Walk an hour a day

Postby wandasewell » Sun Mar 17, 2013 12:57 am

About 3 years ago I started walking an hour a day and that has been a great thing. Today I walked an hour because I felt the prompting from God to do so. I take pictures as I walk or I may watch a boat go through Lock 17 (when it's opened) on the Erie Canal in Little Falls, NY. Sometimes I have a friend join me and we fellowship. Sometimes I pray for my family or different needs. It is wonderful to spend the walk admiring God's handiwork and I may discuss His creation with Him. I also look for the ideal picture I need to enter into the Erie Canalway Calendar Contest as I walk around the Erie Canal. God is good! I no longer weigh 250 lbs and that feels good!

That really worked for me 8 years ago when I lost 65 pounds in a year & a half. Unfortunately my schedule now doesn't allow for me to do that, which is probably making my current weight loss a whole lot slower. Glad that it works so well for you too! :thumbs

Thanks for the comment Leah. I hope you get to start walking again with spring approaching. Blessings to you, Wanda

I just need to work it into my schedule. I live in southern California, where it's year round over 60F and sunny. My problem is 12-hour night shifts, which leave no time in between to walk, and if I go for a walk after work, then I won't sleep for a few hours. Summertime will help a little, as it'll still be light when I wake up in the evening, so I can walk then. I lost all my weight before when I worked 8-hour evening shifts, because I could walk every morning even if I was working that night. Now I have to work out at night, and driving to the gym after midnight isn't very fun. But I know I need to do it.

Wow Leah! You've got quite the challenge! Do you live near the ocean and is that a nice place to go and walk/pray? Blessings to you.
