Thanks for posting that link, Mariane. I put it into my favorites file for future reference. Believe me, we have enough prescriptions for different meds around here to choke a horse, and I would like to know how they interact.

Here's another question concerning meds:

With each new prescription a patient information sheet is given telling about that med including its possible side effects. If 10 different prescribed meds are taken for a certain condition, and if at least 6 of them list XYZ as a possible side effect, then, wouldn't the odds of the XYZ side effect actually occurring also increase...perhaps by a factor of 6 or more?

By the way, the doctor is insistent that all the meds are necessary...and denies that the cause of the disturbing side effect could be from the meds. In my opinion, they would rather run all kinds of expensive tests to search for another cause...and prescribe another med to fix the problem.

Doctors are trained to intimidate, prescribe, cut, and bill out the job.

Why can't the 1 1/2 hour long presidential debates begin an hour earlier in the evening? The 9:00pm start time in the eastern time zone, then, lasting until 10:30 is ridiculous. That is waayyy past bedtime for many. But then, maybe most of them stay up half of the night anyway.

And, the west coasters...well, they can just tune in an hour earlier if they want to listen.

As for me in the central time zone, the 9:30 ending time is pushing it. I'll listen if I can stay awake for the whole thing.

Don, I'm sure they took into account that at 5 pm on the West Coast, people would be going home from work and couldn't listen. This is the only thing the Debate Commission could do, to be fair, but I think you already knew that, you tease.

On Facebook we have a place we can go for Romney/Ryan Voters. The posts have been very interesting. We started out a week or week and a half ago and already we have 50 members! Some of these people are so interesting and well-informed! We're all looking forward to the debate tonight so we can post our reaction to it. I have every confidence that Romney will handle Obama well, assuming Obama tries to be an attack dog tonight. I hope I can stay awake. I've had such a busy day.

I hope everyone is well. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I vote by mail, so I've already voted. Hint: I did not vote for Romney, despite being a Republican. I wish McCain hadn't dropped out.

I made a lemon pie this morning that is fantastic...and it is soooo easy to do. Try it and you will agree.

(2) 14 oz cans sweetened condensed milk.

(1) 6 oz or larger can frozen lemonade concentrate. Note: Use frozen limeade concentrate if Key Lime pie is desired.

(1) 9" Graham cracker pie shell.

Combine condensed milk and thawed lemonade with wire whip in mixing bowl. Pour into pie shell and chill until firm. Top with Cool Whip.

Use small dessert bowls for any excess pie filling.

This is the dessert for our 49th anniversary dinner tomorrow. The main course will be steak and lobster, plus mashed potatoes and a veg. Yummm!

I wrote this early today. Thought I would share it.

49er’s R us

Today, October 19, 2012, Carol and I are celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. Well, at our age the word “celebrate” might be an overstatement. “Thankful” would be a more accurate word describing our feelings on this day. But, yes…we will celebrate, too.

Decades ago we could not imagine any married couple spending 49 years together. After all, anniversary years nudging the half century mark were just for old people. However, the years have passed all too quickly. And now…guess what? We are there, and we are old, too.

This morning as I was looking back at many of those years, I came to the realization that Carol married two men on our wedding day. Oh, they both had the same name…they looked exactly alike…and their voices were the same. They both drove the same car, and both had the same job. In every way they appeared to be identical twins, but in one body. Forty nine years ago neither Carol nor I were aware that two men existed.

During the first decade or two the man at the forefront loved his new bride, but was self-centered, unappreciative, and uncaring. Although the first man was a Bible believing Christian, he had even shoved God aside to focus on worldly success.

Then, years later, the second guy showed up and everything changed. He had a different personality…different values…a caring compassion…a different attitude…and a different appreciation for the things that really matter in life. The only way that could have happened was for God to intervene in a huge way.

“He Touched Me”, and led me along the pathway according to His will for my life. For that I will be forever thankful. I know that Carol is thanking Him, too. By the grace of God, He has allowed us to have 49 blessed years together…and we look forward to many more.

Yes…49er’s R us, but the best is yet to be.

Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes. We had a very quiet and good day.

The "surf & turf" dinner I prepared was terrific!

Now it's time for a nap before bedtime.

I'm back, Don! That's a clever way to write an echoing message. 8)

We've had so much on our calendar, lately, it takes our attention and uses up too much time. Hopefully, we've finished with most of our appointments - at least next week looks free - for now!

Other than that, I haven't much to tell!

Should we start a game, to rouse the sleepy porch pals?

There's the word game, where you change one letter to make a new word and so it goes passed around to all the players: Example: "shut" ---> "shot"

Next word, anybody?
