What a relief....Evansville has declared a ban on fireworks this week. We are under extreme drought, twelve inches below normal rainfall. I was hoping for this ban, it is just too dangerous.

Hi y'all. Forgive me for not dropping by sooner.

I'm so glad to hear about Howard. I sent Edy an Email saying I would be praying and I'm sure she'll post something on the porch soon. She has a huge, huge family of her own plus Howard's so that's a lot of people to notify by Email, Facebook, or by phone. Besides, she has a kazillion friends who love her and Howard so she's very busy. How wonderful that Howard has Edy for a private nurse.

Our boys are with their mother this weekend but before they left, little Charles hugged me and asked, "Grandma, when I'm not here, what do you think about?" I told him I thought about him and Jackson all the time, that I prayed for their safety, that they'd have a wonderful time with their mother and prayed the clock would run extra fast so they would be back with their daddy, Grandpa and me." He smiled all over and kissed me, so it must have been the right answer. I love those boys so much, it hurts (as the song goes). :-)

My hands are very swollen and painful with arthritis so I can only type a small amount at a time but be assured I love you all. I do keep up with the prayer requests, though. I've been wondering when we'd start meeting at the water cooler but I'm sure it will be a smooth transition, whenever it is. Let's be sure to warmly welcome everyone who drops in to say hello, give them a chocolate chip cookie and invite them to be part of our conversation.

Big time hugz-
Mariane

Our grandsons, Charles and Jackson are attending a 5-week (Mon-Fri) day camp at church where Tim is teaching 150 children (6-12) Lego animation as part of their program. Each week another 150 kids come. Tim is exhausted every night when he comes home from these "hands-on" classes. Jackson (11) finished his project today and the huge church they attend will use it for promotion for the rest of this session plus next year's promotion. Tim has always had state-of-the-art cameras, sound equipment and everything else so by the end of the summer will have completed 2 of the 12 Bible stories about Jesus (each about 7 minutes long). He'll either work through a production house like Thomas Nelson or maintain control like one of his friends has done. This friend produced 60,000 discs two years ago about Lazarus and sold them all for $10 each. (You do the math). Tim wants to wait until he has 10 or 12 ready for marketing, then sell them as a package (or individually) to churches for next summer's VBS programs or youth programs during the year. He will have accompanying studying guides to go with the disks. His fiance, Bridgett, is a graphic artist by profession and will design all the packaging. Tim is so good at this kind of thing and I'm so pleased he's working for the Lord at the same time. Here is the 59-second promotion video for Power Camp that Jackson and Tim finished today.

My cousin's son:

posted by his dad on Wednesday:
Joe had another brain bleed. The bleeds are caused by MRSA inflaming the blood vessels in his brain. They also discovered an inoperable aneurism. He has paralyses on his right side and the doctors say he may need therapy to speak if he pulls out of this. The doctors think that the origin of this infection is from the LVAD. If that is the case, there is nothing they can do to stop it. Joe’s only hope is antibiotics to fight the infection to reduce the inflammation to be operable. This may take up to six weeks if he does not form another in the meantime. He is in Gods hands now and Jean and I are at peace.

Followed by:
Joe is on a cool pack blanket to reduce his fever. They have it down from 103 to 99. His white blood cell level fighting the infection is down to 19 from 22. They want it ideally at an 11 to indicate the MRSA infection is gone. He was doing better today, but anything can happen while the infection is still present. Rt side is still paralyzed.

Posted last night:

"Hello. This is Joe - leave a message - peace out."
Peace out, Joe, Love Mom and Dad.

--------------------------

Please pray for Dick and Jean as they struggle with the loss of their son.

I have something crazy to ask. I am a very sensory person and I know there are others like me. I have a super soft, light weight throw and blanket that I use and find myself just "feeling" as I read or relax . It just occurred to me that perhaps something like this could be comforting for not only children in hospitals but adults as well, even in nursing homes. I wondered if anyone had any knowledge of this kind of need or use. I would like to be a part of it.

Mariane, that video is outstanding! What a gift Tim has and his sons too! And the camp sounds wonderful! I really wish it was near enough to send our grandchildren. They would be blown away by an opportunity like that!

They make a baby "lovey" small, about a foot square, that has several satin fabric labels or tags sticking out all around the edges, because that the part that babies always seem to want to touch.

Same thought as your comforting blanket.

Actually, I have several things that I find myself doing the same thing with. I've always been this way, but never thought about it, and never really mentioned it.

I just googled "baby lovey tag blankets"

those things are expensive! Ranged from $12 to $37.

How sad for your cousin, Carole. :(

Mariane, that was a cool video. Tim sounds so talented and creative.

Carol, I can definitely see a ministry there. Maybe a call to a pediatric unit somewhere to check into it would be appropriate. Here, volunteers make lap quilts for nursing home residents. And I bet some would welcome the type of fabric you have in mind.

Carole, i never thought to google about it. Look what I found! Apparently this has been going on for a long time.

ABOUT PROJECT LINUS

Project Linus is a non-profit organization, dedicated to "Providing Security Through Blankets," for ill or traumatized children and teens. Inspired by a picture of a three-year-old cancer patient holding her security blanket, Project Linus was begun in 1995 by Karen Loucks. Nationally, Project Linus has donated more than 4,165,405 handmade blankets to help comfort children in need in hospitals, shelters, and hospices. Project Linus has 368 chapters in the United States. Project Linus was named after the adorable security blanket toting character from the Peanuts comic strip.

By the way, Carole, how is Bill's job? Everything going okay? I can't for the life of me remember what he is doing, but remember praising God for the job. My grandson is still looking.

Carol, maybe Project Linus would be something to get invovled in if it's practical for you since your heart is in it.

Barb, how is your mom feeling? Has she consented to going in and seeing a different doc?
