Welcome to the FaithWriters Message Boards

Post by Deb Porter »

Welcome to the FaithWriters Message Boards. We hope you'll find fellowship, encouragement, inspiration, and lots of fun here in this very supportive and loving community of Christian writers.

New members often feel a little nervous about jumping straight into the discussions, but every new member is given a warm welcome, so there's nothing to fear.

First stop for new members is the Newbie Nook:

We love getting to know new members, so pop over there and post a new message to introduce yourself. You can tell as much or as little as you want. We just want to meet you.

Once you've done that, feel free to visit any of the forums and post to any of the discussions. All public forums are open to everyone, so if you see a discussion that takes your fancy, don't hesitate to join in. Even the different "neighborhoods" are open to all. So if you are an Aussie and want to visit the US Neighborhood, walk right in.

You'll find a brief overview of each of the forums on the main page of the message boards. Take a moment to read the descriptions and get to know the various sections and what they offer. If you love socializing, then spend some time in the Water Cooler, or perhaps head over to the USA Neighborhood and visit the Porch thread there. For fun, jump into the never ending story in the Water Cooler. If you are a Challenge-addict, then the Challenge forums are for you, with encouragement, hinting and highest ranking results. If you love a good debate, then the Theology and Chat forum may be just right for you. Wherever you go, the only thing we ask is that respect for all members be shown at all times.

The main page of the message boards is also the best place to start on every visit. If you look in the top left corner, just above the message boards, you'll see three links:
View posts since last visit
View your posts
View unanswered posts
The top link is the best way to keep up to date with the newest posts each time you come back to the message boards. It will show you all the discussions that have had new posts since your last visit. This is the direct link to that page:

Most members find this "newest post" search invaluable, and we're sure you will as well.

At the moment, you may find some discussions go to a page that says no posts are available. Unfortunately, we had a major server meltdown at the start of January 2009, and sadly, the back-up for the boards was corrupted. We lost years of information, fellowship and discussions. We are in the process of gradually updating information and removing old posts; however, this will take time. Please bear with us when you find these old discussions.

Unfortunately, this has also damaged our FAQ's section at the bottom of the boards. We will update this information as soon as possible.

The good news is that we are a very chatty bunch, and new discussions are rapidly filling pages again.

If you are lost, have a question about FaithWriters, or anything for that matter, don't hesitate to ask. One of the greatest blessings about the FaithWriters Message Boards is the willingness of members to help one another. There is no such thing as a dumb question. So if you are wondering about something, ask. There may be others wanting to know the same thing.

For many members, the FaithWriters community is an oasis in the midst of a busy and often stressful world. The friendships made here have, at times, been life changing, and we hope you will find that for yourself. The encouragement, information and opportunities have caused many to truly believe in their God given potential and start effectively using their writing gifts for His glory. If we can help our members to become the writers God created them to be, then we have achieved our goal.

So make yourself at home. We are so glad to have you with us.

With love,

Deb Porter
