You know when you have one of those stories and you think it's just about as good as it's ever going to get? That was this week's Descartes and the Dinosaur. Many thanks to the judges and to those kind commentators who showered me with gold boxes even when there wasn't any hinting.
Serving as a missionary, the whole issue of developmental aid is very much a hot potato for me and I was careful in my story not to give any easy answers. We're called by God to transform individuals and communities and it's all too easy to opt for the quick fix. Not surprisingly such solutions rarely last. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I guess you need to click on the link to the story. Read, think, pray, act! By the way, an encouragement to those who feel that they will never quite get there in terms of the Weekly Challenge. I joined FaithWriters back in 2006 and yet this is the first time that I have managed to place number one overall. I've come first in Masters before but pipped to the post by someone in Advanced. It's therefore the first time that I have been in the running for Best of the Best. I thank God for FW and for the opportunity to learn to excel. Little by little I'm also getting there. Gregory Kane
Well I certainly wasn't expecting that! I'm just putting this post on for those of you who read my "Think before you leap". I've had quite a few comments along the lines of, "Wow, you're really brave" "You must be getting too old for it". Just so you know, I haven't actually ever done the things mentioned in my story. My parents would kill me. I wrote it from research and a good chunk of imagination. But thanks anyway.
What can I say? I am SO proud of both my men!! Congratulations Gregory and Daniel. Your creative juices obviously flow even better when the rest of us are not around to distract you!:D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
The stories this week were all so amazing. Special shout-out to Sarah Elizabeth - great story, friend. The winners all truly deserve it. Well done! Rachel Phelps
The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible. ~Vladimir Nabakov Visit my blog Par Excellence
Whoohoo, congrats to all the winners! Way to go Amanda!!! Lollie, the first EC is so amazing!
Special congrats to Gregory! Doesn't get any better than the top, but I really appreciate your spirit. Aw, thanks Rachel, I was totally surprised! This is not one I expected to place. No topics til October, so time to kick back and relax! whatever ![]()
