Edy, when I tried to add you to the FW group at Facebook, it said you were already a member. When you first log in to Facebook (on your home page, not your wall/timeline page), there should be a list of groups on the left side and FW should be on it. If it doesn't show, point your mouse to the word groups, then the word more should show up to the right of it. If you click on that, it will give you a complete list of the groups you're in.

Mariane, having your computer crash shouldn't have affected your group status at Facebook. I did check, though, and you weren't a member. I tried to add you and got this message. "You can't add an old member of the group who hasn't requested to join the group again." So I think you'll have to ask Deb about this.

We never did Thanksgiving in my family (since it was just another day of deer hunting), and as I've mentioned, I don't like this time of year (to put it mildly), but I do have one tradition, and that's to watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzirJuLVOFA

Thanks, Laurie! I actually found THREE FW groups, one with over 200 members, another that Pam Hetland started with eight members, and even one "Faithwriter Friends on Facebook" that I started way back in 2008 when I didn't find too many FW folks around - which group I thought had disappeared. (I'm told my group "has been migrated").

One of our members (who works somewhere in food service) has started, on his own, serving a noon meal on Sundays at our church. So, for the first time, ever, he is also serving Thanksgiving dinner this year! I've always said that's the way it should be - like the pilgrims' community meal - but I'm locked in to the Johnson-family Thanksgiving reunion. Too sad I'll be missing it, seeing a longstanding dream of mine come true.

Edy, it's too bad you can't be two people for a day so you could be in both places.

I dreamed about my dad this morning. So many of my dreams about him have been sad or disturbing, but this one wasn't. He looked healthy, and I got to touch him, see his smile and hear his voice. It's like I got to spend a few more seconds with him.

Aw, Laurie, that's so precious! I'm glad for you that God gave you such a blessing just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Thanksgiving dinner I prepared turned out even better than I had hoped. Everyone seemed to enjoy it because I heard no complaints. I keep saying "this is the last year I'm doin' this", but nobody will take the hint and take over.

There was one little scary moment for me, though. We have double ovens...one above the other. I had taken a veg hot dish out of the lower oven to stir, and then, it needed to be returned to the oven to finish cooking. As I was turning and bending down to place the dish back into the lower oven, I lost my balance and began to fall toward the 350 degree open oven. Fortunately, I had a firm hold of the hot dish using hot pads in both hands. The dish stopping abruptly against the oven rack and the back edge of the open oven door broke my fall...preventing me from falling into the hot oven.

Serious burns of the face, hands, arms, and upper body would likely have been the result had my fall not stopped in time. Just another reason to be thankful that it didn't happen as it could have happened.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My dad had a fall today too. Must be in the air. He was leaning forward in our rocking chair to see the cardinal outside the window in the feeder and the chair went completely forward and he fell smack on his bum. Cracked it pretty good (pun not intended). But he's okay now!

Don, I am so grateful you did not fall into the oven. The Lord must of been looking out for you.

I too declared that it was my last big Thanksgiving dinner and had no takers. That was two years ago and this is the second year that my hubby and I have had Thanksgiving alone. It seems his daughters don't want to be bothered and my daughter has to go to two dinners with her husbands side of the family. A early lunch-dinner with his mom and a sit down dinner with his father.

We ate our dinner at 3:00 and I had everything cleaned up by 4:00! Pecan pies is waiting for me with a nice hot cup of coffee anytime I want . . .

I am glad I finally said enough . . . I still do Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July, Birthday's and summer BBQ's and thought they could handle doing Thanksgiving . . . guess I was wrong . . . but I am thankful for the nice "QUIET" day that we had on top of a very nice meal.

We got back last night from Texas. Spent a week with our friends Jo and Jim, then headed to Dallas and spent a couple days with the kids. The had guests, a family with four kids, so they put us up at a very fancy 4 star hotel for a couple nights. We will be going back at Christmas and probably spend a week with them. Had dinner today with my brother, his family, and friends. Then we all went to the movies and saw Skyfall the new James Bond. Very loud! I enjoyed it, but Bill thought it was boring, not as many techno gadgets or fancy cars.

We heard bad news just a little while ago about our friend Jo. She had spent 5 weeks in the hospital, with pneumonia, and other problems, and was just released last Friday. To see her, and to help Jim prepare the house for her now wheel-chair bound return, were our main reasons for going to Austin. She was doing better each day, seemed to be getting stronger, but today they had to take her back to the ER. She was to be readmitted, with pneumonia.

Please hold both Jim and Jo in prayer. He was just beginning to realize she would never be "back to normal" but that they would have to learn a new way of living when we left. When we first got there he kept talking about the changes we were making being "temporary" modifications. I know they both really love the Lord, but I don't know how well he'll cope when, no longer if, he loses her.

Carole, I'm sorry to hear about Jo. It's such a roller coaster ride sometimes, isn't it, and that's so taxing on a person's emotions.

Don, thankful that you didn't fall. I know you do a grand job, but I wish someone else would take over or the guests would at least contribute more to the meal so you wouldn't have so much work to do.

Becky, I'm glad your dad is okay after his fall. Sounds like it was painful.

Debby, good for you for speaking up. It sounds like you still do a lot when it comes to holidays and special occasions.

I had my mom over this afternoon to visit and play games, and it was nice.

Yes, Edy, that dream was a gift. It was nice to feel close to him again, even if it was only for a few seconds.

]We 3 had a nice, quiet dinner, also. The boys were with their mother so Tim, John and I had a lovely dinner here. Tim made a delicious pumpkin pie and with whipped cream on it, it was a big success. When Tim took the boys to be with their mother, he hugged and kissed them, then said to them, "I love you. Have a nice time." Charles (the younger of the boys) said, "Dad, how can we have a good time when you won't be there with us?" Charles likes to have his dad lie down with him as he tries to go to sleep every night and it's the sweetest thing to see, trying to hug both boys and hearing them sing together. They love to sleep up here on the couches several times a week.

Laurie, thanks for looking into the FW link on Facebook. I'll check with Deb or someone.

My doctor made an appointment for me with a gastroenterologist (sp?) next Thursday to see why I'm anemic and keep losing weight. I'm down to 103 lbs now and he wants to be sure there's no internal bleeding somewhere. I tried to find a list on Google of foods that would help anemia but it's mostly about liver. If any of you have been down this road, I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Mariane, I'm concerned about that weight loss, anemia and possible internal bleeding. I'm glad you'll be checked out by a specialist. I found this listing of iron rich foods. http://www.healthcastle.com/iron.shtml I wonder, though, if you check out fine with the specialist, if they'll put you on iron supplements.

Jo's blood sugar is dangerously low (50), her hemoglobin is also way too low and they don't know why, they have already given her two pints of blood. They are running tests looking for internal bleeding.

My grandmother was moved to another room, it's a bigger one. Blood tests show that her white blood count is high which means she could have an infection. They're running more tests and doing a chest x-ray.

We're skipping church tomorrow to go visit her in the hospital again.
