Valentine's Day

There are many of us on Faithwriter's who have previously gone through a divorce. Going through a divorce, single or widowed and know that today is Valentine's Day. I read an article yesterday from a writer here on F.W. and she reminds us that even if we don't have anyone we are still loved by God. I know in myself there is no greater love than God's love but those of us who don't have a spouse for whatever reason or a companion, it can still be hard on this day. There are those who are waiting on God to bring that someone special in their lives and that is the most difficult part. I also am waiting on God to bring me someone. I am pretty sure I know who that "someone" is and that makes it even more difficult. I am thankful for my two son's who live with me. I know those of you who aren't entirely alone are thankful for your loved ones. Let us try to remember that God loved everyone so much so that he gave His only Son. No matter which holiday we encounter throughout the year our heavenly Father is still on His throne cheering us on to victory. Blessings, Lori

I brought myself a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day and before I reached the register, our Lord told me to buy a box for a stranger. I did and when I exited the store, I gave it to a mother with a child in a stroller.

GOD is so purely loving.

When I was younger I used to find Valentine's Day such a lonely day even when I was married because my ex-husband isolated so much. But now, it is truly one of my favorite days of the year. I find the story behind St. Valentine and how he encouraged Christian marriages (marriage in general was discouraged during the time in which he lived) and was executed for his Christian beliefs to be sad yet so inspiring... Eagle Lion, I think what you did in buying extra chocolates and then giving them to that mom was so cool. I am sure she smiled all the rest of the day from that simple act of kindness. When the Lord tells us to do something and we obey there is so much fruitfulness on both sides to be had... I enjoy buying special valentine's / gifts for folks every year and that helps me to take the focus off me. Don't get me wrong there are still plenty of times where I wish the Lord would bring someone special into my life but I have found that when I am sweetening up someone else's life, I adjust much much better. Also, something that I think is such a nice idea is that my church has a special Valentine's dinner which is open to all -- one doesn't have to be part of a "couple" to come, so the people that need it the most (to get out and enjoy a special evening) can feel free to come and enjoy! Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. I am so blessed to know that I am my Father's and He is mine!
