Here's today's "Awwwwww!" moment. I know BeachGrandma, especially, will like this because it's about an abandoned dog and what became of her (just another example how whatever we suffer is preparing us for ministry!):

Don, it's sad when we get to be seniors and we see what's left of our family dying. Now my mom and dad and all their siblings are gone. I'm thankful for my three siblings, and I don't want to be the last one waiting here. You'll be in my prayers. It's good that your son will try to represent the family.

I know what you are saying, Verna. Aside from my 86 year old uncle (it was his wife that just died), I am the most senior living family member carrying the family name.

I just now thought to check my phone messages from when I was in the hospital. I have been waiting and waiting for a phone call from my urologist as instructed when I was dismissed. Here she had already called! Now she is out of town for two weeks. I can't see her until June 21!

Oh Carol, what will you do in between time? Does she have someone filling in for her? Have you passed anymore stones or are you still in pain because of them? My prayers are forever with you and I do pray the Lord will dissolve them for you.

I am in a holding pattern. My appointment is set for June 21. I don't know when the next procedure will be...presumably sometime after I see her. I have X-rays done that day too. In the meantime I have the pleasure of straining my urine for stones. If I am on my feet for any length of time, I develop more back pain and abdominal cramping so I mostly lay down. (which makes me wonder if they are moving). And we certainly won't be planning any trips to see family until the procedures are over. I don't want to get caught away from home and have to enter a strange hospital, strange doctors, who do not know my history, you know. I too hope I can just pass the remaining stones on my own, but the doctor did not think that likely. At least the stent is still in place to make it easier. I do have an appt with my GP this week as followup so I will let you know if anything changes. I confess I don't like to have this drawn out.....

I don't blame you for not liking to play the waiting game . . . It's no fun and something that only adds to the stress of not feeling good.

When we moved into this house I was carrying box after box upstairs and downstairs . . . when suddenly I had a pain that threw me to the ground. I went to my doctor who thought I had strained my back. He sent me to physical therapy and I endured three shots of . . . whatever . . . into my lower back. After nine months of suffering and begging him to do an MRI I finally got the results that I had been looking for. It wasn't a strained back, or a bulging disc . . . A portion of the disc actually broke off and was sitting on my sciatic nerve. My neurosurgeon told me because we waited so long to get the MRI and t o get surgery I would have permenate nerve damage . . . And so the story goes.

That waiting was worse (at times)than the pain was.

I hope your wait isn't too painful and that you stay upbeat. I know how depressing it is . . .so remember to keep looking up!

Oh Debby, that just sounds so painful. I know others here on the porch have had sciatic issues. I had a doozy while I was fighting the kidney stones and it hurt so bad! But so far, if I don't stand or walk a whole lot, I am getting along okay with just mild back pain and the abdominal cramping. It is now just a matter of waiting till they deal with the remaining stones. I am really fine, just impatient that I have to wait so long.

Carol, I am really sorry for your pain and your wait. You do know to drink lots and lots of water and some cranberry juice, don't you? One of the happiest sounds I can remember was when I was scheduled for the old fashioned long surgery the next day for a persistent large stone (I'd been in the hospital for 10 days), and in the middle of the night I heard a "ping." I told the nurse's aid, "You look; I'm scared to," and she said, "Hallelujah." May you have only "hallelujas"!

Somebody asked the other day if anybody had entered the challenge this time, I entered for Risk.

Since they've opened up the brick toss, I thot I'd include a link here.

Tick Tick Tick

Just corrected the link

I entered also, I think I may fall out waiting for tomorrow to get here. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to enter this weeks or not. I have a story ready, just debating it!
