Hi Kenn, I apologize. I was not ignoring you. For some reason I was not getting a message when you posted. Hopefully I will this time.
I don't mind if the buyer clicks on the link says Smashwords on it to get the book in the format they need. We get nothing from the books sold directly on our site. We actually benefit if they need to go to Smashwords for a kindle format or?
When they sign up a book they could tell us right then that they have it on Smashwords, There would be a box like we have discussed where they insert their Smashwords book URL. The FaithWriters affiliate code would attach to it at that point automatically. Then on their book page a link would appear.
Do you need this book in another format? Go HERE
It really is a win win for everyone. The authors get a lot more exposure. The book store has much more appeal so we promote it even more.
With regards to the prepping books for Smashwords. You could try and just put instructions out there but I think you might be in for a landslide of questions and people just not being able to figure it out. I suggest offering a reasonable price to do it. It does take some time and it is very much worth it for an authors exposure. $50 to $100 depending on the size of the book. You can go to Smashwords and find out what their contacts charge for this service and then discount it. Or charge the same. You could offer the price based on an author's financial ability. Or better yet you could set up instructions, Smashwords actually has a free book on how to do this that you could pass on. Then if they had problems or just wanted it done you could step in. I also have another member who has indicated she can prep these too. She needs the work and wants to be involved.
Her name is Laurie Glass. I am sure she will jump into this conversation now.
If you got good at this you could contact Smashwords and offer your contract services.
As far as only 500 members having books here. Anyone can subscribe and put up to 5 books a month on there for I think $5.95. We do need to generate some income so we would use it as a way to get people to sign up for Platinum. The marketing we will do would be well worth it for them.
With regards to your son-in-law's thoughts. If he knows how to implement the changes he has mentioned. Including the box we talked about for the links to Smashword. We would be willing to hire him to do it. If he I good I would have some other things for him too.
Contact me directly about that at
writer-support@faithwriters.comGod Bless and thanks for stirring things up here and a few other places I noticed you. We need the stirring. Working as a team, body of Christ, is the best way to get things done.
