shoulda coulda woulda

Sometimes, I feel as though I am "preaching to the choir" here, and that is a good thing. But, then something rears its ugly head, and I see the same thing over and over.

I'm seeing a plethora of should of, could of, would of.

It sounds like those words, I know. And depending on where you live, maybe more so.

However, the correct words are should HAVE, could HAVE, would HAVE.

I promise I won't red ink anyone on FB.

Ann,

I just had to reply to this, as only yesterday I was explaining this very thing to my 7yo son! They are learning contractions at the moment and this one stumped him. He, too, thought the answer was "would of," etc.

Ah yes, don't you just love the English language?! :roll: :lol:

I feel sorry for anyone learning English. It is erratic and unpredictable with as many exceptions to the rule as there are rules.
