Adding my "dittos" and prayers to yours, sweet porch pals. Now, I should go bake some chocolate brownies with chocolate chips in them to take care of this drooling all over the place! And, yes, Betty, we need some parrot stories!

Here's some whipped cream and cherry topping for your day (I love this singer and his selections; turns back the clock to those golden teenage days in my preacher papa's rural parishes, somehow):

When I see images like that of His creation, I can't help but wonder what is in store for us in heaven. Unimaginable! Glory be to God!

Betty! How nice to see you here on the porch today!

Yes, we want more parrot stories.

Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are hard to beat. Yummm!

By the way...my old boat sold today after just a few hours on the market. Now, if his check clears the bank, it will be a done deal.

Speaking of brownies, have you tried the Duncan Hines box mix of Turtle brownies that has streaks of carmel running through it? They're truly decadent. After eating just one, you are guilt-ridden the rest of your life!

How do you make a potato salad sandwich? Is it as easy as it sounds?

Yes to the brownie.
No to the potato salad sandwich.

Is there really such a thing?

Don, since you sold your boat so quickly, maybe you can help me sell a computer desk, two task chairs, a small stand, three totes of decorative items and a tote of craft supplies. Recently advertised all of it - and nothing. :?

Laurie, Did you advertise it in the classified section of the newspaper or did you have a yard sale ? Sometimes one will work when the other won't.

Carol, I haven't had potato salad sandwiches; just read where one of my friends attended a party and they were served. Unless you squish the potato salad til it's mush, I wonder how it would work.

Chuck Colson was deeply ridiculed when he professed Christ as his Savior years ago in prison but he passed the test with flying colors. I loved his writings, loved his passion for Christ, loved his concern for the whole prison population.

There was only one thing I disagreed with and it's minor. He wrote to Charles Stanley after Stanley's divorce and told him he should resign from the ministry. Stanley did indeed try repeatedly to resign but the board of Stanleys's church wouldn't accept his resignation. He had tried desperately to hold his marriage together. God has used Stanley in winning thousands to Christ through his Biblically-based sermons.

Mariane, I advertised via a community e-mail that's free and goes out to a lot of people in the area. I think next I will try (for the computer desk and task chairs) a free radio ad through the local radio station. Then I would like to have a garage sale at some point, but my mom will have a better location for that (she won't be many blocks off main street so we won't need to advertise, but I can put it in the community e-mail and put up a couple of fliers in town). There's no way it can be anytime soon with all that's going on, but maybe late summer. I have limited storage space, and I'm just not one who can tolerate very well having extra stuff around. It drives me crazy.

Laurie, the advertising for an item must be done in a place where the exposure is targeting the most potential buyers who might be actually searching for such an item. In other words...it might not be productive to advertise a dining room table at a automotive transmission repair seminar.

I could have paid for ads in our local newspaper, but more than 99% of the readers are not in the market for a used boat. Instead, I negotiated a reasonable fee with a highly visible marine dealer to allow me to place my boat in a prominent place next to the dealership showroom. Almost everyone going there is in the market for a boat.

They would "show" the boat to the potential buyers, and contact me for acceptance after an offer was made. The fee was a percentage of the selling price, and would be paid when the sale was made.

Within three hours, my boat was sold...and in today's rain, too.

Laurie, if you can't tolerate having a bunch of stuff around, you won't be able to come to my house. I still have a lot of things to get rid of but my energy level doesn't allow for much activity. I have given away bags and bags of clothes to Goodwill and lots of other things to our kids, but still have so much more to do. Sometimes I wish the girls would just come in and box things up and either keep them or give them away. It is going to have to be done before Marty retires and we move. If I could do just a little every day, but I hate living with the mess in between.

And the last time I did this, instead of taki g it to Goodwill, Marty took it to our storage unit!! That was the last thing we needed. Now it will have to be sorted again!

Don, that's cool that you were able to make that arrangement. I completely agree with your strategy. Wish there was a way to target an audience here in Podunk Hollow with the type of items I have for sale. :? ;)

Carol, I understand what you mean about the mess in between if you worked on things a little at a time. Unless you have a room where you could take things to sort through them and close the door, it would be hard to tolerate the mess. It seems to always get worse before it gets better.

In addition to having limited storage space, for me, the more stuff I have, the more allergens have something to land on. :? It's like setting out a welcome mat for them. ;)

Had a good prayer time tonight. May I let it "stick".

I find myself thinking more about what heaven is like. I know it's beyond anything I can comprehend, but I find myself more curious now as I wonder what my dad is doing.
