Giving up is letting go of courage, confidence and effort. This happens when we start seeing little of ourselves, measured against whatsoever may confront us. The good news is that the requirement for victory is your weaknesses, small strength or failures. The Bible, which is the greatest book for courage and strength, says:
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
In the book of Judges, Gideon complained to the angel he was small and from a poor family. And this was the evidence of his inability and helplessness to save his people from oppression. He saw himself very incapable and small for the victory expected by his people.
This was Gideon’s complaint:
“And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man” (Judges 6:14-16).
Gideon eventually over-ran the Midianites despite his weaknesses and background – God using them all for his victory (Judges 7:1-25). Your weaknesses and inadequacies are ALL that is needed to win life’s challenges, if you can only hand them over to God to use. Turn your inadequacies to victory when you trust God. It is too early to give up! God is waiting for you to partner with Him and put all in His awesome hands.
This is God’s strategy:
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are” (1Corinthians 1:27-28).
