Carole, thanks for the updates on Joe.

One of my dad's sisters (Barb) is having hospice care now. She's had cancer for over a year and has been through a lot. Actually, my dad comes from a family of 10. Eight of them either have or have had cancer. The other two - one died of a heart attack and one is a younger sibling so it's hard to say what she'll face in the future. Anyway, I don't know where Barb stands with the Lord (I'm not close to my relatives). I did send her a tract when I sent her the poem and the piece I wrote about my dad that were read at the funeral (she wasn't well enough to attend the service).

Carol, your poem says it all, doesn't it? The work was completed at Calvary and
emblazoned across the hearts of every believer was that single, most wonderful word
for all who believed: FORGIVEN. I love the way you don't mince words but get right
to the heart of the message, which makes Easter weekend the most wonderful
three days.

I used to think about Good Friday alot and Easter Sunday even more but in recent
years I began to think more and more about Saturday, that day when every believer,
every disciple, every member of Jesus' family must have asked themselves hundreds
of times, "How could we have been so wrong? He performed miracles! He never did
a thing wrong! Everything He predicted came true! And now he lies dead in a tomb
and we don't understand why this man who claimed to be God Himself could leave
us so hopeless, so helpless, so hurt, so humiliated."

Any way you look at it, Saturday must have been the worst day of their lives. So, I wrote about that awful Saturday:

Mariane, you have such a gift with poetry. A whole sermon could be made on the sadness, uncertainties and doubts of Saturday. Then comes the dawning!

I’ve taken delight in lingering on the porch to read notes from dear friends, to praise for prayers answered and to pray for requests.

Mariane, I thought the same thing you did about Joanney and Laurie, but I didn’t even think it so eloquently. Your Easter poem is such a blessing.

Carole, Grief for those we’ve lost sneaks up on us sometimes when we least expect it. I cherish the notebook of handwritten recipes my mom left me—and my siblings, as well. I used many of them in a cookbook I made online (Tastebook).

Now I need to go and read all the links to pieces by our gifted writers.

I wish each one on the porch a blessed Easter.

And here is an Easter poem of mine.
I really identify with Simon in his soliloquy.

I regularly remind Bill to read the instructions all the way through when cooking or baking something new. So, when planning on making the lamb cake for tomorrow, I skimmed the instructions, making sure I had the ingredients, then promptly set it aside and went out for a few hours, thinking I had plenty of time to bake the TWO lamb cakes I was planning.

Then, when I actually got started, I read all the way thru! I will be lucky to get ONE made. It takes an hour to bake, then has to cool completely- about 4 hours- IN THE MOLDED PAN before removing and icing. That means I will be icing the first cake about 10 PM.

SIGH!

I really wanted to do two of them. I might try to get a second one baked tonight, and iced in the AM.

I wanted to do one white cake with coconut fur and one chocolate with fudge icing without the dreaded C. (I hate coconut, but everybody else is looking forward to it.) So, I will be making the coconut one for sure, it's baking now. Maybe if I nap during the cooling I can get the chocolate one baked.

Carole, would it be too much to take a picture of your cake/s? They sound like so much work, but it will bring back so many pleasant memories for everyone.

Debby, I've missed you! How are you doing? Are you feeling any better? Any bites on your house?

I hope all of my porch friends are blessed today on this special day. We went to church but it somehow feels so strange not to be with any family on this special day.

Hooray for Debby--I've missed you.

I appreciated all the poetry, Laurie, Don (even from an unknown author), Carole (from link), and Carol (from link).

Don, that's a wonderful thing to find from so very long ago.

I'd love a piece of Carole's cake--with or without coconut.

We had a wonderful service--uplifting music and a sermon from our pastor--"Christ alive in me."

Blessed Easter!

But, then Praise the Lord . . . as He has great things in store for me and my household . . . I have been in a funk . . . and He has raised me up and over it. I have been sick again . . . in bed for days and now we have our home off the market so we can clean up from winter. We have till the end of the month to get so much done. I go to be every night with a hot-pad for my back and an ice-pack for my neck. I rub my arthritic fingers with some goop and wear gloves to bed.

All those boxes I packed last year, well I must of used the "you will be moving in three months" brand . . . because all of them have to be re-taped with the " I am the Lord your God, and will determine the time you move" brand. All of the tape has come off every single box!

Today in my morning prayer I read an excellent summary of Psalm 102 and it is OK to complain to the Lord! Not sure if I saw it was OK to complain to my porch buds or not????? But, thought what the hey . . . of course today may not be the best day to give it a shot . . . but if we can't rejoice in our trouble too . . . then we can't really appreciate when things are going smoothly.

So, let's give praise to the Lord, for He is working mighty things in my life.

Amen and Amen . . .

PS . . . How are you? I laid in bed the other night and read about 20 pages of porch chat so I know how your trip went and I do hope you are recovering well, my friend.

Well must go and get ready to go to my daughter's for dinner. Hope to pop back in soon with more wonderful, uplifting news

Love and hugs

Aw, Debby, I so wish you lived next door. I would pop over (in my comfy caftan) and catch up. I really hate that you are not feeling better. My prayers are headed upward in your behalf.
