Revelations

Postby jo555 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 2:30 pm

As mentioned in another thread, thought it may be nice to prayerfully dive into the book of Revelations.

i've received some things from the lord that can best be described as mere picture frames. i know a general outline of what he is trying to say, but i don't know much else. it can certainly be frustrating. but as time passes, i've noticed that he fills in the center slowly, so that it is more akin to swiss cheese. holes still appear, but there is much more to go on. he gives deeper revelation as we seek him and as we are ready to receive. personally, i wouldn't put too much stock in intellectual traditions and greek signs and such--unless you feel god is leading you there. just keep pressing in and waiting on him. he'll make it clear in due time. :)

Chrishawk. I've had dreams and visions for some time and I would agree with what you have said, yet I also know the benefits I have gained from digging, as God would use that. My brother is more a wait-er in regards to these things, while I'm a digger.

I know these things cannot be forced, and more can be revealed with time, yet I like to prayerfull dig and God has used that, but if nothing comes I put it aside for a time. And sometimes, yes, it just comes.

Just want to be clear that I am not looking to interpret via intellect or Greek symbolism. Although, I do believe with understanding some of these things, God can use it to reveal what He wants to reveal to me.

Like if I dream of a certain type of dog or large cat, I can gain understanding from a research on wikipedia.

I'm detailed and I find that the details the Lord gives me in dreams and visions can contain some wonderful insights, yet I also know that I can lose the main message if I just focus on the details. Details, I feel, need to be seen within the larger picture.

Thank you. My brother has said similar things to me. He also has dreams and visions, and, as I said, he is more of a wait-er. I'm more of a digger. Sometimes I wish he would dig more as I feel he would probably get more if he dug more (or at least more sooner), as I feel he feels I would benefit more from waiting more. I don't doubt we are each right to some extent. I have seen value in what he has shared and have heeded when felt was needed, but I also continue to dig because it has benefitted me much too.

And again, if nothing comes, it is time to give it a rest as these things cannot be forced.

haha! i see your point. that's kind of why i left it open, that if you feel led to do it, do it. i was just trying to encourage you to not force it or obsess over it. but i think you know. i might be saying it wrongly, but based on what you said, you get it.

my cousin and i have a similar thing, and my sister and i do to. god speaks to my sister in these elaborate parables. 'i was behind this salt truck and the lord said to me. . . ' or 'i was walking the dog and saw a stick and the lord said to me. . . ' haha! 'why won't god speak to me in parables?' i asked. then i was reminded of the anguish ezekiel went through regarding god always speaking to him in parables and telling him to share them. haha! i figured it was best to work the way that god had for me. and my cousin gets these beautiful pictures from god that he can paint with his words. god gives me some pretty dry stuff. but i'm pretty dry! haha!

but god speaks to us each differently--in ways that we understand, in ways where we'll eventually 'get it', however he leads us to get it.

thanks for sharing your dream! i'll be praying for you to receive further revelation.

Wanted to delete this whole thread and just repost with just the title in case anyone cared to go into Revelations, but I couldn't find how to delete the thread and figured it isn't something I can do. So, I edited my posts instead (as I said I would eventually delete some things).

Anyway, feel free to carry on the conversation.

First of all, the last book of our Holy Bible is not named "Revelations" as some people erroneously refer to it. Open your Bibles to the 66th book for verification.

It is named "Revelation". It is the unveiling of events leading to the second coming and revealing of Jesus Christ. It is the culmination of prophecy - the point at which all the prophecies of the ages converge and find their ultimate fulfillment.
