Here, Critique Circle, or Both?

Postby jessjenkins » Tue Feb 12, 2013 3:18 am

Hi~
I'm new to FW and am still trying to figure out how to make the best use of all the great things here. I posted an article in the Critique Circle about a week ago but there are no critiques on it yet. Is there a way to get the word out that there is a piece waiting to be critiqued or would it have more of a chance of getting critiqued if I posted it here? I'm just concerned there aren't many articles posted in the Children's category over in the Circle so it doesn't get much traffic...

As a side note: If anyone reading this would like to help me out, there is an article in the Children's category "The Interests of Others" that needs a critique! :)

I will go check it out right now. Children's is my favorite genre. But to answer your question, it's a good idea to put your stories or part if they are particularly long into the circle, but then come here and provide a direct link to the article and be specific in the type of feedback you're looking for. For example: Do you just want my overall thoughts on an article or a detailed descriptions with suggestions on how to make it better, or just a basic edit that points out errors.

The fact that you put the title there is good and the section it is posted makes it easier to find, but if you go to the top where you would type in the url or the address of the website, copy it, and then come here or in the Open Forum and ask for feedback, you'll probably get more that way.

Another way to get feedback is to leave. Often people will appreciate a comment on their piece, enough to click on your name and repay the favor.

You can also give a link to your profile page like I have below in my signature. That way every time you post on the board, people can click on your profile page and see your stories.
The FAQ thread will also give you a great spot to find answers to common questions. Just click on the blue letters, and if I did it right it should take you right there.

Just to help others find your story, I took the liberty of copying the address and posting it here for you. But you may want to ask for feedback in either the Water Cooler or The Open Forum because those threads tend to get more traffic. But here is the link to your children's story The Interest of Others
