Thank you all for sharing in my grief. I'm still at the stage where I feel him jumping upon the bed, settling in, see him out of the corner of my eye, feel him next to me on the couch,,,it will just take time. But I choose to believe that the good God has created will be in heaven and for me that includes the loyal companions He was so gracious to give us...loving gifts from His hand to our hearts.

And, as I have just been reading the older posts, let's not get down and out about this election thing. Sure, it's discouraging, but we aren't in the USSR or Communist China or Muslim Middle East or even in the financial environment of Europe, and if it gets that bad, look at it this way -- people have survived before us.
People keep talking about how terrible this is. Let me tell you, it could get a lot worse. Even if it does, God is in control.
We soft Americans have to stand up to a little rough treatment. Every time you're tempted to think how bad this is, think about people in South Sudan right now or Greece or the thousands of people around the world who live not only without what they want, but with much less than they need.
A brief study of history will show that we are in easy, easy times. We do need to worry about the fact that we've killed four times as many people in 36 years as Hitler did in 12. But in light of that, we deserve everything we get.
And no making excuses! In a democracy, which is what America is for the time being, everyone is to blame.

I have had two job offers for part-time jobs this week. One will be 3 hours every school day until the end of the year. Basically, it will replace the amount of rent that I am currently getting from renting out my basement. My renter is moving to Tennessee. The other job will be seasonal -- overnight stocking of shelves at Toys R Us until the end of December. This will be Christmas money. Both jobs start next week. My counselor said I was only allowed to do all three jobs if I got enough sleep and scheduled "Joanney time" that included "meaningful adult interaction." He didn't seem to think that doing Children's Ministry qualified as a rejuvenating experience.

In the meantime, I have a lot of homework to get caught up on (test time in both classes) and working extra hours at the before and after school program because of early release today and no school tomorrow. I will work an extra shift today from 12:45 to about 3:00 and then tomorrow instead of 6:15-8:30 I will work 6:15-2:00. Will be nice come payday.

I might have another renter lined up for the basement apartment as well.

Various translations record Matt. 6:13 in different ways. You must are probably using the NIV. The ones I use most often are KJV, NKJV, and NASB.

When I first started reading, I thought you were just doing the Lord's prayer which we say in Church but not the actual verses from the Bible (make sense?) I remember as a kid we would say forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and was wondering if anyone would say it that way. I've always wondered why it was different, but as i kept reading, I realized it was different most likely because of the different translators. I also always wondered why Catholics didn't say the last line too--probably for the same reason.

I am in awe at how you all can remember different verses. Ever since the brain infection, I have a terrible time remembering things from names to verses to what I ate this morning.

I wonder why a church would choose not to recite the Lord's prayer exactly as written in the inspired Word of God using a credible (not modern day) version of scripture?

In my opinion the trespasses/trespass vs debts/debtors wording is a minor issue.

I've always wondered why it was different, but as i kept reading, I realized it was different most likely because of the different translators.

The problem I have with many of the modern day versions is that, although they might me easier to read, they often water-down and lose the intended message. I prefer to call them versions, not trasnslations. Also, some of them omit portions of verses, and in many cases the entire verse has been removed. The NIV is one example with well over a dozen verses omitted. I have a list of the omitted verses if anyone should want them.

Their problem runs much deeper than that. Perhaps an ex-Catholic should support me on this for I could be wrong. However, it is my understanding that they believe their church is the only kingdom of God...both now and after Christ's return. They reject any notion that He would rule and reign over them, therefore, they omit the last line of the Lord's prayer. They always portray Jesus as either an infant, a young boy sitting on His earthly mother's lap, or perpetually hanging on a cross. He is never pictured as the risen Lord who will return one day in great power and glory to judge all men and rule and reign forever in His eternal kingdom.
