I am joining along with others in prayers for both Cassie and Carol. Praying their pain would be gone, and the healing and recovery be complete and sure.

God bless!

Just a quick update...

The stress test went well, no sign of blockages. And, best of all, they have now been controlling the pain. The first surgery will sometime tomorrow.

And Cassie is only about five doors down from me, but we haven't seen each other yet. Please keep her in your prayers.

Love you all.

Well, it happened again last night. At 3:15am this morning I was awakened by the sound Carol calling me on my pager.

I became wide awake and was out of bed in a flash. I hurried to my window where I can look down toward her bedroom window. Carol had her lights turned on, so I knew it might be something serious.

It took no more than 30 seconds to get dressed, and head down the stairway to her room. Carol was very surprised to see me at such a horrible hour. She was sitting in her Lazy Boy chair reading a book because she had some trouble sleeping.

Carol asked, "What are you doing here?"

I quickly responded, "What do you mean by that? I'm here because you paged me."

Her response was, "I did not page you. You must have been dreaming again."

She was right. I had imagined it all again...for the umpteenth time.

I think I'm going crazy.

Carol, so glad to hear there was no sign of blockages and that the pain is under control. Thanks for checking in with us. I hope you've had a chance to see Cassie yet today.

Don, sorry to hear you had such a scare. You're so concerned about Carol it's no wonder you dream that she has paged you. :hugs2

I cleaned the garage today, so that's a good job done. And believe it or not, doing so perked me up. I was so tired this morning until I got involved in that project.

Changed floor and rooms so I haven't seen Cassie yet. Marty went to see her. I am pretty much tied to my room with IVs and such. The first surgery will be late this afternoon. Pain is back but it's fibro related now. They will be keeping me again tonight with probable dismissal tomorrow. I will be missing my aunt's funeral tomorrow. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Carol, sorry to hear you'll miss your aunt's funeral. Glad they'll keep you overnight tonight, though. Would hate to see you have problems due to an early discharge.

I had a dream that I got to tell off someone who really gets on my nerves. At least that's one I can laugh about. Lately I've dreamed about the upcoming auction and that my dad is still living. :(

Laurie, that is one way to relieve tensions. I wouldn't be surprised if you continue to dream about your dad for awhile.

Pain is increasing again, they have moved up surgery to 3:00 this afternoon. I don't want to be here. I don't want to do this. But hopefully it will be worth it.

Oh Carol, I don't blame you for not wanting to be there. I wish I could be there with you while you're waiting. I hate the waiting time. The only thing that makes it easier is when I read all my favorite verses.

I will share some with you now . . .

Deuteronomy 31:8

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Psalm 9:9

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Matthew 11:28-29

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Oh, the list could go on and on and on.

Take care and keep us posted.

Prayers are falling from my lips . . .may the Lord keep you during your surgery and may He give you His peace during the wait.

Debby/for Him - you must have the gift of serving! That is so thoughtful of you to provide a handy list of Scripture verses for Carol!

Carol/GreenLeaves and Cassie - you remain at the top of the prayer list in my head. A friend gave me such comfort when I faced biopsy surgery as a young adult. She wrote on the card that accompanied a single flower "The Great Physician is on the case - you are in the best Hands."

To answer Debby's questions:
What version of the Bible do you prefer to read?
King James and RSV are the two I used for memorization when I was much younger (so it "stuck" better); We now have an ESV study Bible, but I am more likely to use the Defender's Study Bible (KJV) when I'm away from the computer. Major study I do online with http://www.blueletterbible.org where many versions/translations are available, plus the Hebrew and Greek concordances (I like to dig). In connection with that I like checking Young's Literal Translation.

What commentary do you use?
I like the Source: the Word (Jesus, Paul, John); Dr. Martin Luther's Large Catechism (I'd love to have a copy of his Treatise on Good Works and more); above mentioned Defender's Study Bible (Dr. Henry Morris).

What are your favorite Bible teaching authors?
Besides the above, Corrie ten Boom, Hannah Whitall Smith, Eric Liddell, Dietrich Bonhoffer, Joseph Seiss - and more - people whose insights come from having "walked the walk" of the cross. In addition, many hymn writers (George Matheson, a favorite) teach profoundly through their poetry set to music.

Carol, I sure don't blame you for not wanting to be there and not wanting to go through this. It's the type of thing where you just can't wait for it to be over and looking at it in your rear view mirror with it looking smaller and smaller by the second. Hugs and prayers, dear friend.

I managed to clean the inside of my car and also to wash and wax it today. Did NOT feel up to it, and barely got through it, but glad it's done. Taking advantage of these nice spring days, but will be glad when spring projects are completed. Maybe next week. I don't think I can stand to be in shoes anymore this week.

Just got back to my room after the surgery. I guess it only took about 20 minutes.
The urologist told Marty that I have four or five large stones about a centimeter. She
has now decided before the second surgery they are going to do ultrasound in water to see
if they can break them up. If not, then the second surgery. She also said I have a
kidney infection so I am on antibiotics for that.

I am hurting but mostly low back and that awful sciatic nerve going down the hip and left
leg. Burning in the other place. The fibro has also kicked up. And for some reason I
am very emotional...tears are comIng easily. The staff here at the hospital have been wonderful.

I appreciate all the prayers that have gone and are going up for me. I am in the Great Physician's hands.

Debby, I loved the verses you sent and held them in my heart as I went into surgery.

Laurie, I am so proud of you for all that you have a comprised in spite of everything you are feeling and experiencing, but I have to admit I am envious. I so need to do some of those things.

Do you guys think I scared off Arpy with all this health stuff? Somebody go hog tie him and bring him back to the porch.

Carol, glad to hear you're out of surgery, praying the pain from all directions will ebb soon. I also am asking the Lord to let them be able to break up the stones so there will be no need for another surgery.

I am so glad that you were able to hold on to some of those scriptures. I remember my first surgery. I was twenty-six and though I already had three babies this was the first time I would have to "go-under" and I was scared to death. The night before surgery the Lord gave me the one scripture that I have carried with me into the next four surgeries that I have had to endure.

Deuteronomy 31:8

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

It brought me comfort to know He went before me into that operating room and would be with me when I got out. What blessed peace He has given me with this one verse.

Prayers will continue as long as needed. :grouphug

Debby/for Him - you must have the gift of serving! That is so thoughtful of you to provide a handy list of Scripture verses for Carol!

Edy . . . I never thought of myself as having the gift of serving. The only thing I have been serving up for the last 40 years of my life . . . is breakfast, lunch, and dinner  I guess now I can add Bible verses too! :superhappy
