I "created" a recipe for dinner tonight that we thought was great.

I sliced and sauteed a zucchini and summer squash in a little olive oil. Then, I added a can of plain diced tomatoes, some garlic powder, a little black pepper, and crushed basil leaves. The mixture was stirred and allowed to simmer a few minutes.

Then, the above sauce was spooned onto cooked angel hair pasta. Serve it with buttered French bread sprinkled with garlic powder and broiled lightly.

Oh...I didn't mention this before, but as soon as your check has cleared my bank, I will name the secret ingredient item that was purposely left out of my recipe. Without it, the recipe is just another ho-hum meal. However, the secret ingredient will turn it into a prize-winning delight.

Hmmm...I could make a lot of money with this venture.

In just a few short hours the pleasing aroma of this tasty snack item will be wafting through our kitchen.

POPPIN' FRESH BARBECUPS

3/4 lb. ground beef

1/2 c. barbecue sauce

1 tbsp. minced onion

2 tbsp. brown sugar

1 can Pillsbury Tender-Flake baking powder biscuits

3/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese

In skillet, brown the beef and drain. Add barbecue sauce, onion, and brown sugar. Separate biscuit dough into 12 biscuits. Place one in each of 12 ungreased muffin cups, pressing dough up sides to edge of cup. Evenly spoon meat mixture into cups. Evenly sprinkle each with cheese.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 400 degrees until golden brown. Serve warm.

Note: This recipe is very old. The Pillsbury biscuits are no longer available in 12 count tubes. Purchase a 8 count and a 4 count tube instead. The Tender-Flake name has also been changed to Grand's Flaky biscuits.

At the Super Bowl halftime, here is my assessment:

* The Ravens will likely win the game. Good for them!

* Advertisers paid millions for seconds to air those commercials? Every one I saw should have ended up on the cutting room floor. Perhaps non-funny commercials are the new "in thing" for Super Bowl games.

* The half-time show was nothing but a bunch of nonsensical trash.

Maybe next year will be better, but I doubt it.

I didn't stay for much of the game, but the one or two commercials I saw (didn't watch too closely) were pretty funny, and the actors looked familiar. Then again, I think the Youth Department was substituting their own commercials.

I love to watch football, but haven't followed it closely enough in the last 11 years to even know who plays for the local team, let alone the rest of the NFL. I decided when I went to work overnights when Greg was in kindergarten that sleep was more important than watching the Vikings on Sunday afternoon, or Monday or Thursday night. After three years of overnights, I never got back into the habit of watching it regularly, partly because we have not had TV most of the time. Tonight I decided I was too tired and have too much homework to spend watching the game with a hundred high-schoolers. So I came home and need to either go to bed or focus on the homework that I have been attempting to do.

Last night I placed most of the Super Bowl commercials I had seen during the first half on the chopping block. I gave up and went to bed soon after the half-time show.

However, this morning after watching a few of the commercial re-runs, some of them looked much better to me. It was almost as if I had not seen them last night. What's up with that?

Maybe nothing seemed funny to me yesterday. It was probably just one of those days.

Except for my delicious cake, even the snacks I had prepared for the game were not as good as expected. That wasn't funny either.

I liked the Paul Harvey commercial and the Clydesdale trainer. --read a book during halftime show--was pulling for San Francisco--oh well!

We have church at 6:00 on Sunday night and the pastor's sermonette on "grace" before communion filled my soul more than goodies or the game. I have to admit I was reluctant to leave the game, but we live close and only missed the first part. (forgot to tape it!)

My son, T, is in court with his ex today for a very important hearing. T has been trying to have this custody hearing since last August when his ex was found to have broken so many of the judge's directives from the previous hearing. T is hoping the judge will call my oldest grandson because he and his little brother are so continually torn up over all this. Please pray that something can be settled today so the boys can get some peace and some closure to all this.

Things just go from bad to worse. T called to say the judge recused himself and turned all the information over to a new judge. It could be anywhere from 1 to 5 months before a new trial is put on the docket. We have wondered all along if the judge's friendship with the opposing attorney impacted his decisions in a negative way. All he would say was that he was pursuing another type of legal work. This is so hard on everyone, especially the kids. Their Christian psychologist that Tim takes them to says she is extremely worried about their emotional state as we all are. These trials and hearings are not cheap, let me tell you and we will continue to do everything we possibly can to get T and the kids the best legal representation available. John and I have rocked and hugged and wept with the little ones by the hour and cherished every second of it. Dozens of times a day we feeltheir arms around us and hear, "I love you, Grandma/Grandpa" or "I'm so glad we live with you. This will always be our home." You talk about having your heart ripped out!

I want so much to be well and strong (and young!) so I can do more things with them. I keep them supplied with choc chip cookies and cupcakes but have to leave running up and down the beach with them to their dad and grandpa.

Ugh. I"m sorry. Praying!

Found out today that thanks to the mild heart murmur I had as a child that no one has even mentioned in 10 years, and have been told isn't there anymore, I have to see a cardiologist before my surgery now. As if my over analytical mind (Miss OAM, as I affectionately call her) needs one more thing to worry about. I mean, I get it. I know it's better to be safe than sorry. (Plus I figure if I'm going to reach my out of pocket max this year, might as well get the full work-up done, right?) But it still gives my mind one more thing to think/worry about.

Allison, I wonder if that is pretty common these days. When I had surgery this summer, they required me to have some heart tests done before the surgery. Hope everything goes well for you.

Oh, I know it's pretty common. It's just one more thing to worry about between now and then, is all. Even though I'm sure it won't be a big deal. My over analytical mind loves to imagine all the possible scenarios, and then go beyond the reasonably possible ones. lol
