Tell us how you share the gospel

Postby mikeedwards » Thu May 17, 2012 9:26 am

Encourage other to share Jesus by telling us here how you share your faith and your experiences. Gives us your tips on how to share your faith. Here is one example of what I mean. I talk to people on a regular basis. A person wearing a cross or with a cross is a perfect opening for me to talk to them. The cross for many people is just a piece of jewlery. I simply go up to them and say " Can I ask you a question, what does that cross mean to you?" I often get the answer "I don't know." So it opens up a conversation and gives me a chance to present the gospel. What do you do? Please let us know in this forum.

Also note the links on this site for Share Jesus without Fear, Living Waters and Way of the Master and Pocket Testament League on the left side of this page. http://www.faithwriters.com/myaccount/myaccount-main.php
All offer tools to share your faith.

Here is one of my recent encounters.

On the way home yesterday I spoke with and gave out 9 copies of Gravity to nine Michigan State Troopers who had a commercial truck inspection road stop set up. They were all very open to taking a copy. How cool. One had been a youth pastor and I talked with him the most. I think it struck a cord in him and really made him think. He told me how he cannot say anything unless asked and how that frustrates him. If you approach a police officer with Gravity. Mention the evidence inside and Jim Wallace the cold case homicide detective. They deal with evidence all of the time. I have handed out several to police officers this way.

Gravity is a book I wrote for evangelisim. http://www.god-evidence-truth.com

Re: 32 THIRTY TWO!!!!

Postby CatLin » Fri May 18, 2012 11:42 pm

I saw that on the FW main page yesterday, and OH how I rejoiced!!!!

In my "job" as a church secretary, I meet lots of people with lots of needs. I was able to comfort and encourage a believer a couple days ago, who had had a run in with her supervisor. She was accosted, and accused of having "demons". I assured her that we believe in the power of name of Jesus Christ, and that at His name, demons must flee. And I shared wisdom from God about what His word says about discerning spirits, and what that means. And then I gave her some food (she's afraid to go back to work) I prayed with her. It was uplifting and AWESOME.

I share the gospel mostly through my writings. I try to reach as many people as I can by writing simple articles for people who, like me, need a simple understanding of Jesus Christ. I am an infant in my Chrisitanity, only three years old. I became born again when I almost lost my life, and Jesus saved me.

Unfortunately, most of the people around me don't want to hear about Jesus, with the exception of my son. He thinks it's wonderful that I have found Christ. He was raised in a Christian School, one of the things he did have growing up was an understanding of God I never really knew until recently.

So, at this point, I write. As I have said before, if I help one person with anything I write, l will feel I have saved a life, as Jesus saved mine. Hopefully I will reach more.

I also feel the best way to share the gospel in person is to live the best life I know how, treat others with love and forgiveness and keep trying to do the next right thing. Sharing by example is the best way I know how right now.

If others see the light of Jesus in my eyes, they just might want it too. Words often fall by the wayside, but actions speack much more loudly than words.

I also am an advocate for the homeless and abused children. Some of my writings reflect this in order to reach those who might feel the need to help in some way.

I love my country, as well. I pray it will return to the God loving country it was a few decades ago, when I was growing up and Jesus was apart of most every one I knew.

God Bless, Lynn :thankssign

I love to always have copies of Printed Preachers(tracts) with me. At any given opportunity,I give them to people I meet with the words 'This is a letter of joy for you.' Many muslims who were ready to 'fight' christians have taken such from me and read. 'Anyone who refuses a letter of joy will receive that of sadness.',a muslim told his friend who wanted to refuse a tract one day.

My church goes soul winning every Wednesday evening and Saturday mornings. A lot of people have accepted the Lord by this means. I always leave tracts in restrooms and restaurants I frequent. I send those same tracts to the places that send return postage paid envelopes with their pitch for whatever they are selling.

I also have a personal ministry and that is my husband who is a non-believer. We were both non-believers when we married, but ten years into our marriage, I accepted Jesus as my Saviour and it has been an uphill battle for me from that point on. I endeavor to be the quiet and gentle spirit my husband needs, but am not always successful. But I am cognizant of his need to be saved. We live in two separate worlds...He lives in the world; I live in the spiritual world. I'm sure I'm not telling you other ladies who have unsaved spouses anything. God is good, though, because He has helped us through many trials in the 42 years we have been married.

I used to be very bold with my witnessing. My favourite place to witness was at the bus stop and then on the trip to wherever we were heading. It was amazing just listening to the people; their story, their troubles, which they were often very open about. I think many people are just waiting for someone to listen to them. Once finished, I would ask if they minded if I prayed for them.

I guess I'm not really that much different, come to think of it. At my kids' school I have met people with their own stories, too, and have offered to pray for quite a few mums and dads there. I always drop into conversation church or God, or that I have prayed about something; then I ask God to water the seeds! I figure I've got another 10+ years ahead of me with these parents and their beautiful kids :D

Blessings,

Helen

Thanks for the post ladies. We are praying for you and your spouse Laurel. I love the tracts in the return envelopes. Bea has done that too. She also talks to phone solicitors about Christ. Sometimes it is like she has an international ministry because many of these callers are outside of the US.

Right now I have 10 locations set up to give away my book for free. One of them is a grocery store where an average of 30 books get picked up every day. I am so thankful that God uses me to share the gospel. I have dropped or handed out thousands of million dollar bill tracts. I used to think tracts were kind of silly but today I have heard many stories from people who have come to Christ because of a tract. We are like farmers, planting seeds and having faith that they will grow. Isaiah

Speaking of tracts, Mike, one of our men left a tract on the back of the commode in a restaurant and the next Sunday, a gentleman who had found it attended our church. Another story about how people come to know Jesus...we often have to keep a window open in the sanctuary during services because it is too warm. One Sunday morning, the window was open, our pastor at the time noticed someone yelling into the church from the street and he invited him in. He ended up being saved! Praise the Lord! And thank you for your prayers, Mike. I appreciate all prayers when it comes to my husband's salvation. blessings to you, Laura

Some of you know I have a book out that evangelizes the lost and helps the believer. I get some great emails because of the book. Here is one we just got from a 20 year old believer who posted a review on Amazon and sent an email. She also ordered some print copies of the book to give out.

"I have friends who are incredibly intelligent, and constantly question my beliefs and ask me to back it up. I can't explain what it feels like to come up with no answer to their scientific questions that end up making me look pretty rediculous. I always wanted to dig deeper into the facts, but never knew where to start, or who to believe.
As I scrolled through the titles to download, this one caught my eye and made me giggle. Who wouldn't be intrigued by a name like this? It shows the facts without bias, explains where they came from, and lets you decide yourself what you believe and why. If you're questioning your faith, trying to defend it, or wondering why these crazy people seem to believe there is a God, read this book.

The last time I loved and appreciated a book this much, was when I was in middle school and reading the Nancy Drew Mysteries. Download it now, it's free and easy to read, what have you got to lose?"

As a member of FaithWriters you can order copies of Gravity to hand out for just the cost of shipping and my fulfillment fees. A box of 80 would be $15.00 delivered to you by media mail. Read it here for free http://www.amazon.com/Gravity-True-For-You-ebook/dp/B006XG0ID4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I share the gospel several ways. One way I do this is if I see a person who I have talked with before and know something about them, and if I see they look down, I try to converse with them and find out what is bothering them. Often, they will say, "Oh, I'm not feeling well or I feel lonely." When I hear that, I will say something like, "Yes, I understand what you're saying. I sometimes feel that way, too." Or I might say, "That sounds very difficult and hard to deal with. It is important to get some rest and take time for youself. Our Lord wants us to be healthy and well." And then, I might also say, "The good Lord knows that we're hurting and He is faithful to help us with our needs." Usually, they will agree and they often give a look that says, "I talked with someone who cares." It is wonderful feeling to see that look.

Also, if I see someone hurting and I can help them, I will. Maybe carry something that is cumbersome or take over a pie or just talk with them awhile. I often recall what Jesus did when he saw a need, He often met them where the "need" was at and did what he could to help and heal them.

It seems the best way to share the gospel is what we're all saying on this post, to be and act like Christ.

Often when I see someone with a tattoo cross or cross jewelry I see it as an open door to start a conversation. I simply go up to them and ask them what it means to them? For most people it is just a piece of jewelry or symbol. It is a great way to start a conversation and share Jesus.

I do some cold call witnessing but I believe that I must first "offer a cup of water, in Jesus name." I have been " on the streets" and in the places where the struggles of people are more evident for the past 20 years. I know that I must build a level of trust so that I when the gospel is offered it will bring about a spiritual birth and not an abortion or stillborn.

I just try to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit but sometimes-I want everyone to be saved-I jump ahead of Him and I always regret it. But God knows my heart and He is the redeemer of even my weakest effort.

Praise God I can carry the precious message in myself-a cracked pot-with confidence that He-the Father-is able to do above and beyond.

It is a priviledge to be entrusted with the precious gospel. "Lord, help me to be found faithful" is my constant prayer.

What a beautiful topic! I loved reading everyones response. I loved the "what does that cross mean to you?" That is fantastic! I have to try that...Thanks!

As for myself. I have my devotional website and my books, which are all Chrisitan sharing the Word in all aspects of my books. I also write articles for magazines online.

We also take with us and hand out "The Daily Word" which we place at work, hand them out. People are open to them. Also the Gospel of John, we have given them to many.

I also speak with "shut-ins" and the eldery - which is my passion. I fellowship with a "shut-in" who lives in the wilderness. I call her everyday and we speak about the Bible, His word...and what the resurrection and walking in the Spirit means. Or whatever else is on her mind...or where the Lord leads our conversation. We pray together and ever sing together.

My passion as I've said is for the elderly, shut-ins, and the lost.

God Bless,

Camille~

I love you Lord...Blessed is your name~

:typing2 I've discovered what I consider a rather unique way to share the gospel via the Internet.

As a writer, words are the tools of my trade. Very often, I use them to respond to articles in the HuffPost - Google's on-line newspaper. Whenever I write a response that is biblically based, the
secularists, atheists, and agnostics come out in en masse with their attacks. Very often I receive upwards of ten e-mails to which I respond with scripture, if necessary, but always with an "arrow" that points to the gospel message. Sometimes, I must curb my natural instinct to respond in kind to some very ascerbic, sarcastic, and demeaning replies.

I have NO idea if there's an impact, but that's up to the Lord. I pray He uses the tools in my hand to touch at least one person.

I write even when I think I can't because I must. :-)

I love to write. Nothing escapes the crush I have on the written word. I'm hooked on words!!

I love this topic, and I love that FaithWriters is dedicated to sharing the biblical Gospel with the world! I love being around like-minded believers who realize that Jesus was serious when He gave the Great Commission. I fall short in so many ways of what I ought to be for Him, but just knowing that He asks me to be a part of the awesome work of saving souls...that's amazing!

I share the Gospel in my writing, on my blog (http://helponhigh.blogspot.com), and in person (with tracts and various). I also like to write emails to people and letters. I hope to write a fictional book or play someday with the Gospel in it. I don't know of anyone who's been converted through my efforts, and this saddens me, even though I know that results are up to the Lord, I want to see people saved!

Joyfully in Christ's service,
Sadie
