Handy Weight Conversion

Hi everyone. As our members are from all over the world, I thought it would be helpful to have a way to convert pounds to kilos (or grams) and kilos to pounds. So here's the conversion:

1 pound = 0.45 kilograms

1 kilogram = 2.205 pounds

1 pound = 453.6 grams (there are 1000 grams in a kilogram)

1 gram = 0.002205 pounds.

If you want someone to work it out for you (the easy way), here's a handy online converter:

Type in the amount you want to convert, choose the two weight measurements, and you're set.

This morning, I am 63.3 kilograms (blah) and that is 139.5 pounds (blah again).

Now that's got us all communicating multi-culturally. But there's another difference -- and that's calories and kilojoules. Many countries don't refer to calories, but to kilojoules, so again, if someone mentions burning so many kilojoules, it can be helpful to know what that is in calories.

1 calorie = 0.0042 kilojoules

1 kilojoule = 239.006 calories.

So yesterday I apparently burnt about 100 calories on my exercise bike. so that was about 418.7 kilojoules.

*Pssssssssst* Hey Deb, I think you've got a misplaced decimal or two. The 100 Calories = 418.68 Kilojoules is correct, according to that site, but that means:

1 Calorie = 4.1868 Kilojoules

and

1 Kilojoule = 0.2388 Calories.
