Dub, mine are dramatically cheaper than that. Xulon charge 0.015 cents a word for basic editing, which works out really expensive for an average length manuscript. So the prices you've been quoted are mind-blowing.

To be honest, mine are really too cheap for the work involved; however, I am so horrified by the number of books that are not edited, that as well as being a business, I find it just as important to serve writers by making editing as affordable as possible.

deb, the lady who looks at my stuff (secular), I pay a flat $100 for long manuscripts (over 60K) and $50 for shorter. I have paid $50 to others for some short work also. Willie is at 120K right now, but needs heavy, heavy edit, will probably tip the scale at 100K after my rewrite. Zita is at 78K, but should be in the 80K range after rewrite.

Twin Rivers has been editted, and I paid $50 for it, but it is very short. I am going to double the length and ask the same person if she will edit it for another $50.

Still looking for a reasonable price for comprehensive edits. Editors can send me a pm for a quote.

Yes please, Dub. That would be a help. A sample chapter would be great. Just send it to my email address.

Editing Service

Postby Fledgling Writer » Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:06 pm

Greetings Deb,

I have a work-in-progress that is about 90% finished. It is approx 100 pages and I intend to place the book into the FaithWriters e-book store by the end of Dec of this year.

I have attempted to e-mail you through your website and through my e-mail since Sept and haven't heard from you. I would like to know how much you charge for editing a manuscript of that size and how long would it take.

Thank you for your time.

I've also emailed Deb via her site and here and have had no reply which I find a little unusual as Deb is usually so prompt with replies. Hope everything's okay.
