Sorry, Edy. It was saying that Chuck Colson is not doing well and has taken a definite turn for the worse since his brain surgery a couple of weeks ago.

Watergate figure Charles Colson in grave condition

Published April 18, 2012

Associated Press

The chief executive at the prison ministry founded by Watergate figure Charles Colson says he is in grave condition two weeks after undergoing brain surgery.

Jim Liske, chief executive of Lansdowne-based Prison Fellowship Ministries, issued a statement Wednesday saying Colson "will soon be home with the Lord" and that Colson's condition began deteriorating Tuesday after some signs of recovery.

Colson underwent brain surgery to remove a clot after becoming ill March 30 while speaking at a conference.

The 80-year-old Colson had been President Richard Nixon's special counsel, and spent seven months in prison on a Watergate-related conviction. He became a born-again Christian and has since been an advocate for ministering to prison inmates.

On MSN today, there's an article about the poorest county in each state. I don't live in the poorest county in my state, but the median income in that county is more than I've ever made.

Thanks for your prayers and comments, Verna and Edy. Actually, we didn't have a thing organized or in place when we started. But we're pulling it all together and it's my niche to organize. ;) Plus I'm a Glass, and we MOVE. ;) Others in the family have been through the house and all of the outbuildings (no small task!). Things are all sorted and ready for Mom's move in a couple of weeks and are close to ready for the auction at the end of June.

Before I went to pick up the offer yesterday, it just hit me. I couldn't stop crying, and I kept telling dad that I'm so sorry. That farm has been in the family for about 85 years. I know there will be times like that, but I also know it's something that needs to be done. And, like my mom says, it won't get easier if she waits. We see the attorney this morning.

Latest Joe update

Each day giving new promise from all your prayers. Joe is still weak but is "studying" hard for his swallowing test tomorrow. Went for dialysis today and actually "wizzed" on his own - not much but promising. He realizes he has a long road ahead. He is in good spirits and is on ice chips for the fare of the day - at which he flicks at you if you "get his goat". That's my boy!!

That's a sweet post about Joe, Carole. Every bit of encouragement is welcomed, isn't it?

Are any of you Thomas Kinkaid (sp?) fans. His paintings are the most purchased in the U.S. in spite of his being panned by critics. Apparently after his divorce, things went downhill for him.
http://www.crosswalk.com/news/thomas-ki ... tions.html
Nevertheless his art has brought pleasure to millions of people. I believe he was only 54 when he died.

Please permit me another grandson story. Last night, first-grader Charles, was put to bed in the living room on the pull-out couch with Jackson. Tim needed some time too prepare for his permanent custody hearing in 2 weeks so the boys slept up here. After about 15 minutes of being quiet, Charles came into my bedroom and said "Grandma, Jackson has been picking on me all this afternoon so to be fair, don't you think I should be given extra time on the computer right now as punishment to Jackson?" He tried to look serious but when I burst ourt laughing, he knew all was in vain and went back to bed.

Love you guys.

I love to hear your "grandson" stories. They are so precious.

I was really saddened by the news we hear of Kinkade. I love his paintings and always felt the landscapes were a piece of heaven. I won't criticize him. We all have our own issues and I am grateful for the grace of God.

Cute grandson story, Mariane. What fun those boys are. :)

I got an e-mail yesterday for health insurance for seniors.

Spent the morning helping my mom. I should bake this afternoon so I don't get behind on that, but I'm so tired. I was so keyed up for days, and didn't sleep that great, and now it's starting to hit me.

I have been busy the past few days. I bought another boat.

My other boat that I will be selling (soon, I hope) is too big and heavy for me to launch and re-load by my myself. Besides, it was designed for combination ski/fishing/pleasure boating with much more horsepower than I want or will ever need again. The kids left home long ago, and also, since I'm not as durable/flexible as I once was, my days of water skiing are over.

The "new" boat is used, but in excellent shape. It is fully outfitted for the kind of fishing I do on our lake (live well, elect. trolling motor, depth finder/fish locator, fishing rod storage, driver's console steering/instrument panel, on-board battery charger, swivel bucket seats, powered by a 4 stroke engine with tilt/trim...and it is 800 pounds lighter.

Now, I'm trying to figure out how all the stuff works. Maybe I'll see you out on the water soon if our weather ever warms up.

Surfing the web...realizing there is no warmer, welcoming place than the porch. Dropping by to say you are still on my mind and to leave a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies. Thanks for taking such great care of Ole Blue. He sat in the swing with me, his head in my lap, just like old times. Love to all.

Hi Betty. Nice to see you stop in. :)

Have fun on your new boat, Don. :)

I'll have some time for myself this afternoon and off and on through the weekend. :) Please pray that I will hear and obey God. I HAVE to let go of things, and I've really struggled to do so. I don't want to miss out on what God has for me because I'm carrying things I shouldn't. And I just need to not be consumed by this stuff because it's taking away my time and energy from grieving. I need time to grieve. I don't want to carry around pent up emotions. Been there, done that, not good.

Jess is being moved to rehab today. May she not have any further complications.

Betty!!! Good to see you, sweet friend! It seems to me that Betty named Old Blue but my memory isn't as keen as it used to be. At any rate, he's still our porch buddy who takes care of our porch for us and has our permission to trot down the dirt road to visit the farmer's dog who inexplicably keeps having puppies that look remarkably like Ole Blue. (But that's probably our imagination.) Anyway, you're always welcome, Betty, and your porch rocker still has your name stenciled on it.

You continue to be on our prayer list, Laurie. Your mother must be so appreciative of the way you've stepped up to the plate to make things easier for her. God bless you both!

T and H's permanent custody trial had originally been set for Sept but she petitioned the
court to hear it right away, so the date is set for May 5. I don't know how it will all turn out but the situation needs a lot of prayer.

It's a quiet weekend with everyone gone but John and me.

Love you all
Mariane

I'm eating one of your warm chocolate chip cookies, Betty, with a glass of milk. Yum! I'm so glad you stopped by. Do you have any parrot stories? Do they talk a lot? I don't think I ever heard much about them...I came in too late.

Don, that sounds like some boat! I hope you truly enjoy it.

Laurie, praying that you will get things resolved in your heart by the grace of God. He is able to control what we cannot when we give Him permission. Spiritual battles are His specialty. It is only the enemy who wants us to be tied up in knots.

Hmmm a chocolate chip cookie from sweet Betty (I loved seeing you right where you belong with Ole Blue keeping you company)--just what I needed to go with the red velvet pancakes I had for breakfast at IHOP--not that I have a sweet tooth or anything :D

Praying for you, Laurie, for a peaceful heart and a good rest this weekend.

Praying Dear Mariane for Tim to get the boys permanently.

Carol, you and I will hope in Don's new toy and take a ride to welcome springtime.

Edy, I have a grandson getting married this summer, as well. Then there will be just one single grandchild among our four.

God bless all our porch pals!

Fun that you have a wedding coming up, Verna. Of my nine nieces and nephews, the adults are ages 23-32. Not one of them is married.

Thanks for your prayers and kind words everyone. My heart is beginning to soften, but I still have a long ways to go. I think of how HE is the strength in my weakness. What an opportunity to experience God's power in my life - as long as I let Him do His work.
