Mariane, I am so glad that the trial is over. 50/50 can be very disruptive for the boys, especially since they are old enough to know a more stable environment. Some states, however, are very reluctant to grant the father primary custody. I know someone whose son got divorced in the same county in MN that I did and he did not get custody of their daughters even though the mom had a mental diagnosis that caused her other kids to be taken away.

So, if H does not comply by August 1, do they go back to court or does the Decree automatically state that she looses that privilege until she complies, or what?

You have wearied the LORD with your words.
“How have we wearied him?” you ask.
By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?”

Interesting tidbit. Did you know where the red and white barber pole came from?

Even after the humoral system fell into disuse, the practice was continued by surgeons and barber-surgeons. Though the bloodletting was often recommended by physicians, it was carried out by barbers. This division of labour led to the distinction between physicians and surgeons. The red-and-white-striped pole of the barbershop, still in use today, is derived from this practice: the red represents the blood being drawn, the white represents the tourniquet used, and the pole itself represents the stick squeezed in the patient's hand to dilate the veins. Bloodletting was used to "treat" a wide range of diseases, becoming a standard treatment for almost every ailment, and was practiced prophylactically as well as therapeutically.

Mariane, I'm sorry to hear about the 50/50 verdict. That will be rough. I have the same question as Joanney.

There's so much I want to say, but I don't feel I should on a public forum. Just please pray for me as we will all get together tomorrow. I so do not have the patience for this right now. I'm struggling so much, and I simply can't take one more thing.

The verdict read that if she did not have an adequate job to help support the kids and acceptable housing for them to live in on the days she will have them, that things remain as they are now until such time as she does make those changes. Right now he has full custody and she has them only every other weekend, so it will be a lot more for her to take on. It will not be easy, especially with her working full-time then.

This has been a terrible week. I feel drained tonight so I can only imagine how the principals in this case feel. Whew!

Laurie, it doesn't take much of a stretch to know what's going on with you now so I'm praying God will keep you covered with His quiet presence and protect you. You're right. You've been through enough!

God be with you all.

Hugs to you, Mariane. What an exhausting week for you, and it's no wonder you feel drained. I can't imagine the tension you've felt. And even now, with the decision made, things still remain up in the air, don't they? That's hard, too.

I really don't want to lose my cool, and it wouldn't take much to push my buttons right now. I just about completely lost it a while back. But I'm journaling, listening to praise/worship music and praying tonight. I must have a better heart attitude. This situation shines a bright light on what is probably my greatest weakness. It's an opportunity, though, to experience God's power IF I do the right thing.

Laurie - these words, to what is perhaps the first gospel song we ever learned, came to mind as I read your post: "...we are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me...the Bible tells me so."

Resting on His promises, knowing "underneath are the everlasting arms" I know that you will see the old, painful situation in a new Light. What a comfort to know we don't have to think ahead what we will say, but the Lord promises He will speak through us!

You have so much insight, dear girl; it bears witness to time you've spent in communion with Jesus.

Which reminds me of another early song, which has been a life-long prayer:

Thanks, Edy. :)

I feel for my mom - leaving her home of over 50 years and adjusting to a new place alone. :( It's the right thing, for sure, but a big change. Every step is hard.

Carol, how did your grandson make out? Were the storms bad?

Most of you remember Cassie Memmer when she was a big part of Faithwriters. This is her prayer request:

Well, it's like this, the bacteria is back in my blood just 9 days after
I finished the antibiotics for it. They say that is unusual and perhaps
some place in my body is harboring it. Every time I've immediately been
put in the hospital for sepsis but this time there's a dilemma and the
doctors don't know what to do. Evidently the blood culture results come
back telling the doctors which antibiotics to use and how much to use to
kill the bacteria. Evidently I am allergic to all the preferred
antibiotics except for the one they used last, cubicin/daptomycin (which
lowers my oxygen stats) and the stated dose to kill the bacteria is so
big they can't give that much to me. I'm thankful that since the fever
left I feel fine. Today I was given anceph and gentamycin, trying to
keep the bug at bay. This particular bacteria likes to invade the heart
and valves. It is in the Lord's hands. :) And I'm thankful I haven't
yet had to go to the hospital again. I've got too much to do!! :D
With all of that, I would ask for your prayers. I have no doubt in my
God and I trust Him fully. He is always good! :)

Praying for Dear Cassie. Her faith is beautiful. . . and for dear Laurie to have God's peace in every situation.

Laurie, I thought the jewel of encouragement for today was especially good for being willing to accept God's will in every situation.

Praying, too, Mariane, for God to work out His will for Tim and his (and you and John's!) boys.

Happy weekend, Porch Friends.

We haven't heard from Debby or Carole for awhile. Hope they are okay.

We had our house all torn up yesterday to get our carpets cleaned. It looks so nice now but never seems to take long to attract things even though we have them use a protector on them. Anyone have any suggestions? Course having a cat doesn't help.

Happy Lord's Day!

That was fun. Just had a little bird come up and hang on our patio door taking a long look inside. I wish we had hummingbirds.

My mom's move went well, everything is unpacked and put away, pictures are up on the wall, and all she has left to do is to sort through some papers. It looks so nice. And just like she wanted, she doesn't have clutter (for the first time in her life). :) I'll be over there this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon to help her with address changes, cable, and to be there when maintenance comes to go over the appliances and heating/ac with her.

No one said anything to tick me off, so that helped. Though there were a couple of things said that I'm glad I wasn't there to hear as they were said, though.

Trying to work on ideas for my website when I can. Hopefully they'll help bring in more business. Hard to say, but I won't know until I try. This morning, though, I really should focus on other business matters that need my attention since they have deadlines.

I should be looking again for clerical work to do at home. Haven't had any nibbles in that regard, but I should try again.

I bet you are delighted that task is behind you, Laurie. I'm glad it went well.

Yesterday we had a high of 91 degrees. I am so glad a cool front is going through and it will be back in the 70s this week.
