Writers group in Tampa/Orlando area

I live in Tampa, and serve on a board in Orlando (also have use of a condo there). If you get more respondents and the time impact isn't too much I would be interested.

I have gotten fewer responses than I had hoped for. Likely because of the holidays when most of us have other things going on. For those of you who are interested; maybe it would help if you also contacted other FW writers personally, or writers in general. The more we "get the word out" the more we might hear back and get this thing going.

But how do we critque someone who is awesome enough to give a seminar at a writing conference?

Have you been down this way James? Through Summerfield and on into Lady Lake where the Cracker Barrel is on 27? (it could be anywhere really - there are lots of places in the Villages.)

Terri would be coming up and you'd be coming down and it would cut ya'lls driving time to less than 1/2.

We could take turns at each other's cities since it would be an hour for you and her.

It's only 1/2 for me either way.

And I guess it would have to be on a Saturday if you work during the week. Terri and I are both free to adjust schedules. At least I am - I can check with her.

Sounds good to me - but will you all wait until I return from Seattle??? I'm headed there this Friday and return Sept 11. Maybe we could get together the next week? Were you only free on Saturdays? If so then I could do it the 22nd - but we can all check our schedules as we get closer.

James - your time might be more constricted than ours during the week. What's a good day for you?

And Terri - it probably will take you anywhere from 30-45 min.s depending on what side you live on and how close you live to 27.

The Cracker Barrell is right on 27 (right hand side) pass Leesburg, through Fruitland Park, through The Villages - Lowes is right behind it.

You could actually stay in the farthest right hand lane when you get to The Villages part because it ends at the Cracker Barrell.

Now ... do we bring some work or what? Who's going to take the plunge and tell James his work is crummy and to do a rewrite?

Not me I just read your cell phone story James and loved it
I think we could bring something short to share - I know I have a few stories I am working on that if they don't need to be submitted before then - I'll bring one. Would love feedback. The group I am in is great but I don't always bring the stories that are really Christian in nature - mostly I read the inspirational ones that don't have verses and stuff so I would like to share that way.
Even if we meet every few months when we can - the contact will be great and encouraging

I spoke with a lady in my group here who is a Christian and learning to write inspirational stuff and she said she would come too if it works out with her schedule. So keep me posted - I think a tuesday or a thursday --- let's split the difference and do 10:30 - that way I can have tea -
