Our Niece

Our 17-year-old niece is pregnant. I'd seen some cryptic posts a few weeks ago that now make sense. She had told me at Christmas that she is moving in with her boyfriend after she turns 18 in April, even though they "know it's not the Christian thing to do" (due to issues with her mom and step-dad).

She had said that my MIL wants her to not say anything about it, keep it a secret, but as she said, it's going to be obvious soon. She posted a picture of her belly on Facebook and I think she was supposed to find out if they are having a girl or boy today.

She's been working two jobs and is trying to finish her senior year. Her boyfriend turned 21 shortly after Christmas. He seems like a nice kid, but doesn't talk a lot, so we haven't been able to get to know him very well yet, but Jolynn loved him lol.

Please pray that even though the situation isn't ideal, that the family pulls together for them, and helps them to see what God's will is for them. We told our kids and explained that they didn't do things the way God wants us to do them, but we still have to love them.

I've known Alison since she was 4 years old (and her brother was 2) and excited about getting an "Aunt Shari" for Christmas, when I went down to meet my future in-laws the Christmas before we got married. So I'm going to be a great-aunt in July. And this may change my plans for the conference, as we may be going down to see her after she has the baby. So finances will decide what we are going to get to do, as I'm not sure I can afford two big trips so close together. Also not sure if I'm up to driving the 12-14 hour trip with the kids solo, as Frank probably won't be able to take off from work/school to go with us.

Certainly praying Shari! We have a similar situation where our youngest son Colby (21) and his on again off again girlfriend Cortney are having our second grandchild in May.
We are grateful that she decided not to get an abortion as her family suggested- Praise God for looking out for the baby, but it is not an ideal situation as our youngest is VERY immature and his girlfriend although responsible and sweet is only 20 and still acts very young. As you said we love them in spite of their choices...just like our Father loves us in spite of the multitude of bad decisions we still make and he knows we will make.
Lets each pray for these little babies that they will grow up embracing Jesus!

Praying for your family as well. Babies are a blessing and so special, but it's hard enough when things are done the way we're supposed to, let alone so young and not married.

She posted earlier today that they are having a girl.
