BeachGrandma, I wouldn't worry about the ants, except feel sorry for them! My mom told me about her two brothers. Ants got into their mother's sponge cake, too many to just brush off. They solved the problem (boys always being hungry) by turning off the light so they wouldn't have to see what they were eating. Just wash the little critters down with some milk. Your stomach acid will take care of the rest. Honest!

p.s. I've heard that people actually eat chocolate-covered ants....how did your ants taste? :sorry

I don't know how John feels because he's in the dog house where he'll likely remain for many years.
I'm always after him to scrub out the thermos every morning because I suspected he just gave it a quick rinse. This is something a wife would normally do herself but our faucet is situated far enough back in the sink that I can no longer reach it. I know, I know. Don't ask. :zipped :orangeyes (grin)

I actually tried chocolate covered ants...once.

Roasted grasshoppers are edible too. Yep, I also tried them...once. They are crunchy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Yumm!

I was about 10 years old at the time, and didn't know any better.

Note: I have a true story about eating strange stuff that I will share here as soon as I can find it.

I've heard of chocolate covered ants and grew up believing that my grandma liked them, but later learned that was my grandpa's name for chocolate covered raisins. To the day they died, my aunt and uncle would not eat raisins, but the grandkids all liked them all the more.

I have eaten chocolate covered crickets. As a Cub Scout leader, I felt it my obligation to do so on "Fright Night" sleepover at the Science Museum (on a Friday the 13th). They taste like a Nestle Crunch bar. Museum employees told us that crickets are safe to eat and you can bake them in brownies also. As an owner of a pet that eats crickets, I would not recommend eating them from the yard as they are more likely to have parasites. But purchasing them at the pet store (especially if they specialize in lizards) and serving them to a group of boys would be safe. :thumbs

Okay, here's that true "eating strange stuff" story...

Don

Many years ago I knew a guy (one of my employees) who, while at a party, swallowed a live turtle on a dare. When enough money had finally piled up on the table, the turtle went down the hatch. For a couple of hours he could feel the poor thing trying to climb around the inside of his stomach. After he consumed a couple of stiff drinks, the turtle settled down and no intervention was necessary.

God have mercy on us! I just now learned of the devastation in the movie theater last night in Colorado. Please be praying for the victims, the families, the community and that our nation will see the need to return to God as our base.

Dearest Porch friends . . . the end is near . . . not that end . . . I only wish . . . but this moving end. We are just finishing up moving boxes and stuff. Tomorrow will be more of the same . . . hubby has fallen twice . . . my back. legs, neck, shoulders, ankles, knees, fingers and any other moving part are in so much pain . . . Please pray for strength and endurance as tomorrow is the "big move" but our bodies are not cooperating. Thank you, next time you hear from me it will be over with . . . well, almost . . . there is still all of the unpacking!

Love and hugs . . . only if I can move . . . so many just a lot of love!

Praying for added strength to be poured into your precious body and your dh's too. It's hard to have to do so much when pain is so present. God be with you.

Here's an interesting article:

Chick-fil-A President Says 'God's Judgment' Coming Because of Same-Sex Marriage

By Myles Collier , Christian Post Contributor
July 18, 2012|2:49 pm

The president of one of the largest fast-food chains in America explained that he takes pride in being able to live out his Christian faith through his restaurants, but that we as a nation are challenging God's principals when it comes to the same sex-marriage debate.

Dan Cathy, the president and chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, was invited to appear on the "The Ken Coleman Show," during which he revealed that those advocating for same-sex marriage will in turn bring "God's judgment" upon us.

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

Cathy explains that the company that his father created and the one that he now runs is possible because of family and the support that families offer.

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that … We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy said.

The conservative stance taken by Chick-fil-A has not come without controversy and has led to some organizations to forego endorsing the fast-food restaurant. Earlier this year Northeastern University officials decided not to allow a store on the college's Boston campus.

"We need to be more faithful to depend on a God who does love us and wants to have a relationship with us, and wants to give us the desires of our hearts … We intend to stay the course," Cathy said.

"We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles," Cathy explained.

Dear Debby, I am lifting you and your husband in prayer asking for strength and release from pain. Is it possible to get help from your church body? Many of the churches Marty and I have been a part of have volunteers for specifically this purpose, packing, moving and unpacking.

Part of our morning's worship singing included this number, which struck me as particularly moving: "As the deer" -

Our pastor's text was from Mark 6:31 "Come away...and rest awhile," a verse that always reminds me of my Dad.

Okay...you asked what I thought.

I support sheriff Joe in his efforts, but I'm afraid it would get dragged out for years. I don't believe a resolution will happen.

Obama is a formless shadow that came from nowhere with no verifiable history concerning his background and accomplishments. The man has gone to great expense to legally hide his true identity, as well as to seal all records that might provide clues as to who he is, and where he came from. He just seemed to have emerged suddenly, and then, quickly arose to power in the highest office of our land. It is as if Obama is wearing a mask to hide his real face from public view.

I believe that when he took office 3 1/2 years ago, he had no intention of ever leaving. With only a few months remaining in his first term and if a major war began before November, he could declare a national emergency and Martial Law allowing him to cancel or postpone the elections in the interest of national security. If no war happened, then, he could set events in place to start one.

With an obvious appetite for power and his demanding that everything be done his way, it is possible that by using his Executive Order power he could dissolve the Office of President, and set conditions in place to declare a national emergency that would require his on-going presence as Emperor of the USA. The populace could be held in check using Martial Law and the far-reaching arms of the Department of Homeland Security.

Obama is changing the role of President from one of leadership for the people, of the people, and by the people…to one of controlling dictatorship. He is effectively and systematically dismantling the U.S. Constitution…destroying many of our freedoms… weakening our position as a world power… and bankrupting our nation financially, militarily, spiritually, and morally.

However, many would continue to support him because there is something about him...his personality...his demeanor...his confidence...his ability to communicate...his ability to spew believable lies...his arrogance…his determination to force his agenda in the face of opposition...and his mesmerizing affect on people to generate huge followings with his rallying mantra of fundamentally transforming America using new programs of “hope and change.” He seemingly is revered by many as a Messiah-like figure.

Those who do not support him could be labeled as intolerant, radical, judgmental, dangerous, hate mongers, mentally unstable, and much more. They might need to be isolated and controlled for the common good. The purpose for thousands of small sized surveillance drones flying all over the USA…the armed rapid response forces soon to be spread throughout the country…and the numerous, already staffed and equipped FEMA Detention Camps are all becoming more obvious. It's not a stretch of the imagination to envision that those who oppose him could very well become “forced guests" of those FEMA camps, and could be victims of a next holocaust.

Enough for now...

Note: Some of the above are excerpts from my latest article titled, "Who Is That Masked Man?" It is not yet on FW.
