I'm so excited! My Nyack College roommate from many years ago has written a book about her family's experiences in Laos during the View Nam war. Imagine raising 5 children there during that awful time! I'm so proud of her!

Oh, my, God is pouring out blessings beyond our ability to contain - my eyes have to overflow! Yesterday was our special mission-emphasis Sunday. Our missionary home on leave from Kenya spoke at the combined service with our Hispanic and Oromo Ethiopian congregations. There was a lot of translating going on! It was our Sunday to be in the nursery, but I did get to break away to witness the combined children's choir, so many they covered the front of the sanctuary. How beautiful to see even tiny ones joining in the sign language!

Besides our own in-house choirs, last night's Global Worship celebration included choirs from around the globe, including the Karen Believers from Burma. It so touches my heart to hear how the Lord led them out of persecution to find a welcome on our doorstep in the US and elsewhere. A military general stomping on their flag predicted they would be extinct and found only in a museum. A song leader, last night, said with delight, "But, here we are, in church!" Here's another Karen choir I found on youtube as an introduction:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvTEaeOk ... re=related (the singing starts about 1:25 into the video)

For more information on Burma and the Karen Believers, you can check this link: http://www.christianmonitor.org/documen ... ng=English

The choir from the Vietnamese Alliance church also took part in our celebration. I searched youtube to see if I could find something that depicted the accompanying remarkable bamboo "xylophone." To my surprise I discovered a friend of mine has posted videos from this very congregation on youtube. And, you will see the strange bamboo instrument briefly at the end of this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0rRBFBE ... ture=share

I haven't even begun to track down examples of the other choirs!

Sharing all the hoopla from Mariane for dear Edy's birthday. Edy, you are loved!

About Chuck Colson--Our local paper chose to focus on his wrongdoings of 40 years ago and just mentioned he had a religious experience. This morning there was an editorial in the paper, written by national columnist, Michael Gerson. Several things he said really impressed me:

"In him, I found my greatest example of the transforming power of grace."

""Many wondered at Chuck's sudden conversion to Christianity. He seemed to wonder at it himself. He spent each day that followed for nearly 40 years, dazzled by his own implalusible redemption. It is the reason he never hedged or hesitated in describing his relationship with Jesus Christ. Chuck was possessed, not by some cause, but by someone."

What a beautiful example of a Christian witness Chuck Colson was!

TWO DIFFERENT DOCTORS' OFFICES

Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does!

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint.
Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment. He waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then, gets an x-ray which isn't reviewed for another week. Finally his surgery is scheduled for 6 months from then.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The FIRST is a Golden Retriever.
The SECOND is a Senior Citizen.

Next time take me to a vet!

Don, I really like your first joke about the two doctors, but I will save my comment on the second joke. Unfortunately, I have known people who think like that.

Sorry I am late to the birthday party, Edy. Hope you had a wonderful day.

I put myself as unavailable for subbing today so that I could get some housework done, but took a few naps instead. I did get to the laundromat to wash the comforters that do not fit in my washer, and the dogs got their much needed baths. I also did my budget for May. But I still have several loads of laundry to fold and some to wash yet.

Don't worry, Joanney, I'm late for the party, myself! We've been gone all afternoon and early evening. I've been trying to catch up with emails, prayer requests, and facebook since I got home.

Thank you all for your thoughtfulness in remembering my birthday! The party has been great. I am blessed with so much of God's bounty that my eyes runneth over! Thank you all, dear friends.

Here's what came to mind as Howard and I were driving home, this evening -

Thanks for the jokes, Don.

Joanney, you have a tenant now, don't you? How is that working out?

I keep a close eye on my web stats. They're roughly double what they were a year ago. And those visits represent real people. :) The site gets over 100 visits a day and a day in the 170's is pretty high. Visits usually go down on the weekends, but it was a record day on Sunday with 190 (and yesterday with 193). I wish the increased traffic was resulting in increased business. Been discouraged in that regard lately. :( But increased traffic is still a very good thing.
