Battle Cry

Postby Lakota » Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:18 pm

I am going to use Leah's quote as my battle cry. In fact, I would love it if we all could adopt this as our battle cry here on our forum for Faith Writers Are Losing It.

So hear me loud and clear as I lift my voice and cry loudly...

"If self-control is the fruit of the Spirit, and I have the Holy Spirit inside me, then I have self-control. I can do this!"

Do I have any fellow FWALI who are willing to adopt this as their battle cry too?

If so, then plese pray with me and let us join our hearts and spirits to unite in the common goal of a healthier life.

Lord Jesus, I am convinced that you have given us the spirit of self-control. Help me from this moment on to use this gift of the spirit for a healthier life. Deafen my ears to the voice of the flesh when it tries to convince me that I have no power to resist unhealthy choices. Break the power of the flesh to sway me. Help me to stand in Your power from this moment until the day you call me home to be with You in Heaven.

In Jesus name, Amen.

love and hugs,
Naye

This was great!
I'm glad it's "sticky", because I think I'll be reading it often!

Thanks, Naye!

I just read this post and prayed the prayer. We'll see how it goes. I used to weigh 250lbs and have lost to 179lbs so far. I still need to make some other adjustments so maybe this prayer is it.

Greetings, all,

I recently rejoined the Writing Challenge, but I want to get involved in other areas of Faithwriters as well, and this thread is one I really need. I have 100 pounds to lose. I know what I need to do to lose the weight; I just need to make the choice daily to put forth the effort. So today, I prayed the prayer and I'm committing to using the self-control I have been given by God.

Blessings to you all!

The road will be difficult, with many pitfalls. First, let your physician tell you a diet plan that fits your life style. If you use a cell phone there are a number of programs to help you track calories and exercise. Start slowly and increase your effort daily, weekly. Do it quietly, bragging about your progress only leads to guilt when you fall back. If you do not have an exercise program, contact me, I can help.

Find a friend, and if all possible start walking (immediately). Remember, it's you and God together on this project. He believes in you, so do I.
"Here I am Lord, send me."

Encouraging words, Dub. Thank you!

I actually discussed this with my doctor a couple of years ago. He's been my doctor for over five years, and he knows my medical history and situation pretty well. His recommendation for me was "no white." No sugar, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc. And for me, that's what really works. So I just need to get back on it. And I'm trying to do that. It's just difficult to make a complete break from all white foods when you've allowed yourself to have them.

Yes, walking is the best exercise for me. I just make excuses and don't get outside. But knowing that I'm being "watched" by others helps to motivate me. :) I've found accountability works well for me.

It's a beautiful day today, so I'm going to get outside and walk. Hopefully for 30 minutes.

Thanks again, Dub!
