Ask Questions Here About Any Contest in Progress

Postby mikeedwards » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:42 pm

Please read the instructions completely and carefully. After this if you still have a question you can ask it here. I will reply when I am able to check this forum.

THIS IS HOW YOU CREATE A CONTEXTUAL LINK IN OUR REGULAR ARTICLES AND IN OUR FORUMS.

You would use these for posting an article in our regular articles.

When you write an article for these contests you will be given keywords. You use these keywords in a few sentences. In this contest when the word evangelism appears in your article, replace it with this, exactly as typed.

<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">Evangelism</a>

Here it is in context - The Pocket Testament Leagues heart and soul is
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">Evangelism</a>.

Only the word evangelism would appear in this article posted in our regular articles. You would do exactly the same for each keyword or keyword phrase that is in your article.

<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">free evangelism training</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">evangelism tools</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">daily devotionals</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">free daily devotionals</a>
<a href="http://www.ptl.org/">what is evangelism</a>

To post in the regular articles. Log in to the main site. On the first page you come to on the right, down just a bit you will see Post Writing and manage writing. These allow you to post tour regular articles and to manage or edit you article later.

2) To create a contextual link in our forums you need to type it exactly like the next example. You replace the words TheURLHere with the actual URL which is http://www.ptl.org/.

free evangelism training

It would look like this in the forum. It would be underlined and in blue as an active link.

free evangelism training

I put the urls at the bottom of the article in the regular articles section, but they will not automatically go to links that way. Maybe I am missing something. As I said, I am not savvy about these things. I also listed the urls on my website, and am going to try facebook now.

Hi Lynn, Good question. We are using the 1st contest links as an example here.

How to make a link show up as a link in our regular article section.

If you do post it in our regular articles just putting http://www.FaithWriters will not create an active link in the article. To post it in the regular articles you need to insert the links to the 2 sites exactly like I show next. Just copy and paste them and insert them in your article where you want the link to go. When you preview your article you will see these links in blue underlined.

1) <a href="http://www.faithwriters.com">FaithWriters</a>

2) <a href="http://www.faithwritersjesuspage.weebly.com/">Learn More About Jesus</a>

Or you can post in our free reprint section where you do not need to do the links as shown above. In the free reprint section you only need to use http://www.faithwriters.com/ and http://www.faithwritersjesuspage.weebly.com/ and the links will show up.
We need God's Grace because of God's Truth.

Hi Mike,

Can you just clarify if Ive got this right...

We write the blog, post it on various sites, link to (current ministry) and faithwriters, then post it on the forum thread.

Do we need to say where we have posted the blog?

Thanks

Christine

Hi Christine,

Yes that is how it works. You can let us know where else you posted it but it is not mandatory.

Thanks for being a member.

This isn't really a question--more of an apology. Now that I have officially branded myself as one of "those" people who doesn't carefully read the directions . . . I posted my article and when reading on the faithwriters blog, I finally SEE where you instructed that the first blog was to be 500 words or less. I believe my entry more than doubles that amount of words. Sigh. Guess I am going to have to work on economy--but I don't know how I would have written that particular piece with fewer words . . . It's going to be fun learning to be more focused!

Pocket Testament League Blog Question

Postby tranz4md » Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi,

I noticed on the instructions for the Pocket Testament League blog post that we are required to post a url address in the blog to PTL. This in my understanding is www.ptl.org correct?

Also, Mike stated we must post a link to FaithWriters within our blog for Pocket Testament League. If this is a review of one specific website wouldn't this be taking away from the intent to promote their site by citing a link to another website other than their own?

Just wondering?

Thanks,

tranz4md

One link to faithwriters at the bottom of the post is all we need. There should be several hyperlinks to Pocket Testament league through the hyperlinked keywords.

Hi Mike,

I'm a little concerned about the instructions to post the article in multiple locations, as Google highly penalizes sites with content that is published elsewhere (duplicate content).

On the one hand, I really want to participate in the contest, but on the other hand, I'm not about to post the exact same article on 3 of my own blogs and cause Google to lower my search rankings on all 3 of my blogs. Know what I mean?

Is there any other way to do this? Would a single post on my blog with links be sufficient? I'm especially interested in participating in the ptl contest, as I recently finished a devotional ebook on the Gospel of John, and it's all still swimming around in my brain!

Okay, thanks for all your hard work in promoting Christian writers and the Gospel! Aloha!

Hi Chris,

You can post it in our regular articles, one of your blogs and one other location. I would like to say 2 locations would be okay but it depends on participation. If that is all you can do then thats all you can do. Our regular forums and 1 of your blogs would do that. These articles can be posted anytime. We want it this way for our forum especially since we do not want to overwhelm the regular articles all at once. As we move forward we will get the bugs out of this program. If anyone has good ideas about this they can post it in this forum.

The only other place to list it is in the Pocket Testament League forum as a reply. The forum will then end up with a copy of each article for judging purposes.

Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking over the pocket testament league's site right now. What a great organization! I will definitely want to promote their site on my blog, no doubt about it. So, we'll see where else I'll post. I'll take another look at your 10 free blogging sites link and see if duplicate content is an issue with any of them.

Thanks again, Mike. Have a great week, bruthuh :D

This may be a trivial question but if I want to spell a linked keyword correctly then evangelism training, which is one of the keywords for PTL, should be spelled as evangelism-training. The hyphen to join the words is the correct spelling but if I use the hyphen it will be different from the keyword correct?

So should I leave the hyphen out or not?

Thanks,

tranz4md
