots of religion in their life, but don't have the Lord in their heart.

Only God can know, but perhaps Bell is one of them.

About 10 inches of the stuff!!

We had a rather interesting Sunday. It didn't start snowing until about 8:00 or 8:15, so right when we were going to church. By the time we got to church, it was REALLY coming down hard. So they decided to cancel the second service. After the first service, there was an accident right by the church, and someone went to help the driver and brought him into the church, which then became a bit of a staging ground for the police, firemen, and EMS. The guy was talking and walking and everything... He just banged up his nose some. He didn't go to the hospital or anything. A couple of the police officers were quite impressed with our saltwater aquarium in the children's area, where everything was happening. To quote one of the officers, "That is one heck of an angelfish."

I think it's safe to say there hasn't been a Palm Sunday quite like this.

Here's something we learned this morning. It gives added significance to the palm-strewn Halleluia reception of Jesus that we celebrate today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t20GspyQJTM - "Lamb Selection Day!"
(this isn't our congregation or pastor, but a clip the adult class leader wanted to share with us)

"Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!" Halleluia!

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. --Isaiah 53:6

I wish you all could hear little Charles sing, "Hallelujah, Hallelujah" to a tune I'd never heard before. It must be something he learned at the Christian School he attends. His voice is so pure, so beautiful, he could easily sing in a boys' choir.

I love the Easter season even more than Christmas. I've always felt I spent much more time being excited about Easter Sunday than being heartbroken on Good Friday. To think that the God of creation would become flesh and take on the sins of all the world is way, way beyond my comprehension. Other religions demand works to gain us admission but our loving Savior provided it free! The only thing He asks is that we "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." Nothing more; nothing less will assure us of heaven.

I had read in several places online that the next major doctrine of the church to be attacked will be the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Already, some churches are ignoring the resurrection but I wonder how they'll handle this cornerstone of our belief, "that If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9,10)

I pray for Rob Bell. He has considerable influence among the college age and young adults and his apostasy will cause considerable damage to the church. Many evangelical leaders are in touch with him, asking him to return to his faith.
"I long, O I long to be holy, conformed to His will and His Word.
I long to be gentle and Christ-like; I long to be just like my Lord."
