Can't have a blank page, can we?
I just saw this entirely new thread with not a single post in it and had to scribble...... so, who's going to pray about submitting a chapter and synopsis?
I have an idea that will probably work but I don't think it will win. The beautiful thing about a book is that you can play out the details instead of rush everything, unlike the challenge.

Oh, that's me, too. There's no way I'd win with the awesome talent around here, but it's a good goal for me, one that I feel like I need to take seriously. Now, if I can find the time! I'm almost embarrassed to even try, but I gotta get over that, too!

We are all so much alike it's scary. We all talk about the outstanding talent we have here at FW, and that we all couldn't possibly win, yet we desperately want to. We never want to admit (me included) that we, ourselves, add to this talent pool. This is a seriously fun crowd.
It truly is an amazing place we have here. I've never been anywhere, cyber or otherwise, where there are so many gifted people with such little ego. It's truly a beautiful thing. No matter who wins, that person will be bombarded with sincere congrats with out a malicious word spoken or otherwise.
Personally, my main hope is this; this contest (the six month deadline is genious, btw) will spark me enough to write a novel. I have a YA novel gathering dust, but that was BFW (Before FaithWriters) where my writing was flawed beyond belief. I hope beyond hope that I can somehow find the time to at least come up with a solid idea and start to my own Christian novel. Be still my heart.
Good luck to us all. Makes me wonder, though, how blessed are the people who get to read all of the amazing work they will soon be buried with.
I have no idea where this post come from, but best wishes to my FW brethren.

Go for it gang! Bear in mind that this won't be judged like the Challenge. We are just looking for extreme readability--the winner will be the one that made us most want to turn the page and read Chapter 2.
Just make sure that you have have a synopsis to go with the submission of your first chapter, so we can be sure that the winner has a relatively clear idea where the novel is going.

And, might I add, everyone isn't cut out to be a novelist so if it's not you, you don't need to force the issue.
I won't be entering (at least I'm pretty sure I won't be) so someone else can take my place.
What I'd be interested to see is how many people decide to put their money where their mouth is and find the finances to support FW.

Where else could you have this much fun for just under 33 cents per day?
If nothing else maybe this contest will at least nudge me to finally finish my book.

You know, I almost thought about not entering so I'd get to read all the chapters and help judge. Sounds fun and so much less stressful than the challenge.
Almost. No way I'm gonna miss this opportunity!
Deb, will it still qualify if it's a novella, rather than a full-length novel? The chapters will be normal length, at any rate, there'll just be fewer chapters.

Considering the longest thing I've written was a 50 some odd student teaching portfolio (double spaced, with all sorts of charts and samples of student work) and the longest fiction piece I've written is probably only a thousand words or so, I don't think I'm exactly cut out to be a novelist. Hehe
