Hey guys - I know I am not on the Pacific Coast, but can I ask a HUGE favour? I belong to a group on Facebook called Noahs Arks Rescue. I have chipped in over the last 18 months to help with animal rescue, and this woman does an incredible amount of good. Her organization has a chance at winning $50,000.

*whispers* Hey Laura... check your private messages here on the board. I'd send you a private message, but I"m not sure that would help much...*stops whispering*

Okay. I'm done. Nothing to see here. Move along. :D Just thought I'd catch Laura on a board I know she frequents...

Actually, she carried twins more than once so more than eleven.

Speaking of, I had a great labor patient Sunday night and got to admit her and deliver her and we just barely squeaked by without another C-section. It was a busy night but very fulfilling. I sure was tired at the end of the night though! Just as I was leaving, the Joint Commission (they do the hospital safety reviews) was coming in. Hopefully they'll be long gone by the time I go back to work tonight. Everyone freaks out about JC but they're just there to make sure things are safe. No big deal in my opinion. If you're doing things right you have nothing to worry about.

I feel super lazy tonight - just watched a movie on Netflix (after Ryan went to bed, and it was a tearjerker he would not even stand for so that was probably a good idea - I went through probably ten Kleenex) and chilled. It was hot over the weekend but has cooled down quite a bit; I'm hoping I'll sleep well today because I have two and possibly three shifts coming up. I asked for an extra on Thursday to make up for the shift I lost on Friday due to the charge nurse not understanding who was on call in what order. She told me she would have called me in way before if she had known it was me who was supposed to be called first. :? I don't like having to work extra but I'd rather not have to use my vacation time to make up for lost hours.

Been a little quiet on the boards; everyone must be busy.

Night night.

That doesn't make sense then, So she wasn't a gestational carrier of six she was a gestational carrier six times. So then how many babies did she carry and give birth to?

Ooo, this is my 13300th post. Wow. That's a lot of posts. I must watch for my palindromic 13331th post!

I think Tiara's right... My understanding of the way Cori's signature is worded means she's had 11 babies rather than that she's been pregnant 11 times. I think she's been pregnant like 9 times... Awesome either way you look at it!

And Laura, please feel free to ask question about anything without worrying about feeling silly. We all lose track of things or mix up each other's stories or whatever, and everyone has been here for different amounts of time. Sorry you're still having extra pain. :( I'm going to be passing through Tacoma on Thursday and wish I had time to see you, but already visiting one friend and we're making a day trip of it, so won't have much time or energy. Maybe next time.

Kara, I can't decide whether to tell you or not, but there's actually a TV show about Sleeping Beauty... well, not just her but all the Disney stories in sort of real life and with twists. Actually might be helpful for your research and creative ideas. It's called Once Upon a Time on ABC channel. The 2nd season is starting this week. A movie just came out this year that was Snow White, I think. And the Grimm TV show sort of draws from all Grimm's fairytales. But I think your book will still be unique and might be just the right timing since that kind of thing is apparently in style right now. I think it sounds fun! I want to read it.

Pup, all your talk about me is confusing. Is that time warp thing in my bedroom why I wake up feeling so exhausted? Maybe I'm running around in the past and future when I think I'm sleeping.

It's continued to be rather stressful for me. I mentioned something with my disability lawyer. I'm very displeased with her but yesterday found out that if I switch to a different one then I'd owe her all her legal fees and I can't afford that. If I stick with her then she only gets paid if I win and then gets a percentage of my back payment. So I'm stuck moving forward with someone I don't trust, and yet being forced to trust her with my financial state for the rest of my life, basically. Good thing I have a God to trust above her.

But at least the stress of scrambling to find another lawyer is gone, so today I just rested an ended up sleeping almost all day. Hope I can still sleep tonight.

This week will be busy, too. On Thursday Mom and I are driving three hours up almost to Seattle for me to get an MRI of my neck. They want to see how unstable my neck is while holding the weight of my skull, so I have to have an MRI while in a sitting position, and the nearest machine that can do that is in Renton, WA. It's really expensive so we don't want the additional costs of a hotel, so will be going up, getting the imaging, meeting a friend in Tacoma, and then coming back down all in one day. Then the next day I have a meeting at work so can't sleep all that day.

Please pray the trip will go well and safely and that it doesn't flare me too badly. I start work again the next week. I don't know what to ask for prayer for about the MRI. It would help my disability case a lot if it does show some serious problems (and I really need the help to cover medical insurance), and it would make me feel better about spending that much money on it (my current insurance won't cover the special machine). But if something serious is wrong then it could mean spinal surgery, which is scary for a lot of reasons. But then it could resolve a lot of my symptoms, too.

So I don't know whether to pray something is wrong or that nothing is wrong. I guess just pray that the test shows accurately and clearly whatever is going on. My insurance says those special machines aren't strong enough of a strength to have good images, but the laying down one won't show what the specialist is looking for.

Not you silly bird, another Amy. Though it could be a lot of fun to have you along on one of those adventures in space time traveling. You are zany enough to fit right in.

I will just pray it finds something helpful one way or the other.

Hey all sorry I've been quiet. Amy is right we went dress shopping and out to lunch on my birthday and it really wiped me out. Thank you so much for all of the kind wishes. Also thanks for the congrats for my EC. This story is one I really wanted to do well because I worked hard on it and even though the MC is named Gracie as she is actually my Wrigley character and this is the first time my Wrigley character will be published (even better that I used her middle name of Gracie because then if my dream of publishing my Wrigley stories ever comes true than people won't know Gracie is Wrigley) Plus the way the story came about is quite funny. I have a tendency to sleep walk and sleep text and sleep cook and just about anything. One night when I was getting ready for bed the moon was especially pretty. I love walking at night and look at the the stars. But one night even though there weren't clouds the moon was gone and I was quite upset about the moon thief and wanted to call 911. Instead I texted Amy who convinced me not to call Homeland Security and be on the lookout for a moon thief (okay homeland security might be an exaggeration) Of course I didn't remember it until later when Amy told me to check out my messages that I sent. And there it was in black and white. I've been told that my sleep texts have been a source of entertainment for the Wiley family and then decided somehow I was going to turn that silliness into a story. So I am super happy that it did well.

Seema, I'm glad you entered this week. I haven't read too many stories but I promise I will get to it! Amy you can't enter this week because there isn't a topic.
Laura don't ever feel like you shouldn't pop in here because you may not be able to follow all of the posts. Even those who read everyday can't always follow us. If we sound too goofy just ask. But most likely the goofy version is probably true.

Pup harbors aliens in his basement. I'm a secret alien myself, Kara got hooked on Dr Who and now they have conversations that many can't follow.

A lot of people are gearing up for the National Novel Writing Month (NaNO) which is people all over the world who try to write 50,000 words or more of a novel in the month of Nov.

Tiara pops in and out to keep Pup in line and has also participated in the NaNo. Becky is another one who attempts to keep Pup in line. Speaking of Becky she hasn't been on lately and she's one of the oddballs who don't live near the Pacific.

Holly is the one who started the Rest Stop and she has been busy with life so we haven't seen her much lately. And to make it all crazier many of them have like 100 nicknames just to make it even wackier.

There are a few of us who have chronic illnesses. Jay sometimes struggles with his health and likes to write music as well as working on a YA novel. Amy and I both have health problems and Becky suffers pain from a car accident.

Kara is from somewhere in the states originally but she and her husband live in Thailand. Barb is the first person who really made me feel welcome here and in fact even though now she lives 3,000 miles away, she was born about 30 miles away from me. Oh yeah I'm one of several oddballs who really don't live anywhere near the Pacific, along with Becky, Kate, Kara and Leonie though she hasn't been on in ages either.

Shelley and Seema are two of the sweetest people but often just stay in the background and pop in from time to time. Leah is an RN who works in OB (I used to work in OB too before I got too sick.)

I'm sure I'm forgetting some but that's a quick breakdown. Actually if you go back to the very beginning pages you'll find that a lot of the original members aren't around as often. We miss them but also understand how busy life can be and we love it when new people come in. Basically because it's fun to pick on them a bit! (I did not just say that!)

Okay that's enough for now but know I love you all and you help make my little world a much happier place.

I finally had a couple restful days. Yesterday I got up at about 1 pm and did a few things and then laid down again around 3 and slept for three more hours. Today I only slept about 9 hours and then my sister and her girls came by for a bit, and then I went to my myotherapist. He's been an expert witness for disability cases and was able to give me some advice for my hearing, since my lawyer bombed out in that area. So that makes me feel better. He is sure something helpful will show up on the MRI, too, since my neck is "all sorts of messed up."

I better get to bed. Have to get up early to head to Seattle and it'll be a very long and probably painful day. Our car isn't as comfortable as that rental we made the road trip on the east coast in. Very thankful it was so comfy and made those weeks go well. Bringing lots of pillows, so that should help.

Also take an Advil before you leave. Might help calm things a bit more for the trip.

AND I do NOT have aliens in my basement, I don't have a basement... but they do hang out in the crawl space under the floorboards. I have heard them moving around down there.

Congratulations Seema on your EC! Here's a special Happy Dance just for you--Happy Dance!! (and that wasn't easy to do with my sore back but you're worth it!)

Congratulations Laura on your HC! Happy Dance!! (You're worth the ache in the back too!) :D And if anyone is interested in reading this great story here is the link!

I'm glad this quarter has come to an end. I'm blaming the food topics on why I gained back some of the weight I lost! :x

I'm also excited because if the anthology does get published, the Rest Stop will be well represented. I know Amy, Barb, Seema, Leah and I all had at least one EC so I think it's super awesome that so many of us will be represented. One of these days I'm going to succeed in my quest to get everyone to enter and then get everyone to comment on all of ours and now I'm adding that one quarter all of us will be in the anthology together. So rest yourselves my pretties and know in a couple of weeks I'm going to be hounding everyone to enter! Tiara insert my evil laugh for me. No one does it quite like you!

Congrats, Laura :!:

Thank you, Barbie and Shann. The idea for this piece came to me as I was researching Missouri and the Civil War era. During the war, the president ordered the full evacuation of 6 counties on the Kansas/Missouri border. From reading some of the reports and eyewitness accounts of this atrocity, the story formed as I imagined what it would have been like to be part of that mass exodus.

Congrats, ladies! I'm looking forward to that anthology too!

Whew, the MRI trip took exactly 11 hours and 1 minute from the time we left the driveway to coming back to it. :P I'm glad I didn't know ahead of time how horrible the MRI would be. It took two hours and I had to sit perfectly still in uncomfortable positions without even breathing deeply. I was in such horrible pain by the end that I wasn't sure I was going to make it and was seriously considering squeezing the emergency button. Still pretty sore now. I sure hope after all that pain and money that it is helpful!

But as horrible as the pain was the trip wasn't all bad. It was cloudy so not too bright or hot, and not pouring rain, so perfect for the long drive. Mom and I had fun singing along to CDs and then had a yummy Thai lunch, and on the way back home stopped to visit one of my interpreting friends who moved up to that area.

I have a one-hour meeting at work smack in the middle of the day at the campus 45 minutes away, so can't sleep all day tomorrow, but at least don't have to get up early. Will swing by and visit a Deaf friend on the way home and then can nap if needed.
