Highest rankings for Discern

Post by oursilverstrands »

I just want to add my congratulations to all the winners. Please pray for me lest I be overcomed by the Green-Eyed monster or the "You"ll Never Make It" intruder.

Question: Did I miss the Highest Rankings for Discern?

You didn't miss them. I'm sure Deb will post them when she can (I THINK she may be on the way back to Australia from the US - or maybe she's home and trying to get organized. OR sleeping :D

Oh ya tricked me! I knew Deb was flying on Thurs and Know there's a time change so I've been quite patient, then you went and tricked me

Of course, I'm tricked quite easily! So really it's no big deal. Waiting just makes it all the more fun. :D

I'll pray for you as I am often tormented by the "You'll Never Make It To Masters" intruder. ;) We just have to keep trying! Harder and harder and harder ... you'll get there if you keep the right attitude. (Points finger back at self. )

Same here. *moans*

Even if there's no earthly chance of being on the list, I still like to see who did make it.

Changing Levels

I have a question for someone. I thought I had to win a challenge to move up. I placed second, but several comments indicated I should move up. Do I? Thanks

I think if you win a challenge in Beginner or Intermediate that you HAVE to move up. If you don't win, you can choose whether you think you're ready to move up or not.

At least, that's what I understood. :)

They changed the rules a while back, it used to be if you placed 1st, 2nd or3rd in a level you had to move up (except moving to Masters for that you have to earn 3 EC) But they discovered that some people might be moving up before they were ready.

So now the rule is if you place 1st in levels 1 or 2 you have to move up. But you can start at whatever level you feel comfortable. When they changed the rules I had been in level 3 for awhile, but didn't feel like I belonged.

Deb announced if you hadn't placed first you could move back down. So I went back to level 2 for a few weeks. Once I was more confident I moved back to level 3.

So the choice is really yours, if you want to advance you can, but if you want to stay at that level until you feel comfortable advancing or until you place first, you can do that too.

Here's the link to the guidelines for anyone who needs to look at it.

Thanks to you both for the info. I'll think about it and see how I do in the Breathe challenge. I want to be ready to compete and the next level when I move up. I feel as if I've stayed in Beginners a very long time though.

  I've got it! Debi has decided the next word will be Patience.
So, she's just getting us tuned to write what we practice. :D

I started at Level 3. Maybe I need a reality check. Fiction has never been my thing. I feel so out of sync. From what I've observed, the search is on each week for the "Write" stuff for the Anthologies.

Blow me a "No" if I'm seeing it all wrong. :?m Even if I'm right, I'll
keep trying

Sorry gang. Steve and I arrived in Sydney on Thursday and we hit the ground running. Every time we do a trip like this, I absolutely promise myself to take the first day slowly, but we never do. We walk in the door and start cleaning, washing, grocery shopping, and generally catching up straight away. This time faster than ever.

When will we learn?

Then the jet lag hits about a day or so later. I never feel it when we fly over to the US, but it always hits coming back.

Anyway, I'm sorry to keep you waiting, but today's been the first chance I've had to really get back online. Still got two big piles of washing to do (about ten already done), but things are gradually getting back to our normal state of havoc.

So now that I'm actually over here posting the all clear, and catching up on your posts, I'll finally get the highest rankings up. It is a smaller list, though, because we did have a smaller batch of entries for that week.
