Preparing a Manuscript for Smashwords

I can promise you I wont be stressing; I have neither the time or the energy. A strange sense of humor also helps.

Okay, I'll follow through on the instructions above and start to compile my word document. I was not joking when I said the I have 'hundreds' of poems and so will try to put them in some sort of order for different volumes.

If you are interested, and have the time, here are three links to what is pretty typical of what I write. I would appreciate your comments, if you have time, as to their ebook suitability.

I just read your three poems - very nice! We have similar styles; in fact, I noticed a few places where we share an appreciation for certain deliveries, for example:

"Wake up! And follow your dream."

I just used this style in the last line of this week's Faithwriters challenge:

"Stand firm! The righteous never dread..."

Since you have so many of these gems, you might consider compiling a year-long devotional of 365 poems. These are very popular in today's Christian marketplace.

Thanks for the compliment Kenn. I'll be honest and admit that right now I needed that encouragement.

I like the idea of the daily devotional and it's something I had in my ideas list. Maybe a poem in each day along with the lesson that each poem taught me and/or the testimony that went along with it. I'll get started on that, but in the meantime I'll put some poetry out there in a smaller compilation following the guidelines you have already given me.

That way I can go through the learning curve of formatting for ebooks (I'll want specific page breaks and an understanding of page sizes etc for the devotional).

The journey has become much more exciting.

Hello

I'm wondering if you can help me. I am interested in publishing an eBook on Smashwords and have begun a new work. I've been jumping ahead to try to locate a suitable picture for my eBook cover and have come up with a few ideas. Am having issues trying to locate the right size pic - am looking for a free photo to submit to a designer, with no royalties and am looking into sites like PhotoPin, but have been slowed down trying to find something the right size and also in trying to understand their copyrights. I thought that we could use PhotoPin pics for free but when I right click on the photo to see their copyright, it says we cannot use them for 'commercial use'. Please help?

You might want to check out Morguefile.com for royalty free photos; however, the chances of finding one exactly the right size for your cover are slim. I would suggest downloading a free graphics program like Gimpshop so you can change sizes and add text to your cover.
