#2 Pocket Testament League WINNERS HERE NOW!

Postby mikeedwards » Sun Jun 17, 2012 8:37 am

Hello FaithWriters,

Thank you for your participation. We were thrilled with the entries for this contest. We learned a lot in the process that will help this program grow in the right direction. There are endless possibilities and they all include exposure and real paid writing experience for you, our writers. We encourage you to polish your writing in the Challenge and by utilizing the critiques from other brothers and sisters in Christ. There is not a safer and more caring place to step out and take the risk. After you view these winners please visit the new contest that starts today 7-13-12 and give it your best.

With the Challenge you are judged with a very critical eye in the effort to refine your skill. With this contest your writing is judged by the client just like it is in the real world. You need to grab their attention and keep it. Congratulations to all of you as you promoted Christ while improving your gift of writing. Here is the email I received from PTL with the top three entries.

WHERE IS MY BRIDE? By Kimberly Miller

The vivid experience of sorrow felt driving down Independence Avenue gripped my heart with untold anguish. Tears soon blurred my view of the desolate and decaying street, as an unknown fury began to rise up from my belly. Anguish had turned to weeping and weeping to anger; anger had then led my weary heart into groaning intercession with the Almighty.

I cleared my eyes and continued to survey the avenue. Prostitutes stood far from discreet at various vantage points, drunks stumbled disarrayed throughout the littered alleys, mothers dragged along numerous children who since birth were sentenced to the cycling mentality of poverty, and at every corner I drove by there stood a church.

God’s grief and longing for humanity had become mingled with my own angered discontent with society’s brokenness and bondage. I began to cry out to God, asking Him why He was doing nothing about the state of my city, and why He continued to leave the people hurting and without a Shepherd. My fury at the injustice I was viewing, lead me to come all but close to accusing God of doing nothing to save the lost.

And that’s when He spoke, gently whispering into the depths of my being, “Child, where is My body? I can do nothing apart from My church. She is My hands and feet. She is My voice that speaks. Where is My church? I am in the midst of My city doing My work, but who is there partnering with Me? She is a spider without legs. No change can be wrought and no souls can be saved, without the hands and feet of My body going forth with My name.”

I sat silently stunned; left unable to move, unable to speak, and unable to even weep. When I got home I opened a phone book and began to count the number of churches and ministries throughout the city. I stopped at 943.

I closed the phone book and prayed. I asked God to send forth laborers to His vineyard, and to give us a heart-you and I-for the lost ones He loves.

The other day I stumbled across a ministry that shed a glimpse of hope within my soul. The ministry is called the Pocket Testament League. Their main goal is to lead souls to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to equip others to do the same. Not only does the site offer free devotionals to strengthen and encourage the believer, they also offer the necessary evangelism tools that we as believers need to be His hands and feet to a lost and dying world. The ministry encourages every believer to carry a pocket sized gospel of John, to daily read and share with those we come into contact with. One believer with God’s heart for the lost and adequate training in evangelism, can be the tool He needs to set just one soul free.

Let’s be His hands and feet.

Quote from Kimberly –“Thank you for the news. My husband and I are truly elated and in a bit of shock. I am very excited to work with Katherine and support the ministry at PTL. I believe they are a sincere ministry faithfully fulfilling Jesus' commission to His church.
"I am thankful and thoroughly privileged to receive an opportunity to further Jesus' kingdom. If I can have any part in the honor of revealing Jesus to a lost world, then I am one truly blessed. Thanks to PTL for allowing me to partner in their work of spreading the gospel of peace. Thanks as well Mike; Faithwriters is a platform and training ground for so many writers to begin what God has called them to.”

Second Place and one paid writing assignment goes to
God's Word Speaks by Lisha Hunnicutt

God's Word Speaks

“Jack left,” wept Alison. “He wants a divorce. What am I going to do?”

“I don’t know, but I know someone who does,” said Kate slipping a pocket testament into Alison’s hands. “This book has answers.”

Late at night, Alison opened the book. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. She continued on. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. “Life,” she thought. “Mine’s going nowhere.” Into the night she read, weeping as the words of Jesus pierced her heart. “Such love,” she thought as her knees hit the carpet. “Jesus,” she wept. “Please forgive me. My life and marriage is in shambles. I give it all to you.”

Two weeks later, Alison and Jack sat across from each other working out the finer points of their divorce. “Something’s different about you,” said Jack. “I can’t put my finger on it. You seem so, joyful. Have you met someone?”

“Yes I have” she smiled. She reached into her purse, pulling out a slightly worn Pocket Testament. “Here,” she said, “You can read about him.” Jack looked at her quizzically, slipping the book into his brief case.

Saturday, while Sawyer ran around the playground, Jack began to read. “In the beginning was the word…” He read more after tucking Sawyer into bed and again after dropping him off at Alison’s on Sunday. Monday night, he lay on the sofa thinking about his life. “God, help me know if you’re real. Alison has changed. I want what she has.” A peace like none he’d ever felt filled his soul.

A year later, Alison and Jack renewed their vows. Morgan pulled Jack aside. “Wow man! I never thought I’d see this! How did you win her back?”

“You really want to know?” asked Jack.

“Yeah, I really want to know.”

“Here,” said Jack. “Read this.” He slipped a well-worn Pocket Testament into Morgan’s hand.

A couple days later, Morgan suffered from another hangover. “Man, I feel like I’ve been hit by a Mac truck.” The book that Jack gave him sat on the coffee table. He picked it up. “In the beginning was the word…” It took a few days, but Morgan read the entire book, pondering its message. He knelt by the couch, “Jesus,” he prayed. “I’m not big on words, but I need something.”

A few weeks later, Morgan ran into an old friend. “Yo dude! Where you been? The guys at The Hound have been asking about you.”

Morgan answered. “Let’s just say I have better things to do.”

“Like what?”

“Here, read this,” said Morgan handing his friend a Pocket Testament held together by duct tape. “This will tell you all you need to know.”

One Pocket Testament, three redemptions, and counting.

If you’d like to know more about evangelism, visit the Pocket Testament League. This ministry equips Christians with free evangelism training, daily devotionals, and the distribution of the printed Gospel.

Third Place and $25 goes to
Nothing More Important
By Jennifer Suchey

The beachside cafe bustled with activity. Patrons sat beneath red umbrellas engaged in conversation while enjoying California cuisine.

The ocean breeze blew strands of hair across Vanessa’s face. “I can’t believe Courtney Wilhelm is meeting us here. It’s been, what . . . twelve years since we graduated USC?”

Megan sipped iced tea and nodded. “The internet is a wondrous thing, right? I was shocked when I saw the friend request.”

“Vanessa Blackwell! Megan Roland!” The vivacious voice carried.

The two women locked eyes and grinned as they stood to face Courtney Wilhelm.

After hugs were exchanged the three friends sat and chatted for the next hour. Courtney’s life sounded amazing. Her career as a high-powered attorney intrigued Vanessa.

As the conversation continued, however, Courtney’s countenance began to change. Her face was now flushed and her eyes moist. Summing up her marital troubles she announced, “He got full custody of the kids.”

The words pierced Vanessa’s chest like a spear.

“Oh, Courtney.” Vanessa placed her hand over her friend’s. This was deep. This was real life pain her friend was experiencing and Vanessa had no idea what to say.

Megan turned her chair toward Courtney. “Courtney, do you go to church?”

Courtney dabbed her eyes with a cloth napkin. “I don’t have time for church.”

Vanessa then watched and listened with great intent as Megan shared the love of Jesus with Courtney, the gift of salvation and how when we rest in God, He carries us through trying times.

“You don’t have to go through this life alone, Courtney.” As Megan spoke she pulled a small book from her purse and set it in front of Courtney.

“This is the Gospel of John. Take it with you and read it when you get a chance. There’s nothing more important than your salvation, Courtney, so please promise me you’ll at least read it.”

Courtney took the pocket testament and flipped through it.

“Pay attention to the verses in bold,” Megan pointed to one. “They’re key to understanding new life in Christ. There’s also a section detailing the plan of salvation. You’ll find a clear explanation with some of the verses I shared with you today.”

“Alright.” Courtney looked at the time on her phone. “For you, Megan, I’ll read it.” She pushed her chair back and stood. “I’m late for a meeting.”

The three friends hugged and Courtney hurried off to her car.

Lingering in front of the cafe, Vanessa eyed Megan.

“How did you do that?”

“Do what?”

“Share Jesus with her so easily. I could never do that.”

“Yes you could. Go to The Pocket Testament League . . . ptl.org. You can order pocket testaments like the one I gave Courtney and get free evangelism training. It’s easier than you might think to share your faith.”

Pocket Testament League?”

“Yeah, it’s a great site with wonderful resources, including free daily devotionals and evangelism tools. It’s where I learned everything I shared with Courtney today.”

“Really? ptl.org. Maybe I can be an evangelist.”

CONTEST AND ALL OTHER ENTRIES BELOW THIS POINT

THIS FORUM IS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ENTRYS ONLY. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE QUESTION FORUM UNDER BLOGGING CONTESTS. The deadline was posted in error for 2 different times. We have switched everything to the later posted date of 7-9-12 at 10AM New York time.

This contest is now open.

You must read the blogging contest overview before reading this forum or you will not understand this program. I suggest you print out the overview and this article to prepare. This program has tremendous potential and I suggested you get involved early and learn the basics such as hyperlinking and setting up a free blog. They are both very simple and these articles should come fairly easy for you. We have two other ministries in line behind this one and every ministry I have approached really likes this program. We have even had a Christian publisher approach us who really likes this program. They are considering offering a publishing package as a prize for the winner of their contest. So getting involved now and learning how it works is strongly suggested. Preparation is 90% of the job. If you do not consider yourself computer or know nothing about blogging, do not fear. A blog is simply a collection of articles you write and post. Full instructions are in this forum and in the blogging overview forum.

The first ministry we will be promoting is the Pocket Testament League. They are 119 years old. There main focus is leading people to a saving knowledge of Christ and equipping others to do the same.

The prize for this contest is a paid writing opportunity for the Pocket Testament League. The total value of the prize is $300 for three articles. ($100 per article) First place will receive two of the assignments and second place will receive one. Third place will receive $25 from us. While I cannot guarantee it, if you are the winner and do an excellent job with the paid articles they assign you. I think it is quite possible that you will get further work from PTL. We have already had some of our members receive paid writing opportunities from PTL. I will also endeavor to make sure that the 2nd and 3rd place writers end up on PTL's approved author list. This is a great opportunity for writers who want exposure and potential income.

Your assignment for this contest is to review their site and ministry. Check out their website here http://www.ptl.organd look around. Get an idea of what they do. Join as a free member to get inside the site. Take some time and do a great job. You are promoting a ministry whose number one goal is to promote Jesus by using the gospel of John. You may want to utilize some scripture from John.

23Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Col 3:23-24

Specifics for this contest. Failure to follow the rules will lead to disqualification.

1) You are to write a a promotional review of their site and ministry that would lead your readers to click on the links you place in the article that lead to PTL. The article MUST have a title. Please consider what someone might search under if they wanted resources PTL offers. Be creative but not overly creative. They are seeking visits mainly from believers who want to share their faith and need tools.

6-25 update - You can choose to write a straight review as explained or you can choose to write a unique storyline built around the keywords listed in this post. For example you might write a story about a Christian who suddenly realizes the importance of sharing the gospel. Every time you use one of the keywords like "evangelism" you would hyperlink it to http://www.ptl.org

2) The maximum number of words is 500.

3) Here is the list of keyword or keyword phrases PTL would like us to promote so that their site shows up better on an internet search in these areas.

evangelism
free evangelism training
evangelism tools
daily devotionals
free daily devotionals
what is evangelism

It is vital that you include at least three of these keywords, keyword phrases in your articles as contextual links. You can use them all if you wish. (A contextual link is simply a highlighted keyword in the article that if clicked on will lead to a designated URL, web address.). They must be incorporated into a sentence. For example the first one is "Evangelism" with a link attached that goes to ptl.org. You could write - The Pocket Testament Leagues heart and soul is to promote evangelism and teach others to do the same. Every time you used the word evangelism you would hyperlink it to http://www.ptl.org. You can see live hyperlink examples by looking at the very top or bottom of any page on FaithWriters. The link that says home for example, is hyperlinked to our main page (URL) of the website.

On many of the blog sites where you can set up a free blog, setting up a hyperlinked keyword or keyword phrase is very simple. On the http://www.blogger.com screen you highlight the word you want to link in your article and click the link tab and enter the URL (the web address you want to go to). http://www.blogger.com is a great site to set up your free blog. You can then use it for future posts for this program and other articles you write.

If you are on a site that requires the links to be in HTML code - like our regular articles section - to create a contextual link. Here is what you need. Only the keyword or keywords would be displayed in the article. For example the keywords in the third line below are – evangelism tools. It would show up in the text underlined as a link. When clicked on it would lead to http://www.ptl.org/.

<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">Evangelism</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">free evangelism training</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">evangelism tools</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">daily devotionals</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">free daily devotionals</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">what is evangelism</a>

Here is a page with more help - http://www.ehow.com/how_5070703_create-hyperlinks.html

Here is a 59 second videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vihzXwjq8y8&feature=related
The method for creating a contextual hyperlink will vary on different sites. For example in our regular articles section you would use <a href="http://www.ptl.org/">Evangelism</a>like we just reviewed. But on our free reprint section this is not necessary. You need to check the specific information for the site you plan on posting too. Once you know how to do it, future writings will be easy to accomplish. After you post your article please check to make sure your links work. To win you must have functional links in your article.

4) You MUST post the article in this specific forum. You must also post the article in three (3) other locations. We will accept our regular articles as one of the three other locations. When you post it in this forum, please include the URL’s for the other three postings at the bottom of your article. Do not include this list in your other postings.

To create a contextual link in our forms you need to do it like this

free evangelism training

It would look like this

free evangelism training

Here are some more options to set up a free blog- http://sixrevisions.com/tools/top-free-online-blogging/ .

Of course these can also be posted on the site or blog you already have set up. They can also be posted on Facebook. On Facebook you might want to also post the article on one of many open Christian Blogs. Whatever you do set it up right so you have easy access for future contests.

5) The deadline for these submissions is 10 AM New York time on 7-9-12. Winners will be announced as soon as possible after the deadline in this forum and on the main site and by email to the winners.

6) VERY IMPORTANT - Everyone is invited to participate. However please remember that paid writing assignments will only go to Gold or Platinum members. I need a lot of upgraded members to participate. If a Silver member wins we will give them a 1 year free Gold membership. But the writing assignment will go to the highest ranked upgraded member in the contest. If a Silver member wins and gets a Gold membership prize, they would be eligible for the writing assignment prize in future contests. So if you want to be in the pack that could win a writing assignment in this contest you would need to upgrade before the contest starts. As I mentioned this could possibly lead the winner to more work and exposure. Gold is only about .20 per day and you are helping this ministry help Christian writers and spread the gospel.

Please do not contact PTL direct unless you are one of our writers who was recently contracted with them and need to discuss your assignments.

This contest is open now.

God Bless, Mike

THIS FORUM IS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ENTRYS ONLY. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE QUESTION FORUM UNDER BLOGGING CONTESTS.

Evangelism At It's Finest

I have reviewed the site of the PTL, or Pocket Testament League, and found it to an amazing Testament to Christ in and of itself. The site explains how we as Christians can reach out to others who may be hurting and in need of Jesus in a gentle, kind, non intrusive way. They explain and teach a type of evangelism can easily lead people to Jesus Christ.

The pocket testaments are expressly written for and offered to those we might meet or see in our daily lives as a way of telling them about the love and forgiveness of our Lord and Savior. We see these people everyday on the streets, at the office, and even in our own families, who are in such pain they are just waiting for someone to help. These beautiful Pocket Testaments cover all subjects and needs.

To me, this is what true evangelism is all about. Reaching out to those in pain, whether it be physical, emotional, or both. Jesus sees these people in need and is waiting for His Believers to help them. When we recognize these people, Jesus will speak to our hearts and we will know exactly what to say to them and how to approach them. He will give us the right words. The pocket testament will express in writing what we vocalize and may remind them later of their option to receive Jesus and be healed.

PTL.org represents Jesus at His finest. Saving souls and then sending those saved souls out into the world to save others. This is what God intends for all of His children. Spreading the true word of the Gospel of His one and only Son Jesus Christ Our Lord.

I will recommend this site to anyone seeking to find a way to spread the good word of Jesus and also to those looking for salvation. Reading the information given on this site offers illustration to both sides. I have ordered “The Perfect Love” Pocket Testaments so I may reach out to people myself. I intend to order more when I can. I am very excited to learn more about relating the Gospel to others in the way of my own personal evangelism. I look forward to telling others how Jesus Christ saved my life and how He can and will save theirs. Praise the Lord.

Please go to the websites below and read about this wonderful organization and how their evangelism can help not only those in need of Christ, but ourselves as well. We as Christians need to spread the word of God as often as possible, and this site will show you how to reach others, simply and with success.

A Ministry Review of the Pocket Testament League

“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere,” Mark 16:15 (NLT).

These are the very words of Jesus Christ our Lord. When we received the Good News and were saved, we too became filled with the desire and the power from the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to do just that.

Many of you already know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior but in fact, out of the many who are saved, several don’t know how or they may feel uncomfortable sharing their faith with others.

If you are one of these people you have just found ‘The Pocket' that will eliminate the frustration you have experienced when it comes to sharing your faith publicly. You will find all the information you need at http://www.ptl.org

Evangelism (simply put) is defined in the Scripture verse referenced above. Having that Good News in your pocket when an opportunity arises makes sharing Christ extremely effective and grabs the attention of your listener. Visit the Pocket Testament League and see how this ministry will impact you and those around you in a powerful and dynamic way. Best of all—it’s the right way, guaranteed.

The Pocket Testament League began in 1893 with one young lady named Helen Cadbury. It’s still alive and thriving 119 years later. Wow, that’s amazing but it’s not unbelievable, because they have continued to do exactly what the Lord told us all to do as His followers. Go and tell the Good News.

Are you happy to know you have salvation in your pocket? Then share it with others. You will experience a joy like you’ve never known once you become familiar with the precepts of sharing your faith at the Pocket Testament League.

This was God’s plan for us (from the beginning) and it is our greatest joy to fulfill the Great Commission He has called us to as His children.

The Pocket Testament League is devoted to equip you (the believer) with evangelism tools that will enlighten the road ahead of your journey and prepare you to boldly share your faith with others.

Dive into their free evangelism training course designed to teach you step by step how to reach out to the lost with the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. Read daily devotionals too and build up your faith as you seek to win souls for His kingdom.

Romans 10:14 says it plainly, how will they know unless you tell them? For His word declares, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water,” John 4:10 (NLT).

So don’t wait another minute, for the Lord’s return is close at hand. Decide today; make it your purpose to tell them how they can have this living water too through Jesus Christ our Lord.

PLEASE NOTE: When you post in this forum you cannot make the contextual links work like you can in the regular articles submission area. If you notice the 2nd article posted by Trans4md you will see that their HTML code shows through. This is fine for this forum. It just shows us it was inserted in the other forums where she posted.

Please do not post any questions here. This is for contest entries and my updates to you if necessary.

Personal Evangelism and Christian Training through PTL

Whether you are a new Christian or a seasoned veteran of the Christian faith, the struggle for a meaningful and successful Christian walk has always been an issue. This is why, since 1893, Pocket Testament League (PTL) has been developing free, meaningful and practical Christian discipleship and evangelism tools. These tools assist the Christian in developing life long habits, which will help them spiritually grow and be more successful in honoring God’s Word.

Because PTL recognizes the changing times both in culture and in technology, they have developed free evangelism training, free daily devotionals and a way to help Christians fulfill the great commission of evangelism through Scripture distribution of the Gospel of John. They accomplish this by taking advantage of current technology – delivering these programs to you through electronic media applications such as the iPhone, iPad or any Android device, and if you don’t have these applications – any PC or MAC will do.

PTL’s free evangelism training and personal group interaction is designed to aid you in your everyday walk with the Lord. PTL invites you to join them in carrying out God’s call to evangelism and personal spiritual growth. These goals can be accomplished through Pocket Testament League programs such as: daily devotionals, 21-Day Challenge, Evangelism-Boot-Camp, partnership distribution of the Gospel of John, and “This Book is Alive” – their on-line small group Bible study.

Pocket Testament League invites you to partner with them through meaningful participation in spreading the Word of God while at the same time developing your personal Christian life. To learn more about PTL and their invitation to partner with them, just click on any of the links displayed within this article.

Let it Shine!

John 1 vs 4-7
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. (NKJV)

I have always found evangelism a bit of a struggle, especially in these times where we have to be so politically correct. A free evangelism training class helped get things into perspective. I learnt about evangelism tools and how to use them effectively. God has called everyone of His children to evangelise, this is a divine mandate.

John the Baptist evangelised. The bible tells us that he came as the voice crying out in the wilderness. He announced the arrival of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the true light and we must let that light shine. Through reading the bible, I discovered that we must live our lives in such away that our actions however subtle, become evangelism tools. This is not an excuse to shy away from telling people about Jesus, but when we are in environments that do not permit us to talk about our faith, for example, at work, we must let our actions speak louder than our words.

Helen Cadbury, the grand daughter of the founder of Cadbury chocolates, was an evangelist! When I discovered this I chuckled; God has a sense of humour. Can anything good ever come out of chocolates? It took me back to Nathanael's question in John 1; 'can any good thing could come out of Nazareth?'.

Thirteen year old Helen Cadbury, like many Christians was a little shy about sharing her faith at first, but she found; a way to evangelise and the evangelism tools to use. No it wasn't chocolate... although I bet it came in handy. Her tool was the word of God itself! She started this cool club, where members had to read the bible daily. I believe God gave her the wisdom; people came and read for themselves. It is recorded that at sixteen years of age, she led a police officer to Christ through her enthusiastic sharing approach. How did she go from shy to enthusiastic? She was empowered!

John 1 tells us that Jesus gives us the power to become the sons of God and I believe this was evident in Helen Cadbury's life. This is how she went from being the shy evangelist to the enthusiastic evangelist. Like John the Baptist, we must tell the world about Christ. It is through us that people will see The Light, believe in Him and be saved. We must ask God to reveal to us the best way to share Jesus with the world and to show us the perfect evangelism tools too! We must not let 'shyness' or 'political correctness' stop us from letting our light shine.

Devoted To Getting The Word Out~

There are many worthy websites that promote the Lord and His Holy Word. So many individuals that dedicate their time and love to God. And, it can be done in so many ways. One way is through daily devotionals. Some have a plethora of information pertaining to our Sovereign King. Some are keen on Evangelism. Some have tools for free evangelism training.

I recently checked out an organization that has all of the above and more. All of the essentials that provide a Christian to shine the light of Jesus Christ unto someone’s path. A fine organization… The Pocket Testament League. I found The Pocket Testament League (PTL) to be a powerful place that will jump-start your Evangelism engine. It will touch your heart as you read what this loving organization does.

It allows the story of Jesus to come to “Life” to those who are “Dead” through the Gospel of John. The pocket Gospel can be readily available to those in need. All made possible by the vision of a young lady, Ms. Cadbury. She had a driven force from within to promote the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ. She spearheaded this amazing foundation, and brought it to fruition in 1893. And, it is still going strong today.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 (NJKV). Perhaps one of the most familiar and most spoken verses in the Bible.

Jesus is the way, He is the Light, He is our Savior, and our Lord of Lords. So many know this and celebrate it daily. Those that do LIVE in the light. They thrive, and they devote their lives to Him.

But, think how many who don’t. They live in the dark. They exist without hope, or love. These are the ones that Jesus wants to save. These are the very ones that we need to reach. How? Well, through Evangelism for a start.

PTL is a prolific foundation that allows anyone to become all they can be in terms of promoting the Lord Jesus Christ. From what I have read, it witnessed to my heart.

We can touch someone today. If Jesus places it in our hearts, He wants us to follow through. Reach out, and offer someone the opportunity to LIVE and to come into the Light.

I am grateful for organizations like PTL, and Faithwriters and, for all of the devoted Christians that follow the Lord Jesus Christ. One day every knee shall bow, and every tongue will profess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I look forward to that glorious day when our King of Kings returns in all His glory.

Until then, let’s do our part to let it be known right now…Jesus Christ is our Savior, and no one can get to the Father without knowing the Son.

He must increase, but I must decrease John 3:30 (NKJV)

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17 (NKJV)

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36 (NKJV)

Sharing Your Faith - A Great Opportunity!

Postby gigi » Mon Jul 02, 2012 2:45 am

Have you been thinking about a better way to share the love of Jesus Christ with friends or family? Even those you do not know? Well, sharing your faith about Jesus isn't that hard or scary, especially with the proper tools and training. So, when you hear the word 'evangelism,' what comes to mind? Maybe nothing or a vague idea. Nevertheless, let's answer a simple question, “What is evangelism?”

Evangelism is derived from the Greek word for 'messenger' or 'angel', but, simply means preaching or telling the 'good news' or the 'gospel'.

The essence of Christianity is based in the fact that, we, as believers, should be excited to tell others about Jesus Christ. About our new life. Remember, the reason Christ died for all mankind, was to take away the sins of the world; and redeem us from death, hell and the grave. He did just that. But, he also gave us work to do.

By accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, we have a wonderful opportunity to share with others. Just like telling a friend about the TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” Many people are excited to watch celebrities and entertainers dance, week after week. These dancers perform following weeks of training and conditioning. People often watch the show, admiring the skill, grace and talent of the men and women dancing. Others watch the show thinking, “I could do that, too, under the right circumstances.”

Well, with the proper evangelism tools, we, too, can share with others our faith in Jesus. The Pocket Testament League (PTL) can help us grow in this area. Also, our testimony of what the Lord has done in our lives – whether it is a healing, a deliverance from alcohol, tobacco or drugs; or, whether the Lord comforted us during a financial disaster, job loss, divorce, abuse, death of a loved one, etc., can be a blessing to an unbeliever.

Really, evangelism is not hard at all. Just beginning a conversation with someone about his or her interests or family is a great start. Meeting for coffee or walking the trail is another possibility. A word of encouragement to reach someone who is contemplating giving up, is powerful. Only God knows man's heart. Our assignment is to be obedient.

John 8:32 says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Free from the slavery of sin. Isn't that what we all want in our lives? And don't we desire that for our loved ones and others?

Whenever the opportunity presents itself, you can develop your techniques or skills, or just start from scratch, with free evangelism training from a reputable and knowledge source, such as the PTL. Great resources are available for all. And, in addition to bible-based, free evangelism training materials, the daily devotionals that PTL offers can be extremely helpful in one's own walk with the Lord. Start today.

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:67-69 NIV

This Scripture is a personal favourite of mine. Many of Christ's disciples were unable to accept his teachings as they were too hard to understand. Perhaps some were being wooed by spiritualists, claiming theirs was the better way to go.

In this day and age things are not much different. There are so many different religions and philosophies that it can be hard for people to spot what is truth and what is fallacy.

For the most part they offer half-truths; ideals for living a good life, often based on the teachings of Christ, but flawed in so many ways. Ultimately, no matter how respectable or 'good' their teachings are, their followers will be left with empty promises of eternal life that, they will realise too late, only relationship with Jesus Christ can bring.

In such a web of lies and deceit it is so important that we, as Christians, venture forth and declare the absolute Truth of Jesus Christ.

Evangelism is often cited as one of the hardest roles for Christians. "I don't have the words to say," "I don't want to offend my friends or family," and, "What if they don't believe me?" are some of the most common reasons many of us shy away fromevangelism.

These are very real concerns, and the Pocket Testament League is one such organisation that is helping to alleviate these fears and show us that evangelism, when done well, is all about approaching people in love and kindness, with a boldness that comes from the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Pocket Testament League is totally committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ to a confused humanity through sharing the Gospel of John. Members are provided with free evangelism training, free daily devotionals and uplifting personal testimonies from around the world, showing just how effective their evangelism methods are.

If you have asked the question, "What is evangelism?" or don't know where to start, I highly recommend you visit the Pocket Testament League. Why not become a member - it's free! - and complete their free evangelism training course. Their Boot Camp program is conducted via email, allowing you to work through each of the 7 short studies and questions at your own pace.

Will you answer the call to share the love of Jesus to your friends and family? Investing time in learning, and then using, the evangelism tools at the Pocket Testament League will change your life.

More importantly, as you allow the Holy Spirit to work through your words, you will help change eternity for others.

The Christian’s Tools for Evangelism

Have you ever seen an electrician in action? How about a mechanic? They’re people with a job to do, a job they can handle because they have the tools they need to accomplish the task.

As Christians, we have been given a job to do. The Great Commission directs us to take the Gospel to the lost. That’s a mission that can become complicated, because many people don’t realize they need what we have to offer. Just like the electrician, and the mechanic, we need to fill our toolboxes with the right tools to ensure we can get even the complicated jobs done.

Pocket Testament League is a venerable organization that wants to supply those very tools. Established 119 years ago, their mission is to enable Christians to effectively share the Gospel. Through the years, they have found creative and financially responsible ways to do that. As expected of any vibrant enterprise, they have a well developed website. http:://www.ptl.org is the link to this Christian worker’s tool crib paradigm.

Evangelism needs to be approached from various perspectives, in order to reach people where they’re at. The tools offered at PTL help to accomplish that. Evangelism Boot Camp provides 92 Ways to Share Your Faith; and Top 40 Ice Breakers. Five Reasons to Read the Bible will give the witness excellent support for conversations with those who are seeking hope. God’s Plan for Your Life is a small group study that speaks to the individual, with lessons that explore: God’s Peace, Purpose, Protection, Provision, and Power for Your Life.

The ultimate evangelism tool is always going to be God’s Word, and PTL makes unique editions of the Gospel of John available. Are you hoping to speak to someone in the medical profession? There’s a version meant just for them. An athlete? A stay-at-home mom? A writer? There are dozens of choices, in three languages, and several versions. You select the ones that would be of most use to you in your circle of influence.

The free membership offers the opportunity to receive a regular dose of encouragement, in your in-box, in the form of Free Daily Devotionals. Timidity can develop into passionate confidence through the Free Evangelism Training, or the self-paced study of Jesus’ ministry, The 21 Day Challenge.

When you need the services of a plumber or a mechanic, you want to have confidence in his work. You look at his past performance, and you talk to previous customers. PTL delivers those assurances right there on the website. You will find a timeline which highlights many of their contributions over the years. You will find testimonials from many who have benefitted from their services.

These examples are only the beginning. You can find so much more by following this link: http://www.ptl.org[/]. The most important thing you will find is valuable support you need in order to do your part in making an eternal difference in the lives of others.

A matter of life or death.

The disappointment and sorrow in their eyes of a morning killed me; yet I was unable to control this desire I had to drink, whenever problems arose. Although I was attending a church and was very active in the church, the dark days that the enemy got hold of me were terrible. My friends and family all began to question my salvation, in fact so did I.

Fortunately we had a pastor who cared deeply enough to take quite radical steps. He disciplined me and it really became even darker. My membership of the church was suspended until I could get control of my life again.

There was some-one though who cared so deeply and loved me too much to allow my life to end in darkness. Jesus, the light of the world, shone forth His beaming spotlight into my dark pit. Gently reaching down into my darkness, He took my hand and led me out. He covered me with His love and began ministering to my soul. Special people represented Jesus and saved my soul. Today I am totally free of any bondage and live to give Him praise and adoration.

How are you doing? Do you know Jesus? Is He lord of your life?
There is an excellent website http://www.ptl.org which will answer many questions and give you tools to change your life. There are daily devotionals which will inspire and challenge you! It is user friendly and contains information about how you too can evangelize others.
How exciting can that be?

When Jesus left His disciples here on earth, He gave them the great commission.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matt. 28 vs. 19-20. Isn’t it wonderful that He has promised never to leave us or forsake us?

The Pocket Testament League will help you to know and understand who you are in Christ and will then equip you with evangelism tools to lead others to Him.

May you be blessed as you take this step of faith.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3vs 16.

COME AND SEE

The Gospel according to John is full of some of my favorite Jesus encounters. John chapter 4 is the story of Jesus conversing with the Samaritan woman. I love how Jesus shows the disciples by example to reach outside their social comfort zone and introduce the Messiah to strangers. Immediately after Jesus reveals His identity, the woman runs to her community and boldly says (v.29):
“Come (and) see a man who told me all the things I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” (NKJV)

John’s Gospel has been my “go to” book of the Bible on many occasions, especially when pointing new believers to learn more about who Jesus Christ is. It’s no wonder this portion of God’s Word is printed as a standalone booklet by various organizations.

I personally have handed out a portion of the Gospel message many times, but as evangelists, my husband and I are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Pocket Testament League (PTL) to provide awesome evangelism tools on our many encounters while we travel to fulfill His call on our lives.

I encourage you to visit their web site at http://www.ptl.org/ and browse around. It won’t take you long to discover the depth of commitment within PTL for evangelism by providing a simple and economical way for believers to share their faith in Jesus. Even a seasoned Christian like myself (that’s a nice way to say I’m old in the faith), will benefit from PTL’s free 7-part online evangelism training course: Evangelism Boot Camp. Lesson #1 has been promptly delivered to my email and is beckoning me to lead by example and work through the easily laid out lessons to sharpen my sword.

After becoming a member and joining this powerful ministry that is responsible for placing over 110 MILLION Gospels in their 119 year history of existence, I look forward to experiencing what I now call PTL moments: Praise The Lord I shared Jesus via Pocket Testament League!

Also, keeping up with the tech world is clearly a priority for PTL. Do you have a smart phone? (This is not the opposite of a dumb phone.) You can download PTL’s free app and have access to daily devotions or quickly share on the interactive map when you’ve had a PTL moment.

Let’s all be a modern day Samaritan woman and run to tell our community “Come and see…” for this is the story of Christ, the promised Messiah.

Review of the Pocket Testament League

“An evangelist? Me? No, I prefer to just live my life in a way that people should see that I’m a believer. I don’t have to actually talk to people about it, do I?” Or maybe you have said, “I’m not qualified to share my testimony! It’s boring, I’ve been a Christian forever and I don’t have anything interesting to say.” Oh, what a lie of the enemy that is! We have the MOST important news to share--Jesus! We have been asked by Him simple to be witnesses of what we know. We know that Jesus is “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6) and we need to let others know as well.

I’ve always figured it just wasn’t in my personality to evangelize to people. I can’t speak in crowds. I don’t make small talk one-on-one very well, either. I’m not comfortable talking with people who don’t share my faith, because what if I don’t know what to say? Or worse, what if I say the wrong thing and turn someone off completely?

If any of this sounds like you, then you need to see the Pocket Testament League’s website. I’ve spent some time on their website and have found it to be amazing and inspiring. PTL was started by a teenage girl in 1893 to spread the gospel. They have a ministry devoted to helping believers share their faith through free evangelism training, evangelism tools, and unique publications of the Gospel of John. These publications can be ordered by their members (membership is free) to carry with them in their daily lives, with the goal of giving one away per day.

Pocket Testament League is here to encourage the Body of Christ to bring His message of love, grace and salvation wherever they go. You can sign up for free daily devotionals to help you in your own walk, be part of a community where you can share stories or prayer requests and find other relevant and supportive information that you can take with you to help you talk to others.

No matter what our denomination, doctrine or theology, we should all agree that we need to share the love of Christ and the Bible is the best means by which we can do so. I admit that I have never been good at evangelism. But with the help of PTL I’m ready to try. I will be ordering a set of Gospels and will dedicate myself to a more open form of evangelism. Are you ready to make the leap into the not-so-scary world of evangelism with me?

What’s in Your Pocket?

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have...” (1 Peter 3:15 NIV)

Sharing your faith is the heart of evangelism. The Pocket Testament League (PTL) believes so and they will equip you with free evangelism training and tools so you’ll always be prepared.

But wait....what is evangelism? Do I knock on doors or hand out tracts on a street corner? You can, but PTL’s vision is deeper than that: their goal is to equip believers for a lifestyle of evangelism. PTL’s simple mission is three-fold: Read, Carry, and Share the Word of God.

Read the Word of God
PTL wants people to develop a living relationship with Jesus Christ through daily Bible study and prayer. PTL members receive a free daily devotional every weekday via email. Members have access to the free 21-Day Challenge to learn more about Jesus Christ by reading and reflecting on the Gospel of John. PTL’s online guide to Bible verses will strengthen your faith and help you share the Good News with others.

Carry the Word of God
PTL equips members with evangelism tools: pocket-sized copies of the Gospel of John, available in English, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. These pocket testaments are available in different Bible translations and come in a variety of attractive designs so you can take them anywhere and share them with everyone. There’s even an illustrated Gospel for children.

Dedicate a pocket to the Lord and carry a Gospel there to give away each day. Carry a Gospel in your purse, diaper bag, briefcase, backpack...(you get the idea).

PTL’s evangelism ministry is supported through donations for each Gospel copy ordered by members, but members in financial need may receive support from sponsors. No one who wants to share God’s Word will be turned away.

Share the Word of God
PTL’s evangelism ministry puts free copies of Scripture into the hands of others, so that they can read it for themselves, perhaps for the first time. PTL members plant the seeds and the Holy Spirit helps them grow.

Members receive free evangelism training through a self-paced 7-part Evangelism Boot Camp that prepares you to share your faith.

Visit PTL’s website to find over 100 creative ways to share the Gospel with others: on the go, on the job, even from home.

Community of Believers
The Pocket Testament League is not just an evangelical ministry, it’s a community that encourages each other and shares prayer requests and stories. You’ll find a thriving PTL community on Facebook. There’s even a mobile app.

Find out more or register online for a free membership (including free daily devotionals and evangelism tools) at the Pocket Testament League’s website.

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32 NIV)
