Page Turner 2010 - Top Contenders

Post by Deb Porter »

As promised, here is the list of top contenders for this year's Page Turner.

Please Note: Apart from the first three (the winners and two runners up), the list is not in any specific order.

2010 Page Turner Champion

The Price of Freedom by Shauna Soukoreff Dolan

2010 Page Turner Runners Up

* Christchurch Earthquake 2010 by Debbie Roome

* Music, Tradition and the Church by Carol Slider

2010 Page Turner Top Contenders (all highly commended)

* No Nut Sense by Diana Dart
* How's Your Mood, Mom? by Robyn Terry
* This Can Not Perish by Lillian Rhoades
* God's Old Dog Obedience School by Sandra Fischer
* In the Mirror - The Face of Jesus, Human Like Me by Michael Joshua
* The Prodigal Son Who Didn't Come Home by Terri Schroeder

There were many other excellent entries, but these top contenders were the ones the judges felt had the greatest publishing potential based on creativity and freshness of idea/ability to meet a specific need (niche market).

Love, Deb

I am also very proud to have been in the running.

Congratulations to the winners and everyone who put in a submission for the Page Turner contest. I do plan to complete my book anyway and try to have it published.

Very very cool!

Can the authors give us a little idea about what each book is about? I'm very curious about a few of those titles

Shari,

Not sure if my title was one that tickled your curiousity, but here's a mini overview.

THIS CAN NOT PERISH

The Seventh Generation Principle and how it Can Change America

The Seventh Generation Law states: "In all our deliberations, we must be mindful of the impact of our decisions on the seven generations to follow ours;” and is not antithetical to the Scriptures where the following is recorded: "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children" (Prov. 13:22).

THIS MUST NOT PERISH looks at America from the Seventh Generation Law perspective as it applies to the current political, economic, religious, and cultural climate. After a brief overview of the Iroquois Confederacy and their impact on our Founding Fathers, I examine this ancient Native American principle, and consider its significance on America's history and implications for our future.

I plan to move forward with developing the rest of the outline.

Yowsa, just stumbled on this... And I too, am extremely honoured to be among such great authors! Shucks

Lillian, your book sounds very intriguing and altogether timely. Blessings on finishing it and moving forward.

My entry is a personal story surrounding our little family and how our big God has revealed Himself through my son's serious peanut allergy. The story's aim is to give hope to others living with these limitations, as well as enlighten those who may get a little confused and frustrated about the whole "No Nut" phenomenon. A dash of humour, heavy on the authenticity and just a sprinkle of scientific facts should make this one up when all is said and done. Now, to get the thing done.....

Congrats again to the winners and shout outs to all who entered!!!

Thanks Diane for those encouraging words. You're right on when you say, " Now to get the thing done." I published my first book via POD. This time around I'd really like to go with a traditional publisher - no easy task.

Congratulations to you, and may God direct you as you consider how to proceed with your personal story. As a retired nurse, I know the nuts and bolts of dealing with peanut allergies (pun intended). :D
